    Gave you a thumbs up 20 seconds into the video, just for the fact that you came for the sardines. Good man.

      if you're not feasting in southern europe you're not doing it right! one of my favorite ways to sell bike touring to folks on the fence is telling them how hungry they will be for every meal and how they'll be able to finish everything on the plate.

    Thanks, was looking at heading up the N2 in June but this route is more interesting. Aiming for Evora, then across to Badajoz for a one-way car rental to ferry in Bilbao.

      sounds like a great trip. what i really liked about our route was how it linked really popular places with super local lesser known places. really gave a great sense of the place. enjoy.

    A nice video. Well filmed and a not overdone commentary. I lived in Montemor fo 30 years you chose a good route for getting to know the real Portugal. Well done!
    Btw, what camera were you using?

      thanks, appreciate the kind words. montemor, beja and alcoutim were probably my favorite 'hidden gems' so to speak of the trip. i filmed most of the footage on a gopro session and my pixel phone. a little bit of the footage is also from a canon m6 w/ the 55-200 ef-m lens or the samyang 12mm wide angle. it's amazing how well you can do with a smartphone nowadays, the image stabilization is about as good as an action camera.

    Am researching a bike trip in Portugal and this was a helpful, fun video to watch. Where do you get your good jazzy music for your videos by the way?

      thanks, i'm glad it was helpful. i often use youtube's music library or commercial music. this one in particular i found in the free music archive.

    Is the Eurovelo 1 route well signposted?

      @biking-places  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seemed to be. We only caught a few miles of it but I saw several of these signs before taking a picture.

    Hey there! Appreciate the video and learning about an inland route that goes from the south to Lisbon. Is there any chance your rides are on Strava or another tracking site/app? I'm looking to do a ride from Albufeira to Lisbon and this looks like a great alternative to following the coastal Eurovelo 1 the whole way which seems at times busy and crowded with resorts. If the rides not tracked, I'd love to learn more about your route. Obrigado, my friend!

      hey, glad this was helpful. we didn't use any public route but made it up as we went along using komoot. we largely followed the recommended route set to "bike touring" between the destinations. a few stretches were narrow with lots of cars but the majority were empty and highly enjoyable, especially further south. here are some highlights to hopefully help you with your planning: M1236 north from Tavira, M507 through Alcoutim, N258-1 through Cuba.

      Appreciate all this! Also curious how y'all chose to go inland instead of taking the coastal route. We're trying to decide between the two so curious to hear your thought process on that. Thanks!! @@biking-places

      @@andrewrosefinkelmanit was more about what areas we wanted to visit and how to tie them together. tavira and evora were high on the list and this was one of the better ways we found to tie them together along with some empty nice riding in the south of algarve. alcoutim and beja were definitely also highlights along with montemor-o-novo. nothing against the coastal route, you'll probably find some nice highlights along there as well.
