You should add sykaflex around the self bailer to hull join as well as the screw hole. It isn't much but in a one design boat every little advantage is huge
Thanks Callum, Agreed, every bit helps, but interested in the legality of the addition of Sykaflex to decrease drag. Can you confirm that is "ILCA Class legal?" To my knowledge you are not allowed to alter the bailer or hull in anyway nor add or remove additional chemicals to adjust from the original design. We always appreciate the additional tips and tricks from our fellow Laser/ILCA sailors and I'm interested to see what you find out. #ilcalasersailors
@@ILCALaserSailor I'm not too sure, I'll have to check it. At the radial youth worlds I saw lots of boats with mastic or sykaflex in the screw hole and no one got disqualified for it from what I know
Yes still working, but I do find that a combination of the metal spring and black rubber rings is perfect and serves as a bit of redundancy in the system.

@@callumwyper I'll see what I can find out too and try to include that info in videos moving forward. Thanks for watching and your support!⛵🤟👍
Great video, thanks very helpful
Glad it helped and thanks for stopping by!
Good job mate, but I,'ve never seen a screw go in anticlockwise ? 🤔Happy days sailing 😊
Thanks Chris and yes I flipped the screen when editing for a better view and did not realize that would happen too! Busted... thanks for watching!
Are these springs still working for you?

Please don't use 5200 (or 4200). Silkaflex/marine silicone is appropriate if you ever want to do a future repair (planned or unplanned).
Thank you great advice just using what I have around the house and it's always nice to give people options appreciate you watching.
