    Its amazing the things you can learn on YT from everyday folk. I have both SPD-SX (The Red SE & now the SPD-SX Pro) along with the Octapad's. I recently found out you can hook up drum pads to a Roland TR-8S Drum machine . Having seen this, wouldn't it have been awesome if Roland had included 3 digital inputs to the SPD-SX Pro !!! (I get it, would cannibalize sales of the TD-27 & TD-50 modules, but on the other end I'd buy the digital snare/hi-hat & ride ! 😛). Even more astonishing is how Roland NEVER promotes these add'l capabilities about their MPD's and Drum Machine. Gee I wonder why ? 🤔 Thanks for uploading 🙏 Got a sub

      Thanks my friend! I am actually not a huge fan of the digital pads. I owned the TD27 with the ride and snare and wasn’t crazy about either to be honest. But I see why people love them

    Thanks for this video, hardly really anything on the internet about this that isn't from a decade ago. I have very little space and have been using a yamaha DTX12 with a KT-10 and Yamaha HH65 hi hat. Along with a roland CY5 cymbal for hi hat and roland PDX8 for snare. What multipad or module would you recommend? The DTX12 has been giving me a lot of trouble with crosstalk and glitches. The roland seems very appealing but $1200 seems extravagant.

    • @sabadrum
      @sabadrum  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Roland knocks it out of the park! I felt the same way for a while about the price and all, but the fact that it has very good sounds, great editing features, sampling, 4 dual trigger in’s, 4 direct outs, and usb audio recording for 8 channels so you can record separate drum tracks in a DAW, it’s a no brainer. It is also so much better quality than the original SPD SX. None of the other top multipads come close to what this gives you, that’s why it’s so much.

    That's a great set up !!!
    I have the Yamaha multi 12 and I'm still trying to get around to making a set out of that.
    If I ever get the side money up, I would totally get The SPD Pro !!!
    It sounds excellent !!!
    The Yamaha is aged a bit, but it still has it where it's needed.
    I need to use the app so it's easier....lol
    I'll say tomorrow, but I'm so busy, but maybe this time I'll get it up and going.
    Thanks dude !!!

    Great video, I've been thinking about getting a SPD SX Pro and hooking up some pads to record into my DAW. I use Addictive Drums, the Logic Producer Kits, various drum module VSTs and IK MultiMedia Modo drums. I also have some nice Zildjian cymbals from my drumming days so I might try and incorporate those in the set up too.

      @sabadrum  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello there!!! Unfortunately the Pro doesn't support 3 zone ride cymbals, and Roland actually prints that in their Manual. The cymbal will work as regular dual zone, but you can't use the bell zone. This is the same for the TM6 module. However, I am pretty happy using the 'Switch' playmode in which I get my bell sound by hitting the cymbal harder. Won't work for everyone, but you can still technically achieve 3 different sounds on the dual zone cymbal, when you consider the edge as well!

      Thanks for checking out the video man! Yeah, I only ever use the module sounds when I play. I only ever really use VST’s if I am recording with a DAW. The only VST’s I have ever really used are the ones in Logic Pro for the drumset designer. But using the multipads with VST’s requires a good knowledge of mapping that I haven’t been able to figure out yet. So just be ready to figure that out if you have never done so.

    hi, 2 questions: with the dual zone cymbal pad how did you assign 3 sounds? I think I understand that to switch between ride and bell you use the layers function (based on strength). how did you even add the crash sound? if you can explain the procedure to me.
    Can you tell me some other cymbal pad [ roland or others) that can do the same thing because this cymbal avatar is not found in my area ( Italy) thanks! Dario

    • @sabadrum
      @sabadrum  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey! So the dual zone cymbals utilize the bow and edge. With the switch layer mode, with velocity (fade point) you can get 2 sounds on any zone. For me, I use the switch mode on the bow where I could get the bell and bow ride sounds. The edge I just assign as one crash, but if I wanted to, I could use switch on this zone as well and get another sound, so it really could be 4 sounds per dual zone pad. To do all of this, you also need a stereo wire connection and have your pad set to head and rim triggering. Hope this helps! Thanks for checking out my video! Alesis and Roland are the most reliable brands to make dual zone cymbals, but lemon cymbals are also very good and affordable. Hope this helps!

      Ok dear, thanks for the replies. I have a Roland Cy12 CR which as you know has 2 inputs: Cowbell and Edge. How should I connect it? With 2 mono cables in 2 spdsx inputs? With 2 stereo cables always in 2 inputs? Or with a split cable which on one side is stereo to be connected to an input of the spdsx pro and on the other 2 mono to be connected to the 2 inputs of the cy12? All this always to get the sound of the ride, the bell and the crash in the same devices. A thousand thanks.

I used splitters for 2 of the trigger inputs, since each trigger can be split into 2 single zone triggers. You just need to get Y cable 1/4 inch splitters. • @sabadrum
      @sabadrum  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You take a regular stereo 1/4 inch cable and connect it to the output of the pedal and the other end to one of the trigger inputs of the Pro. The KT10 is unique that it is a pedal and trigger combo, so no trigger pad needed. When you’re connected, go to the pad settings in the Pro and select KT10 as the appropriate trigger, good to go! The KT10 also has a mix input for an additional kick pedal, independent from the module! Great way to have a double kick without the hassle of a bulky double bass drum pedal.
