1986 Oldsmobile Toronado Brougham - Walkaround & Drive - 39k Miles!

  • Let's go for an afternoon drive in this stunning 1986 Oldsmobile Toronado Brougham! With 39k miles and finished in two-tone Light/Dark Driftwood Clearcoat with matching interior and hard-loaded with Sport Wheel, Sport Console, and full power buckets, this Toro may very well one the finest examples left in existence.
All-new for '86 and riding the shortened FWD E-body, this Toronado continued in the traditional of technological advancement, showcasing a digital dash, information center, and also the return to hidden headlamps.
This second round of downsizing proved to be a bridge too far for most personal luxury coupe buyers and sales suffered, adding to the rarity of this early 4th-generation Tornado.
This particular Toro comes new from Michigan with a Michigan title but was kept in Florida virtually since new as a 'condo car' used by its snowbird owners since new. Pampered and it shows, this car is as fully-functioning as you'll find on a car of this age. All displays are clear and all power options work as intended, including the headlamp doors, antenna, and digital cluster!
Enjoy this video walkaround and drive and, as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to call/text me at 727-226-3097.
    See you on the road!

P.S. This video is dedicated to the memory of my late father, Ron, who ordered what ended up being the first Trofeo in Florida, a black on black '87 with an Astroroof and NEC car phone. He would've loved to have seen this one and I wish I could've taken him for one last drive. :)

That car is beautiful. And for a car of that age and condition, it's almost unheard of. I sort of miss 80s cars. Comfort was definitely more of a priority back then.

My grandfather had an 88 in blue with blue leather. Very cool but it has a dumpy tranny and engine starts sucked because it would flood occasionally

Thanks for the trip down memory lane...I had an 87 with the same interior but the exterior was more of a champaign metallic and aluminum wheels instead of the wire wheel covers. Took it on a road trip to L.A. and what a sweet ride that was! Also had a 79 Toronado...Both were great cars and not a bit of trouble with either one!

Toronado's were always ahead of their time, nice review. That digital dash was straight out of Back To The Future a multitude of buttons, this example seems to have held up well.

Ha!..I had one too..awesome car. Especially the Trofeo. White with red leather gut. Pwr roof..horseshoe shifter. Badass luxury performance vehicle. Funny you mentioned about the snow. I ended up spinning out in to oncoming traffic and luckily only smacked into the guardrail..my fault, not the cars. This was back in the late 90’s..my kids loved that car too.

Beautiful car. So nice that tan interior rather than the usual 80s "Bordello Maroon." And don't crack on that incredible digital dash! I prefer it'e exacting figures over an imprecise needle gage any day. My 1989 Olds Cutlass Supreme FWD coupe had a blackout switch, similar to a Saab, which blacked out all interior lights besides just the digital speedo's actual number. It was a cool feature and I wonder if it can be done on this car. I guess no coincidence as GM had ownership of Saab during those years.

Brings back memories. Nice looking car, but WAS, INDEED to me small. If it were a little longer in the back and a little wider, it would've been a pretty cool body style.
It was due for a makeover, but that was just too excessive.

If you EVER come across the ORIGINAL 1965/1966 TORONADO, you will see what a BEAUTIFUL car really is. Not this ! This is what happened after the Government started regulating. The Olds Toronado the Buick Riviera and the Eldorado were the cream of the crop. I personally liked the 1966 Buick Riviera best. They looked like a personal luxury car. They all gave Thunderbird a run for the money.

Was kinda expecting the interior to be more similar to the 86 regency (which I just watched a review of). This is way better IMO. This seems to have more character, more tech and luxury options as well, I def like this more-so. Thx 4 the thorough review!
BTW… be careful with letting n e music play during ur vids. YT can be A-Hole’s abt copyright stuff.

While I'd rather have a later Trofeo for styling, FE3 and a little more guts underhood, this is a really clean car. Wonder what it went for - doubt it has collector value yet given the confirguration (does being yellow with wires help or hurt here, lol) 3k - pre-supply chain failure, maybe 5.5-6k now?

When buying an older car with low miles, is there any concern about dried out / expired parts inside regardless of miles?
I’ve read about gaskets and such that maybe an issue, again regardless of mileage. Is that true?

    • @jcrowellz2000
      @jcrowellz2000 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'm not sure about gaskets, but the 35 year old plastic vacuum lines and rubber hoses may be dry rotted. Also the transmissions on these are the weak point. I have an '86 Toronado with the black and gray paint job. Great motor but the transmission died on me a few months after i bought it
