Ok this, in a nutshell is why YOU are my fashion guru. Here’s why. I’ve heard forever you should only wear what you love...I restructured my entire wardrobe based on this premise. I’ve also thought for years uniform dressing was a fabulous idea. (Vettacapsule is a great example). But for whatever reason, it wasn’t till seeing you in the same basic outfit talking about suit guy that it really sunk in...really made sense. I have a closet full of things I really love, but have never used those clothes to make a real uniform - a signature look if you will - that is ME. I just have all these willy nilly pieces I love. Now I see they are pretty much useless unless I structure a real cohesive LOOK around them....and it’s ok - in fact great - if that look is based off the same silhouette each time. Unless the pieces are put together in a look (brand) that is me, they are just pieces. It’s so weird I didn’t get that because I decorate my home that way all the time, I just never equated that same lesson to dressing. This video made me see it! And this is why you are a fabulous fashion guru.🙂🥰🤯
Yay Sharon!! I love it!!! That is so great. I'm so glad this video gave you ah-ha moment. It's definitely helped me so much have the personal uniform, in embracing my style aesthetic. Wearing the silhouettes that make you feel the best will definitely be a ripple effect into further confidence in your style. Thanks for the awesome comment!
I have been told that my "look" is boring but after watching this I no longer feel bad about it because every time I wear my "uniform" I realized that I feel good and comfortable. My go-to look are loafers or Chelsea Boots and a crisp long sleeve button down and sometimes a blazer. Love your style and channel, I'm sad that I just found you recently; but trying to catch up with all your videos :)
Levi's, blazer, tank or T, with whatever shoes I'm feeling. I like the blazer to be somewhat tailored because it makes me feel powerful. I like a bit of height for the same reason but usually go with my Converse. I might wear a fedora, I might wear aviators. But that's pretty much it. I feel like I'm missing something (like a more personalized take), but that's why I'm binge watching your channel now I've discovered it, lol! I love, love, love your style by the way. From the clothes, the makeup, to the pixie cut. Chef's kiss!
My uniform is changing because I'm retired. My uniform was always a blazer, sweater tank, and pattern skirt, and later all black sweater tank and black pants and bright blazer, purse, and statement jewelry. I gave away all my clothes because I lost weight and still bought blazers and black pants. I've been watching a lot of TH-cam channels and have not really been excited to see casual clothes even though I have a casual life. I haven't considered any of that a style. So boring. You are different. Lots of pizazz and style with casual clothes. I love it.
Congrats on retirement! And I'm excited for you to be on a new journey of style. Let me know if you have any questions along the way. Thank you for sharing with us Lauren!
Love this!! Always felt like I have 2 personalities when it comes to style! I have my work clothes, which are a bit more basic and trendy, and my life clothes. They usually contain cowboy boots or moccasins, and something vintage!!
Yea that's great. I feel like a lot of people have a similar split or a version. I definitely do a bit. I've always loved your vintage vibe. I still remember your green wool coat that you found while thrifting. :-)
My uniform is straight leg pants and a statement top, usually an intricate pattern. I make this versatile by having four main colors. The print tops have some of these colors so they go with the pants. I have a plain top in each of these colors but seldom wear them. My clothes work for me even if I don’t wear what is usual for this time. I have been enjoying your videos. I like that you encourage us to wear our own style confidently. This makes fashion fun.💕
hi Emily! My uniform look is a fitted cardigan or blazer, with jeans and a cool pair of sneakers!! Because of you, I now have a closet full of clothes that I love. Thank you for all you do here!
My uniform is wild patterned leggings and a basic top or.a concert tee and flared pants denim jacket or motto jacket either ankle booties or tennis shoes! By the way I'm new to your channel and I think your so cool and enformative and amazing!
Great video! Anything tailored and neutral is my uniform and I finally love everything in my wardrobe which I’m slowly building to incorporate a color I don’t own. The icing on the cake to my outfits are always a nice bag and shoes to elevate my simple looks.
Very interesting! As all your videos are! I admire your fashion sense and the easy effortless way you show us how to obtain it. For me personally I’m more of a very eclectic gypsy... you’ll probably think my clothes are insane and that’s because I love to dress for my mood and it’s very changeable . I’ve made peace with myself though and learned what and how things are working for my style at the moment. Every time I tried to tame myself I could only do it for a short while and reverted back to ethnic-gypsy-boho-trendy. So I just accepted myself. But I do love your style and I have pieces that I love when that mood strikes. I love dresses for example and ultra feminine look but I also love the genderless look. You are awesome and your channel is great! 👍❤️
Also if you don’t mind me asking... what sign are you? Do you know your Sun, Moon and ascendent? I have so much in Sagittarius and it makes me very adventurous and colorful.
