Rapidan Dam: A Living Landmark

Rapidan Dam: A Living Landmark features the unique history and an inside look at operations of the Rapidan Dam located in South Central Minnesota within Blue Earth County. Rapidan Dam helped shape industrial development in the area and still generates electricity today. Many visitors enjoy the scenic area, park and campground surrounding the historic dam. Notably, the Rapidan Dam was featured in a book by Kate Roberts titled; Minnesota 150: The People, Places and Things That Shaped Our State, in addition to being part of the former Minnesota History Center exhibit.

I read about the Rapidan Dam years ago, and it took until 2021 before I could visit it! I also got to see the Byllesby Dam on that same trip. It is so sad that the house and store were lost when the river went around the dam. 😢
