Rear suspension had a plastic leaf spring, plus the air (compressor) shocks. Thanks for posting this! It takes me back to my favorite of 4 Toronados I owned from late 70s to early 90s. A great little ride!
My Dad had an '88 fully loaded Toronado but not Trofeo which aside from appearance tweaks was the same car. It had the FE3. It was grey with red leather, coolest car in the world to me back then. 3800 had some good shove back then, I specifically remember. Great car, he sold it with 175k miles.
The dark blue exterior color is extremely rare on this car. Most were manufactured in black, white or Burgandy. Absolutely stunning car. I hope you keep it completely stock and original. Please put the emblems back on as it will complete the car.
Congrats on your car. I can tell you love it. I hope it gives you plenty of service. I own a 1992 Oldsmobile Toronado. I have the same cluster. They did change it in 1990. I prefer your interior door handles over the ones in my Toronado. The car grew in size thankfully too. There was or is a lot of technology that was ahead of its time.
Great price, man! I always loved these old Trofeos. They were such a unique design. Not many of these survive today and hopefully the wide array of GM front wheel drive cars like these will become the new collector car one day. Join the Oldsmobile Club of America.
This is the car that Charles Bronson drives in _Death Wish 4._ Same color, too. I watched that movie recently and that car caught my eye. I had no idea what it was so I had to look it up in imcdb. Very nice.
Great Car. I had an '88 Trofeo about 6 years ago. I regretted selling it and tried to find a shorty trofeo ('88-'89) earlier this year. I had to settle on a '92. I prefer the compact, tighter and smaller Trofeo. I really liked the aviator shifter. why they dropped it in '90 is beyond me. How did you come upon this great car?
I had one back in the day. Still love the looks. Thanks for making the video!

Hey how has the car been for you? I just bought one with in about the same shape as yours! What size tires do you have too?
I'm looking at one of these with low miles thinking about getting it and doing a engine and trans swap from a 05 Impala SS
Very cool futurist to your age!
