Even after 2 years this video blows away any of the other WaterMitt Monkey videos out there! Like others said…awesome lighting, editing, planning, shot cycle & proof!
Thank you so much for this video. I was one of many people who was lead to believe that I didn’t have to do anything with my ceramic coating. I’m from Australia where we have very hot summers with periods of rain. My car is covered in water spots. The roof has lost its hydrophobic qualities. I’ve been recommended to use Adam’s Water Spot remover. I’m about to give it a go and see how it turns out. Again, thanks for a great video.
Its a shortcoming of all coatings…leading to the side-effect of watermark stains if not frequently washed. Abusing the coating with frequent usage of water mark removers and/or other chemicals will significantly affect the coating. Hence…the huge market for spray-type products….to give the illusion that the original, partially coating is still “healthy”. Actually, after one year, the entire coated paintwork is just depending on the “life support” of these spray products to keep the “self bluffing” game alive.
who is this guy? cloning services required. What an awesome video / information. On a serious note, I just fucked up my new truck pain with hard water spots, and will probably have to take it back to get the ceramic corrected
Excellent video. Just a quick question, how can we know if the ceramic coating is still on our car or not after i have removed the waterspots with a a product called Ecoclean DELETE?
Hey Hery, hydrophobicity is one of the indicators and easiest ways to determine. Beside this, color depth and stain resistance can be an indicator too. that said, always check with your coating installer or manufacturer on their chemical resistance prior to chemically decontaminate a coated surface.
this is one very interesting topic, which a lot of non - car detailing enthusiasts don't know about. most of them says, coating, forever shiny. ahaha. Malaysia temp + hard water : die loh. ahahah. tq lah for the explanation bang. :)
Very well made and informative video. I've been searching for info on how long in general and at what temp should a short wave IR lamp be used to cure a coating in general. And once cured, what level of curing is achieved with the IR curing. Can the customer immediately drive off into the rain?
it varies. Min curing time for our OSREN coating recommendation is 15 mins @ 70 Celsius (partial top cure), a fully curing will take up to 45 mins+/- @ 70 celcius. Also a full cure would help prevent watermark, but it isn't proofing it either. Our experiment did show promising results when cured for 45 mins
I just had my black car ceramic coated last january and recently its been raining non stop here, I noticed that the hydrophobic became weak should i spray over the counter ceramic sprays?
Hey Mclovin, yes that could be one of the way to boost hydrophobicity. It might be also due to embedded dirt that are hindering it. Sometimes after performing minor maintenance without any sprays, it might improve it. But please do check with your installer on this, different coating has different resistance and reaction.
I have HUGE water spot problem on my ceramic coated car. Every time I wash the car, it will leave water spots. And no, I dont wash it under direct sunlight. I tried polishing it with DA polisher, and it helped a bit, but some water spots still remain. I think the water spots have etched into the paint. My car is black, and the water spots (more like blemish rather than spots btw) are bluish grey and very visible. Short of repainting the car, is there anything else I can do? Thanks a lot.
Hey, so a good coating should prevent blemishes from occurring too soon. May we ask what is the frequency of each car wash? Also, it is a unicoat paint or with clear coat?
Wow I love this style of video. I’m a detail shop owner and I want to create some vids like this for my customers education on our products and services. Any helpful tips you can share? I don’t have much of a budget for a video guy
Hey Gregory! Thank you for the comment. 😁. Also, if you are not enjoying the process, don’t do it. Contents can be forced out, but it’ll bare no soul and not so engage able with audience, I guess 😅. So have fun and good luck 😬
hey! awesome video as always. i have a question. i got my car ceramic coated and its first wash is due after 2 days. but unfortunately there was rain in my area and now my car has drops all over it and they also dried up on the car. i am worried whether this would damage the ceramic coating or leave water spots. should i really wait 2 more days for the first wash ?
Use a rinseless wash. The reason why there is a waiting time for it to be washed is to ensure the coating fully cures. In this case rinseless wash doesn't expose it to water for a long duration of time that would mess with the curing. You could just rinseless wash(wipe) and dry immediately.
