Thanks for the fun video! You guys make me wanna call up my girlfriends and say "Let's all go 'Camping with Friends', Y'all !!" Except we are all up in our sixties, I have 2 bad hips and can barely walk now, one friend just had heart surgery, and I'm not sure the other one would even "do" camping, lol! (They would all totally do the Vogue-ing in the window thing, though!) I don't think you younger folks really get how many of us mobility-challenged older folks really love tagging along on your hikes and adventures. You should realize that you are actually performing a needed service to humanity! (I got tired of watching crochet videos, and cooking videos just make me hungry!) Keep GO-ing, Girls! Kisses to Tyson!
Petit Jean is our favorite Arkansas State Park, and only 25 miles from our home. It’s especially meaningful to our family because my late father-in-law was a member of the Civilian Construction Corps (CCC) during the late Depression years. He was stationed at Petit Jean and helped with the construction of all the rock walls and buildings there!
I hope you come back for the Cedar Falls trail. It is not actually a strenuous or difficult trail. The only challenge is the half mile of stairs coming back. The signs are there because Petite Jean gets a lot of visitors who frankly aren't in shape. I hike it frequently in Teva sandals. My 72. year old dad did it this summer in 90° heat. Two years ago my step grandfather did it at age 85. It may be a little much for Tyson's little legs, but anyone else in decent shape should be fine. . There is also a fantastic coffee shop down the street from the visitor center and a brewery at the bottom of the Moraliton side of the mountain. . You can also check Mt Nebo and Mt Magazine state parks off your passport on your next trip. They are both an easy drive from Petite Jean.
