I got chills running down my spine and tears of nostalgia in my eyes watching this! Those were the days; those days of rare talent, creativity and originality are sadly long gone. WNBC Channel 4 is not the same nowadays, especially without Sue Simmons, who along with Chuck Scarborough was one of the major faces of WNBC Channel 4. I vividly remember watching 'Live At Five with Chuck and Sue'. I used to tune in every evening after work. Those were the good old days!👍 #Forever4NewYork✔
@@stukazzo8026 I believe they actually released this song on CD through a phone number on the screen to call way back then of course it is long out of print! But I've been looking everywhere online most notably ebay for a copy and no such luck! Lost media now I suppose? Damn! 🤔🌇🏙💿
Lmaooooooo wow u right 😂 Jay Leno was my man hated Letterman til I got older .. n I only watch ch 7 now but back in these HS days I only watched ch 4 & ch 9 out of Seacaucus for some reason lol
You know something I have some memories of this song when I first visited New York back in 1992 and I agree it's a catchy song and it also sounds motivational.
I feel like after 9/11 New York slowly lost its New York spirt. After Hurricane Sandy happened it seemed like New York was gaining back their New York spirt with the Sandy concert but then you realized that they didn't. It's sad because even though New York is still great, amazing, and fantastic I don't think it will ever gain back it's New York spirt like it shows in this video.
FABULOUS. Really caught alot of the essence of New York City. Each time I watch it, it seems like I can see something new. Great fliming, editing and love the characters used. Wonderful diverse faces of NYC from all over the world. Tune I still have never forgotten, Probably the best TV channel promo I ever saw and they used all of the News Center 4 people as well....
It's amazing how the years pass. I am only 36 (born 1987) and I found myself humming this at work--and NOT ONE of my coworkers knew what I was singing! Even the second-oldest behind me in my department has no memory of this--and he's 31!
I remember this song being stuck in my head back then and still think of it when watching channel 4 News now in 2019. I didn't realize it was so long ago! 🤯
Recently the new ad's are playing in the Taxi entertainment network and a quick search found all of those "vintage" versions. I think they are so "New York". Thanks for posting. I love watching the optimism and fun they portray :)
New York has changed over the years and it’s getting worse especially with all this gun violence and people living in fear of their safety it’s so sad that nobody is doing anything about it.
this may be an old advertisement for NBC4 and NYC herself...BUT today is November 1, 2009...and the ING NYC marathon brought the world to her streets....and not for anything but an American won the mens division..WAY TO GO MEB!
I remember this. Looking back this ad was so weird considering the time period. Made the city look like it was some magical carefree place when it was anything but.
this year, June 2012, marks the 20th anniversary of "4 New York" (the song/branding). Hopefully they'll bring back the campaign this summer along with a logo change to celebrate.
🚨ch 4 def needs to throw this on the air whenever they got some extra mins to spare or even right before the 11pm news .. mann I used to luv Sue Simmons pretty eyes as a kid
WNBC revived the campaign following the 9/11 attacks. The city recovered from the event greatly, but the recovery ended in September 2019 even though it was barely interrupted during the 2008 financial crisis. The reason why the recovery ended was because of the repo market collapsing. Five months later the coronavirus pandemic began and the climate crisis is going to devastate New York much worse than anything else.
Kiyema, There is a 'WNBC 4 New York' version with the Twin Towers presented with an excellent view. Check out the 'WNBC-We're 4 New York-Higher-Quality tvarkofficial video, labeled 3.50 minutes, there you'll see them not once but twice. Hope this helps.
In This Video Clip Of WNBC-TV's We're 4 New York Video Promo From Summer 1992, The WNBC-TV's On-Air Newsteam At The Time, We're In It, And They We're Len Berman, Al Roker, Chuck Scarborough, Dawn Fratangelo, Sue Simmons, Ralph Penza, And Carol Jenkins.
However, the campaign wasn't popular with New Yorkers. It was criticized for making the city look like a generic Midwest town. That's no surprise, since the GM of the station came from KSDK in St. Louis, where he made the station NBC's strongest affiliate...and image promos were an integral part of his plans.
yep, I was recording the Barcelona Summer Olympics and grabbed this on tape, still have it. Still looking for the ABC promo (We Belong Together) that ran during the 1986 Statue of Liberty 200th. That one as good or better. PS 86th st in Queens IS at the end of LGA runway, hence the really low plane.
This is how I imagined America to be back in 1993 in former Soviet Union, and it was, for the first few months in 1994/1995...but then it slowly went downhill to where we are right now.
abderaman alzemouri Propoganda or not, the hope for the future was there - everything was improving with every passing year, that is until 2001 and that's when shit really hit the fan.
You're thinking of the 1980's. The Transit Authority eliminated grafitti from trains by like 1989 or 1990, and it probably helps that the trains shown were among the newest in the system at the time of this being filmed.
does anyone know where on here where the KSDK St Louis version is?...I remember seeing it on here a few years ago. It is the one the GM put together before heading to NY
Well there was a limited pressing of the song released at the time, but you had to call to order it back then and I'm sure it's now a highly prized collector's item now if you're lucky to a copy now?
wnbc should make an updated version of this for the 2012 summer olympics. (not the 2007 version....that obe is to fast paced. plus there are no nbc chimes at the end)

