    brilliant video!! I've started doing the option wheel strategy as well after learning about it from your videos, it's not crazy gains but it's a great source of extra income even just at 1% return per week. I have yet to try out rolling options but does seem like it could be useful.
    Thanks for sharing your journey so all of us can learn together :)

    Thanks Kelvin for the google doc. Ive been trading for a while learning every different strategy. I have learned that often you lose money learning. Now that i have done pretty much all of the techniques i truely believe that Selling Options is just about the best one. The issue for those with small accounts is the low ROI. But it is still the most consistent and best for a slow growing portfolio. I never touch my long-term portfolio but I am thinking of selling options because I can leverage the larger amount to buy more shares. Its all ETF dividend paying.

    Hi Kelvin, how does margins actually work? How would I know how much margins will I have and what is considered as 'safe' or 'unsafe' margin? I do have some stocks and also options and sometimes when I already have a few options, I cannot buy more shares because some or the money is 'stuck' in the options. So how do I know what is considered safe margin?
    Able to do a video on margin?

    Thank you senpai. If you were to sell monthly options at the same strike as your weekly, chances of it getting ITM is not low as there is more time for stocks like TSLA to do so, ie 20% increase in a week unlikely but in a month not unlikely.
    Maybe stay consistent with the delta of 0.1 too for monthly? I believe it would be further OTM.

    • @KelvinLearnsInvesting

      Yea, it's buying back and selling a new call. The cons is if u closed at a loss, u won't earn from the new option because it's used to cover the loss. There's no option in ibkr desktop, but u can do it in ibkr app

    • @EugeneYeeXD

      Yea you can get assigned anytime by the buyer of the put. But usually only when the underlying goes below the strike. However, lets assume you're paid $0.50 in premium for the selling the put. This means your breakeven is $24.50. So, if you get assigned between $24.50 to $25.00 it is still good. If you prefer to roll then best is to execute the roll at least a few days before expiration. To share my experience, few months ago I sold a $42 NIO put and it fell to ~$38 due to China tech crackdown. I intended to roll only during the date of expiry and it was a mistake. I was assigned immediately when market opened. Hope this helps :)

      @@EugeneYeeXD thanks for the prompt reply. for some very strange reason my sell put isn't assigned eventho it's below the strike price, but looking at the example you've given i believe that the price is still not lower than the strike price minus the premium. I need to ask another Q. I've collected the premium initially for this at $0.74 and now it is going at $0.70. Assuming that I want to cover this put, I just need to go to this sell put and buy it back to close the position, right? and secondly, it means i made a mere $0.04 after i close this contract, right?

    • @EugeneYeeXD
      @EugeneYeeXD 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ericchow1218 For some brokers there is automatic assignment during the date of expiration if they underlying is below the strike. If have yet to reach expiration date, it's totally up to the buyer of the put to exercise or not. In my previous example when NIO fell to $38, I was still holding the contract (for a few days) without being assigned until the date of expiration. With regard to your question, yes you will make a profit of $0.04 but dont forget to include the fees into your calculation.

    Hey Kelvin, is there any reason to not be trading the wheel on Dividend stocks? and thereby capturing the dividend plus the earning from puts/calls.

    • @KelvinLearnsInvesting
      @KelvinLearnsInvesting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's definitely possible. But you have to take note of downsides of oversea dividend stocks
      - 30% withholding tax on dividends
      - much more stable, lower volatility, lower option premiums
      But otherwise, dividend stocks are good candidates

    Hi Kelvin, selling cash secured put n covered call is it considered short strangle

    • @justinlee9789
      @justinlee9789 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A covered call is equivalent to a short in the money put. So if you sell a covered call and naked otm put(cash secured put) you are essentially selling two naked puts. One is in the money and the other out of the money

    Have you ever consider selling a call and put option on a same stock over a same expiration date?
    E.g Stock A is currently priced at $100.
    Suppose I sell a put option of $105 that will expire in a week’s time, along will a call option of $95 that will expire in the same period.
    If by the end of the week, the stock price is at $102 (or $98), neither the put option buyer will not force us to sell our stock at $105, nor the call option buyer will force us to buy the stock at $95.
    I’m still in the process of learning options so there might be something which I’m missing out on. I just thought that this might be a little too good to be true.

    • @user-ln2th5nq1g
      @user-ln2th5nq1g 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the stock price is at 102, put option buyer will sell you at 105, hence you lose 3. Call option holder will buy at 95, hence you lose 7.
