One Jew is Outsmarting Missionaries at Their Own Game: Rabbi Tovia Singer

  • Rabbi Tovia Singer is the founder and director of Outreach Judaism, a Jewish counter-missionary organization. It's an international organization that responds directly to the issues raised by missionaries and cults, by exploring Judaism in contradistinction to fundamentalist Christianity. Singer cautions regarding congregations that "are designed to appear Jewish, but are actually fundamentalist Christian churches, which use traditional Jewish symbols to lure the most vulnerable of our Jewish people into their ranks." Outreach Judaism was described by J. Gordon Melton in 2002 as an example of "the current state of Jewish counter-cult activity."
In this episode, Rabbi Singer explores where his passion comes from, why Jews for Jesus's mission is counterproductive and how the old testament is the truth.

He whose going forth is from the days of eternity will be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:1,2).
One who will be named "Immanuel", which means "God with us", will be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14).
He will give sight to the blind (Isaiah 35:5; Isaiah 42:7).
He will enter Jerusalem humble, riding on a donkey (Zechariah 9:9).
He will be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12,13).
He will be crucified (Psalm 22; Zechariah 12:10).
He will die as a guilt offering for the sins of the people (Isaiah 53) before the 2nd Temple is destroyed (Daniel 9:26).
He will rise from the dead (Psalm 16:10).
He will be called "Mighty God" (Isaiah 9:5,6).
He will establish the New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34) so people can know God by being born of the Spirit (Ezekiel 36:25-27).
He is now seated at the right hand of the Father (Psalm 110:1).
He is now a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek (Psalm 110:4).
He will be worshiped (Daniel 7:13,14; Ezekiel 1:26-28).
He will return to set up the Davidic Kingdom when the Jewish people are ready to welcome Him back (Zechariah 12:10-13:2).

However not every christian was like this reverend and nearly everyone tried to get him to convert. Thanks to him standing his ground I am Jewish today.

You need to realize, research, and accept, that NOWHERE did God ever mention the "Jesus" character to us, NOWHERE did He tell us that we need to be "saved", and NOWHERE did He tell us that He requires HUMAN BLOOD (a purely pagan ritual that God ABHORS!!) as atonement for our sins.
NO FURTHER SCRIPTURES were given to mankind by God AFTER Mt. Sinai, therefore, Christianity absolutely did NOT come from God!
PLEASE buy a Hebrew Bible (says "Stone Edition TANACH" on the cover), and Rabbi Tovia Singer's books, as well as Rabbi Stuart Federow's book "Judaism and Christianity: A Contrast", to help you understand why Christianity absolutely did NOT come from God.

This might be true, they might not actually wish he didn't exist.
But what they certainly would wish for most is that Rabbi Singer "sees the light" and "accepts Jesus" and joins their idolatrous cult.
Problem is this Rabbi is too smart for that.
The real problem is that Christianity only offers 2 options: conversion to it or facing eternal condemnation.
There is no middle ground, there is no space for any real rational dialogue or critical questioning.

In the absence of the Temple, the Rabbis are our spiritual teachers, since they (and ONLY THEY!!) have been studying the original Hebrew scriptures all the way back to Mt. One day, as I stepped off the train, a couple of people carrying crosses approached me, inviting me to join them in church. Me being jewish and looking Jewish, I respond, asking if they'd be interested in accompanying me to the mosque. It was quite amusing to see their surprised expressions!
In that moment, I couldn't help but draw a parallel between their persistent approach and that of phone scammers. It felt as if dealing with them required using their own tactics against them. Just like the other day when a scammer called me offering a great deal on an iPhone 14. I decided to have some fun and informed him that I already own an iPhone 20. Undeterred, he asked again, and once more, I confidently stated that I have an iPhone 20. He hung up, realizing that his scam wasn't going to work on me.

Epic indeed! As a giores since the late eighties, I must express my gratitude to R’ Singer for the work he does. During the early part of my journey to Torah I came to realize that Christianity was a philosophy that had shattered the Torah and taken the bits and grafted them on to various avodah zaras. This in turn fully destroyed the original pagan cults, which really did need to happen. The irony is that it only created another avodah zara.
Once one understands the utter wholeness of the Torah in actuality, it becomes inevitable that the only path forward for any person is either noahide or, if they really do have a hidden Jewish neshama, conversion…or perhaps revealed ‘reversion’ …big debate there, way over my pay grade. Anyway, a huge thank you for bringing Rabbi Singer to Inspiration for the Nation - his work really is one more step to genuinely bring Moshiach. ❤

Just a note, I was a devout Christian most of my life and never heard anyone talk about needing to convert Jews to bring Moshiach. It was our love for the Jewish people that we didn’t want them to go to hell. We were taught that winning souls to Jesus keeps people out of hell. Since then I’ve realized how great the lies were about hell, heaven, told to pray prayers about allegiance to the catholic faith tho we were not catholic, told the OLD testament was for the Jews of that era and was outdated, we had a new way, so many lies and ignorance. Just asking questions gets people excommunicated. Like why don’t we keep the real Sabbath? No more religion. Shema Israel, Adonai Elohenu, Adonai echad.

That's why Yahweh sent JesusChrist to set his people free from the sins the world had them in, like the Torah,
Yahweh said, He have not dwelt remained lived, in a house temple synagogue building or church, since I brought up Israel (from the house of bondage or slavery) unto this day, but have gone from tent to tent, 1 Chronicles 17:5.
That's what happens from being in Christianity, you don't learn nothing! I'm glad JesusChrist delivered me from building worships.

As a deeply practicing Christian this passage might be some good food for thought. Matthew 9:14-17. In the parable Jesus mentions an old garment and a new patch. Who called Abraham and who died for our sins but God himself. From the Christian perspective both Judaism and Christianity were instituted by God. And it is clear in the book of Revelation that the Jews will persist to the end, along with the Church. Therefore we can expect both Judaism and Christianity to persist and be hated by the rest of the world as the world hates God. If I were to extrapolate this principle of old cloth and new patch then Judaism was considered the old and Christianity the new. God's plan seems to be to bring them both to the end. At this time Christianity has existed the same length of time as Judaism had at the time of Jesus (just around 2k years). That means that Christianity is now also considered old. Perhaps now the two can mix, or at least work together. Perhaps that is why we have many Christians learning from Jews and even some Jews learning from Christians. As to the concept of the Jews becoming Christians, well I say exactly how they do so if they choose to is up to them to figure out. Jewish Christianity looked different than gentile Christianity even within the early Church. Another passage to think about is Matthew 13:52. Also consider how the early apostles were a breed set apart. Their function was very different than the average Christian. Keep in mind they were all Jews. I've just begun to study this so these are just thoughts to be pondered. I'd say to ponder the things found in Scripture that have a dichotomy to them. I believe there is much to be discovered concerning the relationship between Jews and Christians for the one who seeks to find it.

Sometimes it is difficult to discuss religion with Evangelical Protestant Christians because they make fun of my Jewish religion. They tell me Jesus is God, it doesn't matter what you eat, circumcision is of the heart, prayer must only be spontaneous and from the heart and my religion is all wrong because it is legalistic.
But with Islam it is very familiar: One God (no Trinity), halal, circumcision, salat, sharia.
