The strength and wisdom is something I’ve never seen in my time of working in the bush . Shit loads of wrecked cars and houses , shops with bared up windows and drunks , kids on the streets after midnight. What a load of crap.

That's a weird explanation of walk about. People just decide to walk about, look around, can be for a week or for a year, can be alone or with others. Becoming a man is a different story. Knowing the song lines can take you to other places as well as explain many other things.

❤ I fully agree!, it was about learning, gaining knowledge about their land & wat the different parts offered depending on the time of year, they then learnt about themselves at th same time through experience , hardship & appreciation for their land & it's offerings including medicines & how to care for it all, that care was th maintenance of th bush also, the clearing plains for designated hunting grounds, th building of fish- -traps, doing cold burns seasonally so bush fires wer kept under control, Iv Massive Respect for them & despite my being from a bloodline of Convicts who wer sent here by the English/Invaders i hold shame about their mistreatment.
The knowledge of these people that has been lost is a tragedy , & should be a point of shame for the settling military.

You missed a brutal step for a young aboriginal man coming of age, one of their front teeth would be knocked out, this let other tribes know he was considered an adult by his mob ( mob-meaning is relatives & other tribe members), I'm told this was still practiced up until the end of the 19th century & longer in the more remote mobs from th north-west known as the Kimberies right across th top of Australia to Arnem land, not sure about th north eastern corner known as the cape bcos these people wer known as Torres Staight Islanders. One thing I do know & that is that it's their land, Always was & Always will be.❤😊

Walkabout is a Whiteman saying stations bosses and my opinion about your story associateding walkabout and Initiation is not a true fact. Guess you could say I probably been in some of the last initiation up out home I know about what behind initiations the process And all about the so called Walkabout And Aborigines and aboriginals didn't definitely have the same tradition or culture.. But I would never give up what knowledge I hold. So that other aborigines people can't claim that knowledge as part of their story just like cultural burnbacks isn't part of their culture eather.. just saying and they never venture far from where they lived but that is a different story but your story isn't correct ??

Unfortunately due to colonization alot of Aboriginal culture was lost & many tribes have lost their languages and traditional cultures...& for our young men 2 go through initiation it's sometimes not a option as their culture has been lost... there are many Aboriginal tribes up North & central Australia that still practice traditional lore and their young boiz are required to go through lore or walkabout.. for these tribes it's a honour to see as I'm an Aboriginal woman from Perth Western Australia and my people are the Noongah people of the South West of Western Australia and our culture and language has been lost however we're trying to revive it..2 imply that "most Aborigines these days go to pubs & fast food restaurants" is extremely racist & insulting to my people...it's sad that they're many Aussies out there that don't see the beautiful side of my people & how we survived on this continent for 65000 yrs or maybe longer which included a Ice Age...it takes knowledge & intelligence 2 be able to survive for as long as my people did... the oldest living culture on Earth...❤❤ Proud of my people & how we maintained the land & took care of it...if only white man could see the better side of Aboriginal people not the bad... bcoz their is good & bad in every culture

@@rosiekickett2617 My Culture existed in Britain Long Before the Last Ice Age and endured it too using our Intelligence and Knowledge. Then we started developing more advanced technology to adapt to the changing climate. Our Culture did not remain a Stoneage Culture like yours but had this Spark of Intelligence and Thirst for Knowledge to Improve our circumstance. And So in Time Through Trial and Error and for Good or Bad we Became the Civilisation we did. But in the 60000 years your Culture supposed to have lived in Australia your Kind Remained a Stoneage Culture. We were like you 60000 years ago. But we evolved and developed new technology. You never did. Your Culture never had that Spark to seek out new things. Yes I am sorry for the way some of my Ancestors Treated your People, that should never of happened. But unfortunately Humankind is made up of Good and Evil Individuals. It's just the way we are. Hunter Killers Deep Down. And Yes we may have lost some our contact with nature which is a shame and now some of our techology and attitudes are destroying this beautiful planet which is digusting and hopefully our techology and intelligence will change this situation. Your People View us as Invaders of you Country and Genocidal Maniacs of your People. But what your people fail to understand is that Humanity have always migrated to new places throughout history. So even though you may have arrived here first, it was inevitable that other people's would eventually arrive in Australia. We are the Second Arrival. The Second Nations.

@@iamgod6464 yeah I don't have a doubt that ur culture had technology, & I didn't know the British were there for 60000 yrs, according 2 ur scientists Aboriginal people were probably the first people 2 have left Africa & u also failed 2 mention how the British stole gold, diamonds & other minerals from the many nations they colonized...& just look at where ur technology and advancement is now getting us... Climate change & everyday destruction of our planet, nuclear weapons designed for mass killings & I could go on & on about technology and advancement of UR CULTURE... mankind is now even trying to fly into outta space in hope of finding anutha planet 2 destroy...& if u knew anything about Aboriginal culture then u would know that British people weren't the 2nd people 2 come ere.... there's proof of Dutch arrivals & Ancient Egyptians trading with Aborigines & we also traded with people from the Indonesian islands....I would rather live in the bush the way my people did traditionally for thousands of years & I'd be extremely happy...

"Supernatural beings that created the world". How far from reality and science do you want to go… Going down this nonsensible path, there is no coming back. You are lost in a fantasy that only has one explanation. You wish to entertain. Aboriginal culture and mysticism is one such fantasy. It's a Stone Age culture that is advanced by Land Councils that promotes indigenous cultural lifestyles, while the board members of land councils live in luxury western cultural suburbs. Celebrating the cultural heritage of ancient lifestyle is preventing people from living in the modern world. Only those living with the benefits of a modern world promote the cultural values of a primitive existence, those that experience the poverty and health consequences want to advance into the modern education and health systems. Stop talking indigenous people down, praising their Stone Age skills and promote education and achievement.