Hi. So my car is ceramic coated but got rained on then got exposed to the heat of the sun so it dried. I already washed it but there are still light “remnants”’of the rain that I cant even remove with vinegar solution. Will the water spot removers help or do I need to take it to a professional?
Best to bring it to an installer or professional to have it dealt with. If the coating has not cured but have exposed to rain/water, re-polishing and application might be a better way to deal with it (last resort), using acid might not be the best way to go about it as coating has not fully cure. We suggest leaving it to the pros. vinegar is too weak of acid to perform any task for detailing matters.
Where do we get this in Sydney? It seems to be the only product that doesnt just take out fresh water spots but older ones too. A bit concerned it isn't more of a gel consistency but we'll see.
Hi there! We are located at Mount Druitt, or you can find this product on osren.com.au 😁. It is not gel consistency because we want it to fully contact the surface. A gel would cling to the surface but it would spread out to wet the surface hence we find it to be less efficient in our point of view
Hi, thanks for this informative video first. I will be happy if you answer my question. I bought a new car and it was coated with Wetproof Bionica. After 15 days, when i wash my car i noticed water spots. Firstly when i touched them, i could feel them but now i can’t. I tried to remove them with Carpro Spotless 2.0 and Tonyin Waterspot Remover but nothing changed. So my question is; are water spots under the ceramic coating? Will they ruin ceramic coating and clear coat or just sit there? how can i remove them? And should i remove all coating with polishing heavy cut?
Hey Kadir, if you have tried using the above said products and couldn't dissolve the waterspots, a sure way to remove it is to compound and recoat it. waterspot usually forms above the coating layer. However if paint correction and inspection aren't done properly prior to applying the coating, this means that the defect isn't removed and was coated over. most compounds with a cutting pad should be sufficient to remove the coating
Thanks for your answer. If i leave these spots without any treatment, will it continue to etch through the clear coat? or should i polish them immediately?
Hey Joo02, thank you for your enquiry. For microfibre and m/f mitt, it's washable and reusable after washes. It should last very long. Hey John, applying wax or any lsp on the surface isn't going to prevent altogether the possibility of mineral buildup on the surface at this point of writing. (Prolong the duration needed for mineral buildup would be a more realistic expectation, but definitely not 100% prevention) that said, maintenance by means of regular washing to prevent watermark from forming or maintenance demonstrated in this video is the way to go. It's not a bad idea to apply a wax or compatible lsp over the coating. But please check with your service provider/supplier.
Why bother with all that? Just get it wrapped and forget about it. Making something simple so complex reduces one’s quality of life my bro. Do I want to spend all that time and money on just cleaning a car, or spend that time and money driving it and making life moments happen?
Thx for info, but there is no way u do all this manual labor every week ?? I paid 5k euro for the best ceramic coating for 5 years, I can just go to an automatic carwash right ?
Hey Eric, our recommendation is not to bring it to the automatic carwash, especially one with lots of brushes. You don't have to wash it weekly, that's loosely based on our tropical weather where it rains almost every week. but we do recommend washing it properly and frequently to avoid marring on the coating and paint. Maintenance has always been a big part of ensuring our properties/ownership last long and staying functional. You can always refer back to your service provider on how to properly care for your car, they would know best.

Hey John, applying wax or any lsp on the surface isn't going to prevent altogether the possibility of mineral buildup on the surface at this point of writing. (Prolong the duration needed for mineral buildup would be a more realistic expectation, but definitely not 100% prevention)
that said, maintenance by means of regular washing to prevent watermark from forming or maintenance demonstrated in this video is the way to go.
It's not a bad idea to apply a wax or compatible lsp over the coating. But please check with your service provider/supplier.
DAILY MORNING DEW

Chemistry is crazy.
Lol no no no god dam it no no 😂
Why bother with all that? Just get it wrapped and forget about it. Making something simple so complex reduces one’s quality of life my bro. Do I want to spend all that time and money on just cleaning a car, or spend that time and money driving it and making life moments happen?
Why are you wearing a surgical mask lol?
