Chuck Scarborough is to WNBC-TV NBC4 in New York as Jim Vance is to WRC-TV NBC 4 in Washington, DC. They are likely the two longest tenured news anchors with one station. Chuck is nearing 45 years at WNBC and Jim is nearing 48 years at WRC. They are legends.

So, between '47 and '54, WNBC-AM had different call letters than WNBT? Because the AM was WEAF until 1946 or 47 when it became WNBC the first time, but I always thought the TV and AM letters were the same after 1947.
The announcer in the 1978 "NewsCenter4" election night opens (and-I'm quite sure-the first open as well) was none other than the late "Voice of NBC News" himself, Howard Reig. There are also a couple of early-'70s "Eleventh Hour" news opens handled by him floating on TH-cam. I remember having read somewhere that the "News 4 New York" theme was indeed composed by Scott Schreer and not Jim McAllister, who was credited for performing it. The '90s "Live at Five" intro dates to 1993 or '94, as evidenced by the Danny Dark voiceover and the "We're 4 New York" theme. This resurrection of "Live at Five" didn't last long, as it soon reverted to a traditional 5:00 P.M. newscast while still retaining the name. And one more thing: R.I.P. Don Pardo. "Saturday Night Live" won't be the same without you.

I'm getting fixed my computer, so, sooner I would show how great would see a newscast logo for Ch. 4. -Reinstall the "We're 4 New York" campaign theme song, at least, as their closing theme. That way, they could have a original closing theme as their sister station WRC-TV in Washington, instead of a classic news graphic music package. And that's all. Please contribute. Thank you.

My favorite news intro from WNBC was the one from 1998 to 2003. It was simple and displayed the talents really well.
