Awesome comparison as always! Glad to see Marvel keeping the quality up there with the new printings! I agree that 251 is one of the most iconic covers of all time. Would love to have that as a print without the trade dress.

It honestly surprised me for a book this size.
They’re advertising an OOP book (x tinction agenda OHC) inside this new printing. Hopefully that means it’s getting a reprint or omnibus reformat.
I think it would be great to put that and Days of Future Present in one omnibus format.
Near Mint Condition agreed. Double up lots of those OHCs or add a few issues from something else, call it an omnibus, take my money.
@@NearMintCondition Or maybe _X-Tinction Agenda_ and _Bishop's Crossing_ (which is now a hugely-expensive mega-whale on eBay) into a new combined Omnibus (which would also technically allow them to get around David Gabriel's "only Omnis get reprints"-rule).

This is when I started reading X-Men back in the day, so I'd say it works well enough as a jumping on point. The stories and art are so damn good that I didn't care that some of it didn't make sense right away. I was in for the long haul. At least y'all have wikipedia now.

I’ve been trying to do one X-men omnibus a month but because of the move arounds I’m trying to do both of these and new mutants at the same time. My wallet is aching.

Siperstoked for this. My first xmen comics I have ever read as a kid were in the vol 2 omnibus. I have never read the stories that led up to it. So this will be cool.
I loved the 90’s x-men animated series. What’s the best jumping in point? No issue if something is not ongoing anymore; not looking to be committed to a perpetual storyline anyways.
I preordered the DM cover. Before I preordered I probably took two weeks before deciding on the cover. I really liked Magneto looking over everyone but the DM had more members of the X Team on the cover with Storm looking way too cool and fine lol.

I managed to grab the last copy at my LCS.....DM cover that is, so I got vol 1 & 2 DM and my set is complete !
Why anyone would dislike this is beyond me.....i am guessing all those dislikes is because their wallet is taking a beating and I wouldnt take it personal lol :)

Omar you should ask David to add the rest of the X-tinction Agenda issues. It's like six more issues, and at only 720 pages and $125, it's kinda of a small Omni, and the six extra issues would put it around 852 pages. Then the Omni would feel more complete.

Like the old adventure comics were great because the writers were raised on pulp novels, X-men by Claremont is great because Claremont knows how to write a good long form soap opera.
Been anticipating this for most of the year. Kind of disappointed that the Jim Lee book does not include his issues from X-Tinction Agenda as those issues made up much of his run. I realize it's double-dipping omnibus-wise; but I really hope Marvel continues its Uncanny volume line and includes those issues someday. Since that may never happen or won't happen for years, I will probably buy this anyway. Perhaps not during what would have been during the wallet bursting week "originally" though.
It was a straight reprint so we knew that would happen.. Now the question is: What to do with the X-tinction Agenda OHC and how do we get that reprinted? Include the Days of Future Present story with it and call it an omnibus?
@@NearMintCondition Including Days of Future Present with X-Tinction Agenda is the more likely route toward both stories being released in omnibus format. Basically paying for the omnibus format and not the size of the omnibus though. Maybe include other appearances in other titles during 1990-91 by the X-Men to pad out the omnibus?

Where dose ALF #44 take place during this time? its came out in August 1991 and its the ALF and X-Men crossover issues? Before or after Uncanny-X-Men 245?

Don't know why they didn't print out the rest of Calremonts Uncanny before this one. It's a bit weird to reprint the 3rd Omni, and do a 4th omnibus, and then skip all the way to this later half of the run.

In regards to the Siege Perilous and the transformations that followed, I was deeply moved by Peter Rasputin's change. He became Peter Nicholas, a successful artist. #Tears
Awesome review! The Alpha Flight covers got me wondering if they've ever collected Jim Lee's Alpha Flight issues in an OHC or omni.
Great comparison Uncanny Omar. The binding of the new edition is concerning if its already coming apart when you view the eye.
To me the same thing happened to my Avengers west coast 2, Alpha Flight, Superman exile and a couple of others. They still hold up good.
So hard to decide on a cover full image cover in standard vs the portrait (?) cover of the dm variant, the dm would match the Liefeld X-force omni but both are so cool
Got my copy today. The print quality on marvel titles was terrible during the period when most if not all the issues collected here first came out. That alone is reason to get this edition. Why did the print quality Of most of not all marvel and DC titles take a nosedive from. Around 89 to 91 anyway?

Can't wait for more comprehensive reading order. I'm slowly going through the 2017-2018 books in soft covers or TPBs. Confusing. X-Men Gold, Blue, Jean Grey, Cable, RessurXion, Astonishing, Red, Black, Weapon X, Rogue & Gambit, Return of Wolverine, and Extermination.
How did you like 2017-2018 x-men?
In the upcoming Alf Omnibus (yes Omar, we know it's coming!), will there be some materials from Uncanny X-Men #245?

Absolutely. If you enjoy the Silver Age, go for Uncanny X-men volume 1. If you like more modern books get on that New X-men or Astonishing...they rest as they say, will come. :)

I got Uncanny X-men vol 1 for Christmas, just got vol 2, I have 3 & 4 on preorder with the 2 volumes of Claremont and Lee. I also preordered the Inferno Omnibus. I can’t get the hardcovers to some events, so I’m getting milestones so that I can match your pre-image years reading order! You inspired me to want to create my own channel that I’m working on!

This is from the late 80s/early 90s. So you are in luck.
I bought the original printing years ago and I liked most of it, but it's definitely NOT a good jumping on point. Volume 2 would probably be better for jumping on since it starts a new X-Men roster and...well, you actually get an X-Men roster in that one, rather than having everyone scattered all over the place like in this volume. I'd also imagine it must've been weird reading these when they were published since this went on for a year and a half, though I didn't start reading X-Men until 1993 and never got any of these issues, so I don't know. But yeah, good collection, but definitely NOT newbie friendly.
Does this include Avengers Annual # 10 Opening with Rogue as a villain and eventually joining the xmen in said omnibus?

Because this is labelled Claremont and Lee however it has lots of other talent in it, why can’t other creator focused omnibus have other talent included to keep it a complete run?
Such as PAD X Factor and Hulk.
I think X-men just sells and they've had it mapped out for a long time.

Hey Omar, my copy arrived yesterday. I am confused about something however. Why is this simply titled 'X-Men' instead of 'Uncanny X-Men' when all but 2 or 3 of the included issues are Uncanny X-Men comics? By my reckoning this probably might have mapped to to being a UMX Volume 6, given that Vols. 4 & 5 are coming this year. Do you have any sage advice on this oh wise one? ;)
Pretty much Jim Lee, helped launch the second ongoing monthly X-men series, just called X-men, which is found in volume 2.

So is buying Fall of the Mutants and the Inferno books necessary? Buying Inferno, Inferno Prologue and Fall will get quite expensive.

I've always been curious, does it say second printing anywhere in the book? They do it in comicbooks but never knew if they did do it for trades.

@@JulioVegaArt I’m pretty sure the original cover was listed on there, but if it’s not showing now it would have sold out. I went with the DM variant cover, I preferred that one. They may get more stock of the original back in, but it can be risky waiting sometimes.

Forgive my stupidity. I remember "X-Men" breaking off from Uncanny as its own title as a second X-Men team with wolverine and had those comics back in the day, but this seems to collect mostly Uncanny X-Men so I am confused. Since getting back into comics this last year, I was hoping to get that "X-Men" run in omni format- but this is NOT that?