That's great Lena! As long as you love your style that is all that matters. I don't ever want people to think my style is the only style. Unfortunately I'm all that I have for examples. So I am so happy you are still able to translate what I say in my episodes into your own beautiful style. That's what this channel is all about loving and styling what YOU LOVE and not what anyone else says you should be wearing. Happy you're enjoying the channel and thank you for your comments and interaction!
Simple but cute. I wear joggers , tshirts and sneakers...but thanks to your videos I decluttered.😊 I switch up with my outerwear. Handbags, teddy coat, vegan leather or sweater. With cute hat or silk scarf to hide my gray hair
Love that! Such a good base of an outfit, timeless. And then you come in and add your spice with layers and accessories! And don't hide that gray hair! :-)
I have a few looks in my personal uniform. 1. Cotton maxi wrap skirts with a tshirt 2. Maxi wrap dresses 3. Cotton Mini dress 4. Mustard yellow jumpsuits On the off chance that I wear pants I wear brown high waisted pants and a tshirt All with a chunky cardigan My style is very hippie/ bohemian

Yeah, my uniform is a blazer, skinny jeans (or straight) and a tshirt or thin sweater. Infinite ways to style the look. Looks professional, super comfortable, and stylish. Also gets peoples' attention. Stylish engineer = oxymoron? :-)
Hey there! Love your stuff!!!!! Would you mind listing your shoes, please? I kinda have a shoe thing going on right now. Watched your video review of the shoes from The Office of Angela Scott and fell in love. They are on my wish list. I also fell in love with the boots from Daniella Shevel but exercising great control because I know they really don’t fit my lifestyle (sad) . They do almost make me want to get a new lifestyle. 😆
Of course! MADEWELL Boardwalk lace up sandal, TRETORN Hockeyboot Hi Top Sneaker, MELISSA Beach 3DB Rain Slides, VAGABOND Tara Boot, OFFICE OF ANGELA SCOTT Mr. Dean Boot, VAGABOND Lug Mules. I completely understand, I am absolutely shoe obsessed too. That is where my minimalism approach disappears a bit :-) I looooove the Daniella Shevel Belladonna boot but yea, they don't always fit my lifestyle either....but I know they'll have their moment soon. Thanks for your comment!!
I bought a pair of Office of Angela Scott oxfords and I adore them. They make me feel like a total bad-a$$. Sadly, my bunions don't love them and I feel like I need to get them stretched but I'm afraid to.
TheHelpfulPlate ohhhh! Bunions are bad! Sorry about that. To be honest, I was looking at pre- loved Chanel flats or Gucci loafers because given a choice , sustainability is my preference. That being said, I think The Office of Angela Scott wins! In a week or two, they will get one more going over and if they still make my heart sing ..... they go from wish list to feet. Nothing like beautiful comfy shoes to make a girl feel good. And YEA! For not impulse buying!!!!!!! I am a work in progress.
@@YarnsByHPF Sounds like a good system. Yea pre loved is a great way to go. The good the about OOAS shoes is that they can be re-soled and reconstructed if needed. Let us know if you decide to them!
Emily Wheatley I did order and just received a pair of OOAS very beautiful, exquisite, gorgeous shoes. They are a perfect fit. What sold me you ask? The fact , which you pointed out, that they can be resoled and will probably last me the rest of my life. I can’t find any info on some of the luxury brands being resoled. I absolutely do not mind saving and investing in shoes / clothing but want it to last and be maintainable. I am really looking into other brands with the same construction for future purchase. If you have any suggestions, please share.
Emily it’s so hard to shop online so your videos are a great reference. I’m thinking of getting some tees from Mott and Bow but I’m wondering if I should consider shrinkage when purchasing ? I’m probably a small but sometimes my stuff gets washed with the kids and comes out of the dryer a size smaller. But maybe with higher quality brands this might not happen? Thoughts?
I'm so glad the videos are helpful. I've washed mine a couple times and haven't had any shrinking. But I wash mine on cold and delicate dry or air dry. So I think you should be ok. You'll love how soft they are. :-)
