  • How I cramp few hours worth of education into 18 mins, it's crazy but I hope you learn something amazing. It's my longest yet shortest video. My longest youtube video, but shortest education video.
    I'll teach you how I purchase shares cheaper than the current market value and how I beat most investors. With knowledge, you gain the unfair advantage.

    Ken, since April 2020, not only helped me increase my wealth through SQ and TSLA (this despite my close friend being a Elon hater and short seller), but you helped me understand investing to a greater extent. I'm much more active in investing overall, I've consolidated my portfolio, I understand my investments (instead of just taking stock tips), it's much more fun and I have a feeling of greater control. I appreciate you, your time and the knowledge you share. Thank you!

    Redirected here from your latest video! I like this strategy but it's hard to do this when tesla is $1500; this strategy will be more doable after the stock split though. While tesla was at $1500, I was selling way out of the money naked puts and getting free premium (usually sold strike 1000 or strike 1100). Basically i got paid $100 a day for free for many months.

    CG The alternative is buying the $600 LEAPs as suggested in this idea if as you suppose that the stock will get to that price and beyond.
    Indications are that this stock will more than tripple say by 2022 and this would be a cheaper approach since the $48,000 could be used to acquire a huge sum of shares.!

    Hi - great video. I have a question about this one. ---- Isn't the worst case scenario here too optimistic? The buyer will execute the stock option when it crashes, and then at least momentarily we would have a high loss? True that we could hold until the stock comes up again... Also, if the price would go above the agreed price then the buyer would not exercise to bbuy - we would just own the premium - correct?

    Thank you so much for sharing and yes i have been going through your videos and buying TSLA .. profit abit on my 10 TSLA stocks! I want to thank you for this!
    I am in a dilemma now if i should sell1 option contract as shared in this video or i should just get 100 shares of TSLA. I know this is an old video, not sure if you will see this comment... if this is your money, would you add 100 shares of TSLA or would you sell 1 option contract Sept 2021 2150 strike for $70,000 premium? I have been thinking on the pro and cons, for e.g. if stock price goes up to 5000 , then this contract will expire worthless and i get to pocket the premium (that's the max), but i don't get to hold the stock. What would you do if this is your money :)

      Correct. Selling the put has limited profit potential, while being long the stock has unlimited upside. If a stock rises very significantly, you'd be much better off owning it than selling the put. There are tradeoffs and there's no perfect position.

    Hey Ken, new follower and obviously smashed that like/subscribe/bell buttons, but question for you - I still don't understand the Worst Case Scenario. I'm trying to figure out why the math only sets the worst case scenario as only 395 loss (is this the premium you've paid)? What happened if the stock drops say from 480 to 200 the next year, what happens then? I figure there would be much worse consequences for buying this type of option and if not, why don't more people do this!?

  • @Maxvr9999
    @Maxvr9999 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    I know it sounds like a great strategy but wouldn't it be better to just buy and hold the stock if you think that it will increase significantly, anyways?
    Because with this strategy you need to hold onto alot of cash that you cannot invest. If you do so, that is risky. There could always be a crash and then you are forced to buy but you don't have the money. To get it then, you then need to sell way too many shares.
    I could see this work if you have a very stable income. Then you could use the money at the start to invest additionaly while you fill up the necessary money over time.
    On the other hand: Why not just invest all the money you have now or in tranches in the stock that you have a so good feeling about that you would be willing to take an option on it? On top of that you can dollar cost avarage additional money towards the stock. That way you can use more of your money, you have higher returns once the stock goes up and it is saver to just have stocks that noone can take from. Let anything happen to your broker, your bank or your currency or maybe the government decides to take a percentage of yourfortune, which politicians debate about in the EU. There could happen something to the money. Then having a responsability like this would be a pain.
    Also, if fundamentals change, you are still bound to the stock.
    Even more important than the risk factor is the reward facor. This gives you like 20% for holding cash when you could just invest into a share that you think will perform even better. Sure, you could do both if you think you are absolutely sure, but one can never be and then you would be risking way too much.
    It's the same reason why you don't leverage your stocks to increase your performance. Because, when a crisis comes, you will be among those that loose it all. Owning stocks is a much better long term startegy to get and stay rich.
    That is also why you generally shouldn't try market timing to get an even better performance than your stock.
    I needed to learn the last one the hard way. With the things above, you also try to get a better performance than the stock at the risk of getting a lower performance than the stock.
    If the company behind the stock is great and all the things that you need to look out for are fulfilled, then the performance that the stock gives to you should be enough for you to easily get rich over time. Rushing it more than that, decreases the expected value of your future fortune and therefore you will statistly have a lower fortune doing so.

      @luiscaminero9145 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. But this strategy could work great if your portfolio is over a million and your stocks pay dividends. You could use the dividends to sell puts in order to re-invest the dividends instead of a regular DRIP program.

  • @FelixTheCat69
    @FelixTheCat69 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Wow, this is perfect timing Ken. I am new to options and will have about $200K to manage conservatively. I was thinking of buying calls instead of selling puts, so this gives me something to think about. I also would be comfortable using half to just go long the stock, so again, your strategy may give me a way to achieve that as well. Let's say there was a pullback and I had cash to put to work; would that be a good time to sell a put on $TSLA when it is down? I know you can't give investment advice, but hypothetically, if a person had done their own research, blah blah blah. I appreciate your insights.

    Thanks Chicken Genius.
    This is a solid video. (I’m taking the long weekend to view all your videos from earliest, back to latest).
    One greenhorn enquiry needs your education and help.
    Thank You.
    Does it mean that
    The USD 48,000 (MUST be [ set aside/ reserve ] for the potential Real buying one year later?, if priced went below USD 480).
    In short, this USD 48,000 cannot be utilised to buy any shares during this timeframe?
    Thank you again 🙏🙏🙏

      I'm new to watching CG videos. This was made a year ago. And the example does state you put the $48000 aside in cash in case it is needed to buy the shares one year from the date of the option. I am big on Tesla. So I was looking at this example as one where you decide not to invest the $48000 in Tesla, but enter into the option and get $8500. This was my mind set, not the purpose of the video. A year from then, you see the Tesla price up and the option expires and you are now free to do something else with the $48000. You did make $8500 on letting your $48000 sit for a year. That is about 18%. Not bad at all. But.... and here is the downside to the example. If you see the example as an either or thing (like I did). Either I invest in Tesla OR invest in the option. The choice to invest in Tesla last year. You buy 100 shares at $480. In the following year, the stock splits 5:1. So you have 500 shares now. And the share price is about $850. That means you are holding $425,000 worth of Tesla. Your $48000 investment just made $377,000. BUT.. This was not the intent of the video. This video was made to inform about Options. This video shows you how you can make an easy 18% on your money because Tesla is a sure thing to go up over a year period.
