- The Perfect Electronic Drum Setup for Mini Gigs
Here is my electronic drum setup that you can fit into 1 Protection Racket Hardware case. This is the ideal solution to any gig environment where you can't take up a lot of space, need to set up quickly and quietly, usually can't unload very easily from your car and fundamentally can't make too much noise.
This setup which uses the Roland SPD SX Pro and SPD One Kick fits snuggly into a singe case on wheels, and means that you could even get the bus or train to your gig if you really wanted to. I've been using this as my mini drum kit for over 12 months now and it's been superb and faultless ever since. The SPD One kick means that I don't need to bring a separate bass drum pedal, and I only need to set up one drum stand and one stool to play.
Inside the case, which just so happens to be on wheels is...
1 x Roland SPD SX PRO
1 x Roland SPD One Kick
1 x Roland SPD SX Soft Bag
1 x Pearl Drum Speed Seat
1 x Roland SPD SX Stand
1 x Pro Adapter
1 x SPD 1 Boss Adapter
3 x Jack to Jack lead (1 spare)
1 x Drum Matt
1 x 4 Way Extension Cable
2 x Pairs of Drum Sticks
I've tried the Mono-Output with the One Kick and it's only on one pan-side if I don't use the phone-output with the SPD-30. The SX Pro seems smarter or I did something different. Next week I will know more and hope, I can run two SPD One with the SX Pro without having two single-sided channels like with the SPD-30. I've also added two Roland CY-5 and a BT-1 (now replaced with a SPD One Percussion) to the SPD 30 without using another stand, so just with extensions. I'm planning to replace one of the CY-5 with something better after watching some videos how more costly cymbals sounds like. Unfortunately the quality correlates with the size to match real cymbals. A stupid design-choice IMO.
this channel is useful, many big channels are not explaining clearly like you did! thanks buddy
Thanks mate, so glad you enjoyed the video :)
@@Electronicdrumtips What's your insta id ?
Where did you get the “BIG CARRING BAG” from? Thanks!
Heya mate, it's just a Protection Racket hardware case 🙂👌
@@Electronicdrumtips thanks
Great setup! Which model number of the Protection Racket case do you have? I notice there are a few sizes ranging from 28 inches to 47 inches, so I am curious what size you have. I see a few used out there, and I just may get one. Thanks!
Hey mate I believe mine is the 28" one, I don't have a tape measure to hand but it's not one of the huge ones anyway 🙂🥁
Does the soft Roland case have enough room to fit the SPD SX Pro with the Mount bracket left screwed on as I’ve read many reviews you have to keep taking it off and that’s why I’ve been keeping away from their soft case .
Hiya, I never take mine off no, it fits fine mate 👌
@@Electronicdrumtips ok thanks very much that’s really good to know. Send my regards to Ricky 😉
Great video! Can you please also do a video of you playing it live at a small venue? I’ve just bought a Roland SPD-SX PRO & also want to use it for small gigs & learn home recording. I also want to use it to record drum covers of my favourite songs & try to sample the original drum sounds & learn how to import them into the Roland SPD-SX PRO & create multi-channel drum recordings on my MacBook Pro using Ableton if possible. I’m in my mid-60s now, so learning these new skills is a big learning curve for me, but I still want to be a creative drummer, but without having to load & set up heavy acoustic drums, stands & cymbals etc. I’m very grateful for any advice & hope you can do a lengthy explanatory video to help new (but not so young) electronic drummers how to set up, sample, edit & record etc. Many thanks in anticipation! 🥁
Thanks so much! replied to your other comment my friend 😊 Best of luck with your recording and learning etc, never too late to learn new skills for sure 🥁 👍
Aha there you are 😀
Ah sorry mate I forgot to reply to your email haha 🤣
Sir please make a video on how to record electronic drums sound in laptop for making drum covers and for insta posts!!
I want to know which software is required, how to connect electric drum module to the pc for recording , etc....
which electronic kit do you have
Hi there, I'll have a think on how I can do that yes, You could probably use Logic Pro quite easily and record within that :)
