Had a P-80 for many years, and recently replaced it with a P-225. I love the idea that Yamaha are a proper old school instrument maker, and all of their instruments are highly regarded. And if you're a biker, they do them too...
Of these, I think I would much prefer the Yamaha. Changing sounds is much easier on that, the weight of the keys feels more even, and it’s not a fingerprint magnet.
Yeah but the sounds are shit. Roland has great piano sounds, but once you get to strings, brass, electric guitar and bass, etc., you just wasted a bunch of money, imo. Casio has much better sounds. So, if you want piano sounds, get a Roland fp-10 or 30, if you want the whole package… you either pay, and get a Casio or other higher end synth, or you get a midi controller and get the sounds from a pc/laptop.
Roland fp 30x or yamaha p225 for live use? In a small group of musicians? (keyboard player, guitar, drums, bass, voices?) which would cut better through the mix and be heard better? 🤔
Wish you had the Casio PX-S3100 Bundle With CS68P Wooden Stand bundle on offer! Bonners had it for £662, but they're out of stock. I bought my PX-S1000 & stand from you a couple of years ago and looking to upgrade 😊
I'm impressed at how Casio has improved the piano sound. I wonder if the hammer action did improve too. Cause Roland is pretty much unbeatable in that respect. In terms of sound Casio wins here
I liked the FP 30x the most for the Piano sound and I love the rhodes sound on it. The FP 30x also has some different organs sounds I like more. The Yamaha had a slight fake strings sound.
Hallo Andertons, thank you for this comparison of these 3 digital pianos. About my opinion, whether Yamaha with this last p225 has made many steps upwards than prwvious p125, Roland p30x is at 1 place for its features as acoustic piano voices more realistic, a wonderful 11 watt x 2 internal highspeakers and an astonishing quality of keyboard with escapement, triple sensor for each key and these (black and White)are Ivory feel and not plastic like others. Besides pushing the keys when the piano is off there aren't noises, like p225, indeed. In this last keyboard is much more quality now, Ghc!!!!! I find not useful the rhythm pattern in P225. Why don't utilise the same internal memory to add other acoustic piano voices or Electric ones or others? The 3 main acoustic piano voices are a few, against the 12 of only acoustic piano samples of Roland fp30x and 54 at all of this last against 24. What a great difference!! Many greetings.✋✋👏👏👏
I’m actually looking at these (Roland and Casio) as my two possible keyboard to choose between soon. The only keyboard my local music stores stock are Yamaha (specifically the P225) and I had to return one because it had some click/tick/plastic on plastic noise on the black keys, which I was told by the store and Yamaha was normal in the action, but it thew me off when playing, a lot. Anyone know of any issues when it comes to things like that with either of these boards?
@@ELARRUGADO-sq7pk It's not possible to export the internal recordings of the Yamaha P225 digital piano to MIDI. The recordings remain in the internal memory of the piano and cannot be transferred to another device. Just to be clear, I'm referring to the internal recording function of the P225, not using the piano as a MIDI controller. I hope this clears up any confusion.
Thanks for the video! I'd like to ask an advise; I basically only play classical music. I had a "real piano" until I moved and now I can only buy an electric piano, but don't have any experience with it. Which type would you recommend? One of these two? Casio (in this case which type?) Another one? I can't spend a huge amount of money, so I need something that costs more or less like these two! And I need something that feels similar to the acoustic piano and that is suitable for classical music. Thanks! 🎹
Ciao Alessandra! 😄 If you want a piano that sounds and feels closer to the acoustic, then you should go with the FP30X. I have the older version, (the Fp30) and I'm very much satisfied. The keyboard feels absolutely right and i've had friends playing the Mefisto waltzes in it without an issue. That's your best choice in this price if you ask me. There are also some good kawai alternatives, but I never could like the Kawai sounds. If you want the top of the top for some €4000, then you can get the Nord Grand. haha. Enjoy! :) ,
Hi, I have a technical question. I was given (for free and that's a fair price) old Roland keyboard. What type of cables should I use? normal guitar type or trs?
Great video....wondering which of these have the best wurlitzer e piano sound? I know they all have good to great g piano sounds....most have a Rhodes...but, I need one with a great wurli tone as well....which has that? Thx
In person the yamaha sounds fantastic. I compared it to the roland and the Casio and something about it stood out. A lot of folks tend to like the roland the best though. It's all personal but the yamaha sounds really good.
Yes I agree, but only if my choice is between the models mentioned. I own a higher end model (Kawai ES920), I really like it, more expensive though.@@yuuji8447
@@Lukas-ee5oyYes, it was actually going to be the piano I bought, but after feeling the action and contrasting it with real acoustics, I found it to be a little bit too springy. If you have not already, I HIGHLY recommend trying it yourself. It all comes to how much you enjoy the feel, and if you're trying to play acoustic, how close it is to whatever acoustics you like. As for myself, I have gone down in price and bought a cheaper dp, as the Kawai es120 was in a limbo for me, just not cheap enough for me to afford not completely loving it. If you get what I mean. Again, feel it yourself, what we want in a digital piano action can be different and our price range also differs. good luck
Casio is really better then others.it seems like much more modern than Yamaha and roland.the pianos sounds like much more realistic and really natural.there isn't comparison starting for the amount of sounds and resources.roland and Yamaha are expensives but it doesn't deliver the brand new technologies of Casio.
The Roland PH4 action. If you look for it you will find it. Once you do find it, it makes the other pianos a little unfun to play. Really noticeable if you play at the tops of the keys. Really get nuanced with respect to dynamic range of how hard you want to hit the key and how responsive it is. There is no volume slider on the Roland Fp 30x, and that sucks. I played the fp 60x, and it is superior to everything mentioned here and much better acoustic sense. I have bought an fp-e50, oddly I haven't played it yet. Should arrive tomorrow. It has a tuned box like the fp 60x, less power and the speakers face down. The Roland cloud is easy enough to use after a small learning cure. Got about a thousand sounds on it appx. About 20 to 50 at 2.99 to 20.00 a pop. Always wanting next years model... Looking forward to what the future brings an a little buyers remorse...
hm... i can't decide, witch one is winning, but i definetly know, whois loosing. Casio - 3rd place ;D i amowner of 30x, but i very like sounds of 225. and yeah, right know i looking opportunity to change my 30x to e50.
I have the fp30x which has such a natural piano sound and the touch feels like a real upright piano
same here.. plus where i'm from, the yamaha and casio both cost more as well.
Had a P-80 for many years, and recently replaced it with a P-225. I love the idea that Yamaha are a proper old school instrument maker, and all of their instruments are highly regarded.

