If they did that I think this will be my 3rd or 4th 99 skill I can already tell I will be heavily invested in this skill can’t wait for the full release!
This update seems a good a time as any to give a free bank size increase, there's a lot of resources here and not to mention produced items that you'd want to be storing.

@@benw-l7kThere was another poll after that one to lock in Sailing during one of the summits. Honestly there were like 4 skilling polls (do you want a skill? What type of skill, which one should we invest more time into, should we make this skill) so I understand not realizing the poll was done already.
I for one, am thankful to see jagex cooking & waiting until its finished instead of giving us a rushed skill. Ive wanted sailing ever since it was an urban legend when i was a lil kid, the idea is so whimsical and fun - its almost like its an RPG!
You guys have done a great job on this so far! I'm definitely excited for the skill, but I'm glad Jagex is taking the time to really flesh out the skill and make sure it is implemented correctly. I look forward to the final product.
I agree. I feel like the current iteration of the Kraken boss doesn't make much sense. How did they get a gigantic creature like him into that tiny little cave, and why? Just a thought, Pirates of the Caribbean 2 is a great example of how to do a Kraken fight right. Kraken myths have always been about ships being lost at sea. This is the perfect opportunity to give a refresh to that old boss, or better, to create a more lucrative, non-AFK alternative. Maybe it's a group boss, even.
Would be nice to revamp older quests! There's clear room in quests like bone voyage that could use a different sailing mechanic. I'd say DS1 too, but as an F2P quest it may not work.
I'm just looking forward to the quests. Maybe finally Cold War II where the penguins have a giant mech penguin submarine. Maybe Tourist Trap II where the ol prison warden who we rescued that little girl from wants to use our ship as his last sailing voyage. Maybe even the Pub Crawl II with us having to sail a bunch of college party barbarians from place to place for their Broken Springtime party.
For the first time this skill finally feels like it makes sense. Not that we didn't appreciate the previous updates, but this one finally gives us an insight into what we'll be doing with this and how it's catered towards each player type. I for one, am very excited for sailing and all the new content that comes along with it.
My concern is that even with all of this information, the skill looks unappetizing and unfun.. like, the execution is good, but the idea is bad. - Hope they'll prove me wrong
@@chrisbeck3266 If you compare it to 80% of the existing skills in the game its very old school... Majority of the skills are unappetizing and unfun in general.
I know it's not technically sailing, but it would be cool if the skill was opened up to inland waterways like lakes [future content/Molch] and rivers for canoeing and rafting to teach early game mechanics of movement. The current waterways are probably too tight for that, but it might make for interesting content for future regions/region additions. Barracuda trials canoeing through the toxic wastes or similar.
When i see this all i can think about is how the dev time could be better used impoving the skills that people dislike. Agillty, smithing, firemaking, hunter, mining, runecrafting any of them could have seen a overhaul and improvement for 1/10 of the resources pumped into this. This just feels like off brand osrs no mans sky.
Looks great. Back when I saw this like 6 or so months ago, I was concerned with the boat movement. But with the movement looking great now, looks very promising!
i'm a pro sailing guy, and i was hoping they'd improve the navigation since we last saw it. I really like that not luffing doesnt slow you down, and the arrow showing where the mouse is looks good
Multi skill stuff seems to me like the best way to add more content! Farming underwater for mermaids, slaying large sea monsters for slayer, piracy to train thieving, maybe a super large ship that is static at port as a new agility course (goal is to steal stuff too maybe like stealing creations), island expeditions like hunter rumors could be great ways to do combat and resource gathering like woodcutting, mining, herblore, crafting could come from new shell jewelry and fletching could be making new crossbow/ballista bolts for mounted weapons on the ship
@ I like that too I was just thinking we have rooftop courses in every continent now so maybe a huge sailing ship themed one would be a cool thing to see and actually interact with if you’re not a fan of actually sailing
A lot of people are asking for things that can be done in Ultima Online and honestly, i do hope this can replicate that experience closely! Going out fighting pirate ships, raiding merchant ships and beacons is my favourite thing to do and i can spend hours getting lost in that gameplay, so i am so excited for sailing to come to Old School!

I wanna see RAIDS 4 underwater, going into a typhoon or whirlpool and mysteriously ending up in some Marianas trench type thing while fighting legendary creatures in there and unlocking a megarare item like a shield equivalent to scythe / tbow / tumeken
It's got nothing to do with travel. I don't know why I am saying this because it's been said 1000 times and it obvious. So much of sailing is unrelated to getting to a destination. Are you trolling or do you generally not understand? lol
I've got to say that this new skill has a very old school vibe. Kudos to the devs for, in the era of modern streamlined theme park mmos, having a restraint that has created that classic mmo vibe in this skill.
Eventually you should be able to sail to islands that you can get off the boat and actually walk around on. Maybe some unique bossing or mobs to go along with it. Would also be a fun place to hangout with other players
I think figureheads should be a key part of upgrading your vessel. Some figureheads could give movement buffs, others strenght, defense, hp, manuverability, or special attacks, for example. And these figureheads would need higher sailing level just like bows from ranged require higher ranged level. I still think it is more suitable as a minigsme but I am slowly getting convinced by the skill. I am not looking to play Euro Truck Simulator, transporting goods from one harbour to the other, though. That seems boring.
Now I can manually sail somewhere that I could already teleport to? Woohoo!!!! I'm sure it won't be agonizing to train to 99 so I can get my max cape back once it comes out.
Just because you say "its more than just a transport skill" doesn't make it more than a transport skill, when it really is a skill about transportation, with area/ boss/ resources locked behind not being able to transport to those locations.
Honestly you guys are doing a great job. It seems engaging and intuitive. It will certainly be interesting to see what it's truly like, keep up the good work

I like everything except 2 things 1 I find the "current duck" to be vert strange. I am not against following an npc but a duck feels strange. Suggestion how about npc ships that we follow. 2 The notice board looks over designed/detailed. I just think there is way too much going on with the board to the point where it looks very out of place to the point where it's clear it wasn't there originally.
Overall the skill is starting to look pretty dang fun, however I'm a bit worried about the daily port tasks. I wouldn't want to have to wait for a certain day to train effectively

In the real world sailing is all about exploration and handling the ship along the way makes sense that doing those things would give xp to the skill.

You could tie in Construction with sailing in crafting boat upgrades and items for your boat

agility is just a jumping skill in a game where u cant jump… slayer ist just a gathering skill… these things already exist and most people like slayer
What about the fact that you can use your ship in combat? Is it still *just* a transportation skill?

I doubt they'll ever reintroduce summoning considering they've used most assets to create stuff like pets.
I was starting to lose faith in the skill, but this video has really improved my outlook. Keep up the good work!
It's so disappointing to see he box partake in this and promote it. And it's still even more of a shame that Jagex is continuing this farce at all. The blind leading the blind. The salvaging reminds me so much of TLoZ: Wind Waker. This is a very exciting development from this skill for me!

sorry to say but this skill isn't it.
I like everything except 2 things
1 I find the "current duck" to be vert strange. I am not against following an npc but a duck feels strange. Suggestion how about npc ships that we follow.
2 The notice board looks over designed/detailed. I just think there is way too much going on with the board to the point where it looks very out of place to the point where it's clear it wasn't there originally.
Overall the skill is starting to look pretty dang fun, however I'm a bit worried about the daily port tasks. I wouldn't want to have to wait for a certain day to train effectively
Probably that part will be something like Farming has trees that you plant and wait. You basically do it daily, like you will port tasks later
Farming ia already dailyscape, but I kind of agree with you. Need to be careful about it
