    Wow, everyone is on vacation or what? just a couple of comments on this video?

      Maybe everyone has enough meters in the house (and the car and in our pockets etc).

      Yeah, it seems many people are away. Even traffic on the highways is lighter. Last chance for fun before summer is over.

      dont know if anyone gives a damn but if you are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch all the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been watching with my brother for the last couple of weeks =)

    Looks well built and safer than more expensive tiny meters. Love it!

    i have this also. The NCV doesnt lid up here like you. Only when i am around a 220volt fase.

    I think the frequency measurement is meant to work on the current you are measuring. That's why you have the same on the voltage range.

    A very good and objective review! Well spotted weak and strong points. Although it is a well built meter hardware-vise, IMHO, it is a no-good meter because of not well thought of features. I wouldn't use it if they were giving them away for free. UNI-T has a wast range of equipment, most do the job as advertised but none of them are good instruments. I am very happy with my Aneng 8008 as a pocket meter, I think it is the best of this range.

    Interesting meter, I didn't see you touch on it but it looks like there might be a spark gap over by the fuse.

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes that is a spark-gap that I forgot to mention.

    I like that there are no vias through the contacts of the rotary switch.
    That is a nice improvement.

      yup, that's a positive thing.

    Would it be possible to fit new leads through that strain relief clamp?

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know but you might be able to 3d print a new strain relief if that's necessary.

    I want to see very good, fast response and precise multimeter review - relatively cheap.
    What actually we should look at when buying a meter?

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When buying a multimeter you should look at all the points I look at in my multimeter review videos. Unfortunately I don't think there is a good, fast, precise and relatively cheap multimeter.

  • @MrBrymstond
    @MrBrymstond 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm in need of a good multimeter that's accurate all around, but lower voltage is the most important I would love a Fluke, but I can't afford one so what do you suggest? AA batteries are optimal

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Aneng 8008/8009 is still a good choice.

    • @MrBrymstond
      @MrBrymstond 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a couple cheap meters, but the Velleman DYM850BL the continuity tester is the most sensitive and accurate I ever seen. If the 9v is drained any amount it sets on zero. I took it apart and there was flux and solder splattered on the disk for changing ranges, I cleaned that but the battery and accuracy is still off and like I said if the battery is anywhere below 9v it doesn't read correctly and if it gets to 8.97v I get zeros I thought it was the cables, but they work fine. thaks I'll get one, but I'm willing to spend $100USD

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tested meters in the $100 range, I have a lot of sub $50 meters and a few over $400.

    Do you think Uni-t are trying to up their game?

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, and I think every other meter they have that has some kind of UL or ETL certification will be just as good if not better.

    Thanks for another DMM review. You're building a nice library of them on your channel.
    The mechanical design, construction quality, and certification on this sub-compact(?) DMM seem great. Unfortunately, the brains that went in it are far from comparable. Until those UX bugs are fixed, I wouldn't buy it.
    One testing suggestion: When evaluating the potential battery life, it'd be beneficial to have the meter measuring a known reference value (e.g., voltage reference) as you drop the supply voltage. Record as the minimum supply voltage the point at which the error in that reference value exceeds the stated tolerance for the mode and range. Even if a lower supply voltage could keep the DMM alive, it's not of value because it can no longer provide correct readings.

    • @voltlog
      @voltlog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good point on testing the battery cut-off voltage with a real measurement, we need to know the point where the meter is still functional. Thanks!
