- Enjoying Unlimited Thali in a 40 year old restaurant in Mumbai in this food vlog. I love Veg food - whether its Gujarati, Marathi, Sindhi or Punjabi. The Gujarati thali was a very enjoyable meal at this fine dine restaurant and I absolutely recommend this place if you want to try out a good veg thali in a premium restaurant amidst elite crowd - foodies visiting regularly and religiously.
'STATUS' - The name itself defines class, known for pure quality veg food, courteous service and ambience that creates a mood to enjoy the delicious food.
If you're a vegetarian and are looking for a place to dine in with family, then this is the perfect dinner for you. Serving delicious vegetarian food only, this restaurant has a very sophisticated ambience. The eatery offers North Indian, South Indian and street food items. Premium Wrap is made of PVDC material. Other cling film does not block oxygen or moisture, so food does not stay fresh for long. Premium Wrap blocks much more oxygen and moisture due to difference of material so keeps food fresh for very long time because of its high barrier value. Other cling film is not microwave safe. Premium Wrap is microwave safe due to higher heat resistance up to 140 ° Celsius compared to other cling film of PVC/PE material. Most of the other cling films do not have a cutter, so a knife or scissor is required to cut the film. OMG! I became so nostalgic, because when I joint my first job in the bank,in that vicinty...we used to go,in this restaurent of course sometimes because we used to find it costly then in 1984 compared to our salary...
Yes it is a bit expensive but considering the quality, service and the crowd that comes in, it's worth. Also, the portion size is good.

I came to Mumbai from Calcutta in 1997 and joined as management trainee in my first job, I remember once i came to mumbai corporate office at ballard pier with finance manager for a half day meeting which went till 5pm and we were hungry like wolves....we went to status and actually ate almost unlimited quantity. This really brings back memory...

I always prefer Thali system in any restaurant. You get everything on one plater, many varities and it is resonably pocket friendly compared to ordering few dishes. Will surely visit this place for it's Thali. Thanks Alka for the sharing.

I remember eating unlimited Thali at Shilpa restaurant at Panch Ratna - opera house during 1982/83 period for Rs.15 unlimited Gujarati Thali, can’t imagine the Kadi wonderful. There used to be Thali restaurant near by which also used to charge Rs.15 during that period. An amazing place Mumbai loved it.

I hail from Punjab(around Chandigarh); turning 65;living in the US for the past 24 years;contemplating to retire. It's only of late that I've begun watching your lovely videos which has made me double minded. I'd made up my mind to retire in Goa but after your videos, I'm tilting towards Mumbai. You've made me "Dal Badloo" though I'm not into politics. What's your suggestion?
That's really nice to know you enjoy watching my videos so much that you have become dal badloo 😃 but my suggestion to you is if you are planning to live a chillax retired life, then probably Goa would be a better choice. Of course you will not get food like Mumbai over there, specially vegetarian but there you may get to live a calm and peaceful life as against the busy life here in Mumbai. You can make annual trips to Mumbai anytime from Goa for a food feast for which you can prepare a list of all the places where you want to eat. I hope my suggestion is helpful for you to take a decision. Stay tuned for a lot of amazing content about yummy food. Thank you ☺️

😊Hi Alka! Long time no see! Amazing vlog! Missed your couple of vlogs earlier due to work. Anyways, would see them later and will comment for sure! Well, i liked the grilled mini vada pav,mini pav bhaji. They were quite unique and i liked the way they can be eaten without getting your hands messy! Apart from that i liked corn bhel,paneer chilly. I would also love to have the Gujrati thali. I loved the way you reviewed each and every item in the thali in detail.That makes the whole dish so attractive and tempting as well! I would also like to have the kesar thandai and Mock pimms and Kiwi caprioska.And finally in desert i liked Gulab Jamun and Kesari Basundi. As usual it was very nicely,shot,reviewed and edited. Yahan ka veg biriyani bohot tasty hai.
Aur veg kurma with reshmi paratha.
Aur south indian items bhi bohot accha mil ta hai, week days me lunch time me,yahan bahar fast food counter me aaju baju ke office ke log aate hai,kyu ki food bohot hi tasty milta hai. Rush hota hai. Phir bhi manage hojata hai.

Veg biryani aur kurma with reshmi paratha Mera favourite hai.
I do have some fond memories of Status Restaurant. I had been there many years ago when I was working at Nariman Point. Food has been extremely tasty then too. But as stated below, cost wise it has been expensive right from the beginning. I am not sure if parking is available there. ( please share). Would visit in coming days. Thanks for sharing.

Love your videos as we watch from Seattle, USA. One suggestion regarding eating sliders or mini vada pav that have a toothpick to hold the bread or sandwich together, consider removing the toothpicks before eating the slider or burger, as it makes it easier to hold it in one hand or two hands to eat without the toothpick coming in the way.