The Casio seems richer and more alive…. I think it won every round in this head to head comparison.
The fp30x, i have it. Def sounds like a real piano, you have to hear the sound yourself to judge but i would say it is very close to a real piano
ok, just talking about the sounds heard here.
Piano: Casio
E.Piano: Casio
Strings: Roland
Organ: Yamaha
Wildcard: Roland
Of these, I think I would much prefer the Yamaha. Changing sounds is much easier on that, the weight of the keys feels more even, and it’s not a fingerprint magnet.
I am so surprised by the Casio! Yamaha piano sounds the same as it has on my old PSR keyboard, is it PCM?!
I would go for the Roland FP-E50. So much more value and functions for not that much more money.
I got the e50. You get over 1000 built in sounds, plus an arranger and mic fx.

very cool E. Piano sound in the Casio PX S3100

I prefer the Casio grand, E.Piano and strings. I liked the Yamaha organ with chorus. The Roland was meh overall, but I like that vocal preset.

casio ? no way. i should be either yamaha or roland. and roland has close to piano action due to its escapment action with triple sensor

nice video as always! Since the P225 allows for internal track recording, are you able to record in midi and export that file to a computer?

Wow, Casio doesn’t play around! Nice comparison…. But now I’m torn between the P-225 & PS-X3100 😢
Great video, maybe its missing de kawai es 120. greetings from colombia South america
I thought the same. I'm undecided as which I should go with. Will go try them in store in a few days.
We all remember Remi. Ha.
How is the S3100 compared to the S5000?
PX-S3100 has more features but the PX-S5000 has an improved action with a wood keyboard.
I'm a Yamaha fan but these sounds are so bland. The Casio was so luscious.
In person the yamaha sounds fantastic. I compared it to the roland and the Casio and something about it stood out. A lot of folks tend to like the roland the best though. It's all personal but the yamaha sounds really good.
The Casio sounds so bright and fun. The E piano has so much stank to it compared to the Yamaha. Even the organ elevator music sounds fun
I'll take the Kawai ES120, thank you very much :)