Same here. But New York is not the same anymore. Lived here my whole life and never thought I'd want to leave as badly as I do now. Damn shame.

Ahhh, but it was Jack Cafferty and Sue Simmons on LAF with Don Pardo announcing.
it was uh. it was the news. it was just the news.
This took me back to my childhood 😢.. I remember hearing this then Jay Leno coming on before bed… good times man …..

I love this video! I can watch it over and over again!
No one mentions how friggin' catchy this song is. God it's addictive.
Terrific song, though it's an oddly '70s vibe for 1992.
But who caught the bouquet? 🤔
You know something I have some memories of this song when I first visited New York back in 1992 and I agree it's a catchy song and it also sounds motivational.
**sighs** Back when New York was TRULY New York.
guy2008rules what before 9/11

After 9/11 the city completely changed. It’s so sad
time will only tell.
After the 9/11 attacks on The Twin Towers New York lost it’s spirit and it will never be the same anymore.
This song just came up in my mind, wondering if I could find this theme song to recapture my childhood of the 1990s - and this is really it!
This is such a catchy tune. This promo was when Al Roker was doing the local weather. Look how young Len Berman looked. Still love it! :D

Brings back great memories. Wish nyc was still this
This is really good. News 4 New York should continue using this song.
Why didn’t WNBC kept News 4 New York after 1995 since it’s start in the 1980s?
Recently the new ad's are playing in the Taxi entertainment
network and a quick search found all of those "vintage" versions. I think they are so "New York". Thanks for posting.
I love watching the optimism and fun they portray
:)
hey! Len Berman, Al Roker, Sue Simmons, Ralph Penza and i think Michelle Marsh! man, Sue even had tons of energy back then!
And she swore on live TV lol.
Coming from Chicago, being in NYC in 1992 cemented the fact, that New York is truly THE GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD!!!!!!
New York has changed over the years and it’s getting worse especially with all this gun violence and people living in fear of their safety it’s so sad that nobody is doing anything about it.

FYI
0:21 WPLJ's Scott Shannon "Good Morning, Everybody"
0:23 WPLJ's Todd Clark Pettingill " Its going to be a beautiful day in New York City...."
This never gets old. Loved it.
This is so vital, because our city is stronger and determined to become a city of hope!
this year, June 2012, marks the 20th anniversary of "4 New York" (the song/branding). Hopefully they'll bring back the campaign this summer along with a logo change to celebrate.
Nothing would make me happy but to sing that song and be able to put new words to bring hope for our world.
now that i see this again, WNBC HAS to bring this back!!
Actually WNBC did bought back the 4 New York branding back in late 2000s it still here to stay!
thanks for the correction, and i forgot to mention Chuch Scarborough and Carol Jenkins!
Kalehoff's We're 4 New York and Frank Gari's One for All Campaign Promos are best in the land.
I learned my first English from this commercial hahaha
This was such a revitalizing time in New York and NBC
oh lord yeah i remember this... i still love it and I'M 4 NEW YORK
Wow, I like this version better. This is actually the close that WNBC used in the 90s.
I was born in 1994 when WNBC still used the We’re 4 New York slogan.
This makes me happy.
I was 5 in 1992, but I do remember this song......it really is catchy!
My favorite song makes me think about bishop Whitaker!!!!!
simply splendid..................very moving
lol, your right, i found out Michelle Marsh was at WCBS 2 during this time. so yea, that was Dawn Fratangelo
Man, that takes me back!
I remember this song being used in 1994 as well until September 1995 when WNBC changed it’s name from 4 New York to NBC 4.
I love this song! ^^
I know I'd heard it 2 years ago, but I wish they'd bring it back for good. ^^
Just one of the best videos on youtube!!! I Love NY.
I love this song but I can’t watch it without getting my eyes welling up!
that baby is a future New Yorker. even though this is from 1992 so that baby is a New Yorker!
LOVE THIS VIDEO AND SONG. RECORDED IT RIGHT FROM TV AT THE TIME....
I love it. So cheesy and yet so catchy.
🚨ch 4 def needs to throw this on the air whenever they got some extra mins to spare or even right before the 11pm news .. mann I used to luv Sue Simmons pretty eyes as a kid
Composed by Edd Kalehoff.
Ah the good ol days of New York. Still a pre internet world. New York just seemed...happier and more optimistic back then. Things were getting better
Bring this back and updated!
Rogers the musical brought me (back) here.
they did bring it back in early may of '07.
From 2:43 to 2:45, Jerry Seinfeld said: "I'm 4 New York."
🎵We're 4 New York!🎵

