Over the Pennines to run Hyde parkrun. A super friendly, fantastic parkrun. Undulating & incredible!

- I'd been meaning to run Hyde parkrun for ages, as my first ever parkrun was at Hyde Park Time Trial and I'm a Hyde Park Harrier. So not having run Hyde parkrun didn't sit well with me!
My friend Steve Milne and I headed over the Pennines to the wonderful Hyde parkrun and what a morning we had! The course was great - an undulating 3 lapper in a traditional Victorian park. However the addition of the run through the Woodland Dell is brilliant and gives the course something extra and unexpected.
The team at Hyde parkrun truly embody the parkrun spirit! I've never met a more vocally supportive team! Their cheering had me smiling from ear to ear throughout the entire run 😃 Not to mention the wonderful Wendy who will always have a special place in my heart as my favourite marshal... even though I'm sure we shouldn't really have favourites!

It was such a lovely addition to what you think is a Victorian park parkrun. You wouldn't expect a gorgeous trail section and so it was a total bonus! 😃
Wendy was amazing, and what a varied and beautiful course. Love that you called the water a beck not a stream, doing your bit to keep regional distinctiveness alive :)
Oh my goodness I actually love Wendy ❤️❤️❤️ lol I've been in Leeds too long... I wouldn't have even known what a beck was before I moved here! 🤣

Aww thank you. 🤗 Although I'm a positive person I think I'd find it hard to be anything else when I'm at parkrun! I love it so much! I think runners during races can forget that all the marshals are still volunteering, I think because they paid for the race. So during races I think the marshals appreciate it even more because less people say it... Plus they always then give you an extra loud cheer which I find a massive boost! 😜🏃♀️
I had done that parkrun this past weekend while visiting my dad at gee cross and it's a great parkrun. I had done it just before the pandemic back in 2019 and the forest was cut out and we weren't allowed in it. So this time we went through it this time and it was great running through the woods. We had a cloudy day so I didn't have to worry about the heat hahaha.
If you ever go up to Scotland up the aberdeen way and want an easy park run you should try my local one. It's the Montrose parkrun, it around the world's first operational airfield and it a nice flat course and our run directors are so nice.

Ooh that sounds like a cool parkrun! Would love to try it! The past 2 years holidaying in Scotland have been great and have really made me want to visit more parkruns north of the boarder! Lucky you living up there! 😃
@@NicolaRuns yeah it's a great park run, apart from the sewage works it's great. Search montrose parkrun on TH-cam the video is a guts next to a sign saying "caution rabbits"

Hi! I saw you that Saturday morning filming. I was in the blue top and was next to my mum with a bright pink top on. You should definitely do Glossop Parkrun, not far from Hyde, and that one is definitely worth doing.

@@NicolaRuns got Glossop , Stockport, Stamford park at Ashton the one you did near Bury Clarncepark may be Halifax and Todmordon where i have done the Hot Toddy race and really flew round that course

Loved watching this - did this one New Year’s Day 2020 so it was a little colder. My grandma lived in Hyde so I have a lot of memories of playing in that park when I was little so it was great to go back and run it.

I always thought it was in London 😂 the team absolutely made it, just wonderful souls ❤️ so wonderful to have them in parkrunworld! I really loved that tourist visit! 🥰

i did this one today and loved it got 23 mins 50 seconds was 22nd out of 169 defo doing it again very soon loved the run though the woods 3 times o and we had a min quiet at the start sadly on Wednesday one of the regular helpers there passed away a lady called Kath

@@NicolaRuns hi yes i beat last time by 1 min getting 22 then today did Run Bramham 10k getting 46 mins clocking all miles in 7 minute miles had to be careful at one point where last year i slipped in the mud at the briefing before the race today they said a tail runner called Nicola was doing it and i though was that you

Weren't they wonderful?! Sometimes I'm just different places on holiday (like Scotland) but when it comes to parkrun I your around a fair bit as I'm the co-presenter of a parkrun podcast (it's called With Me Now) so we check out different parkrun events. But I went to my home parkrun this week (didn't film it as I've filmed it before) but did the Leeds Half Marathon on the Sunday so filmed that instead 😃 trying to keep it interesting 😊

@@NicolaRuns yes that’s for sure 👌👋 I do it almost every Saturday and we are around 250-400 people, flat and wide surface, friendly people. Free car park at the side of the park but have to be a bit early to find a space to park the car. It is a lovely park especially when the weather is nice too ☀️

I'm not sure what you mean? The cones were out and we were fed into the tokens. Do you mean in case of funnel duckers? 🤔
@@NicolaRuns Yeah, I don't remember seeing a parkrun with no physical funnel after the finish line. As a RD & ED it makes me nervous... As does leaving the tubs for the tokens several metres away from the scanners! 😱