Awesome promo. I forgot about this

My and my family went to New York several times.
1:32 that little one is 27 now.

New York City was the best in that time abundance everywhere and party . 🎉 1992
As a transplant currently in California, this makes me so homesick.
I miss New York.
And I'm home. Good Morning New York!
I remember this aired during the Barcelona Summer Olympics.
Hi from NYC in 2019
Chuck and Al the only ones still at WNBC and NBC
yep, I was recording the Barcelona Summer Olympics and grabbed this on tape, still have it. Still looking for the ABC promo (We Belong Together) that ran during the 1986 Statue of Liberty 200th. I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of WNBC-TV's We're 4 New York Video Promo From Summer 1992.
I believe that June 1, 1992 was a Monday.

it is propaganda but it is nice i miss the 90s
*****
What I meant was that it was like in the spirit of the commercial when I first immigrated here.

Julie Gold was the lyricist and Curtis King is the other principal singer besides Andrea McArdle.
I want a copy of this song as I remember it was pressed on CD of course I never called the number to order a copy way back then!
Both did a fantastic job with this.
Those were the days.
Im not from New York but it has that quality that makes everybody love it. I however like the more upbeat version.

LEAPIN' LIZARDS!!! Sing it Andrea McArdle!!!!
good song ! :)
Classic NBC
My City ♥️
I can write some serious words to this song!!
Just saw the ‘93 version; nowhere as good as this
no, i mean this specific version of the song and video
Now THIS is a station ID,
ooo. ya that would be cool if they went back to this vesion.
I have always oiled this commercial for wabc-this
23rd March 2007
does anyone know where on here where the KSDK St Louis version is?...I remember seeing it on here a few years ago. It is the one the GM put together before heading to NY
THEME SONG IS COOL 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
WNBC is owned and operated by NBC.
We're 4 New York.
my dad's in this!! hahaha
I love the male choir at 2:16.
I had one of them toy planes
The best thing about this commercial is that Trump and his ego are NOT in it!
+J Williams I know. Would take up the entire screen.
He was too busy rebuilding the city after the Democrats destroyed the city in the 70's and 80's.
How can I get this song to download?
2:34 - my favorite part.
If the rumor of Channel 4 bringing this back is true, I'd love to see Alicia Keys and Billy Joel do the duet!!!
+Michael Gimson who is your source?
heckk they could make it a trio and add either queen latifa or Mary, if you know what i mean.
This is the same station that had anchor Sue Simmons slip out a certain word during a promo.
burbanktvboy, Can you please check the video, as it keeps stopping for no reason? Thanks.
That's before the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.
Where can i send a new version of this song?
I really wish I could download this song.
You can! Look for a website that is TH-cam to mp3. That works for me!
Well there was a limited pressing of the song released at the time, but you had to call to order it back then and I'm sure it's now a highly prized collector's item now if you're lucky to a copy now?

Should've had Jets fans in it.
wnbc should make an updated version of this for the 2012 summer olympics. (not the 2007 version....that obe is to fast paced. plus there are no nbc chimes at the end)
0:57 bro that’s a subliminal message
