According to research Dr Rhonda Patrick here on TH-cam has reviewed, it's at the 18-hour mark of fasting that releases a large amount of human growth hormone. It does diminish after a day but it does some funky up and down stuff. But definitely the 18-hour Mark is a huge hit apparently
@joeskwara5823 I believe so. But I know there are diminishing returns somewhere in or right after that window but you can refer to Dr Rhonda Patrick podcast and she sets links to the studies if you want to read it yourself for the specifics. I fast most days for 19hrs and once a week 40hrs. Buy my last blood work shows, an insuline resistance sore of 80, and all of my lipids are high and off, including the small particles and lipoB. I really don't know what is causing this metabolism shift? Genetic? In the meantime, I m going back on meds.
Curious how they measured the GH. The error bars are huge and it is known that GH is secreted in a pulsatile fashion. So there are no steady-state levels.
I think the error bars in these diagrams dont really tell u much. They would be interesting if they had published the control group that didnt fast, but there is only male, female and low baseline gh and high baseline gh. Also its quite normal to have a very wide range of GH in different people and circumstances, but these outliers of data points might drive up the statistical error chance.
Sounds like it's a compensation mechanism, starve yourself & the body goes into a mode that saves the muscle mass by counterbalancing it with growth hormone
Increased HGH ameliorates Muscle-loss from …not eating. HGH is Anabolic; Starving is Catabolic. Increased HGH is a band aid for inconsistent nutrient intake; not a muscle-building Hack.
Sure Gh spikes super high during fasting roughly after 16 hrs or so, but IGF-1 is going to be lower , T possibly will be lower, you cant really Grow new tissue during this time since no food to rebuild. Its good if u need a Boost to Gh to keep on track or whatever you need a boost for

Before the sauna, I'm doing 5-6 sprint intervals. My goal is to make a peak of HGH and that is my idea of how to do that. This Routine I started 3 weeks ago and looks promising. Can I ask for an opinion?
I would recommend a 24h dry fast with physical activity and hot/cold therapy from time to time. I have 6-8% BF year around while not eating 'clean'. (I like steak and alcohol) Intense exercise is as important as fasting. But people don't know what that means.
1500% ? why not 2000% ? how much actual healthy GH activity going on long term? I'm fasted for 23h right now I don't like leading with empty numbers and buzzwords
Why is this surprising? STRESS and hypoglycemia are the main triggers of growth hormone secretion. I guess my question is, why do you think a 1500% increase in growth hormone is a good thing? What are some of the negative consequences of elevated GH? You might want to review. You’re also misrepresenting the data, and you know this (I hope), but are trying to make a more sensationalist video.

On a scale of Chemically enhanced Processed food to Fasting I'm sure Chemically enhanced Processed food takes the win 1000 to 1
Love this!!!
That would explain why I gained so much muscle, and burned fat when I IF for a year, plus working outside
Where's the link to the study? Couldn't find it in the show notes
There is no link. He lied his balls off.
"Sex-specific boxplots showing the relative increase in HGH during fasting in categories defined by sex-specific thresholds of baseline HGH (p0.15 ng/mL for females and >0.05 ng/mL for males). Females (n=8) had a median HGH change of 720% (IQR: 475% to 5,202%, mean: 2,934% ±4,514%) in the lower baseline HGH category, while in the higher baseline HGH category females (n=12) had a median HGH change of 38.1% (IQR: −49.8% to 240%, mean: 91% ±162%). For males (p=0.09), the HGH change was a median of 3,425% (IQR: 300% to 5,740%, mean: 5,069% ±6,931%) in the lower baseline HGH category (n=7), while in the higher baseline HGH category males (n=3) had median HGH change of 73.0% (IQR 23.2% to 2,545%, mean: 880% ±1,442%). In each boxplot, the bold line inside a box is the median, the upper and lower limits of the box are its 25th and 75th percentiles, the whiskers above and below are 1.5 times the height of the box, open circles are outliers >1.5 times the height of the box, and asterisks are outliers >3.0 times the height of the box."

Fasting before going to the sauna insanely increases natural growth hormones.
Is this why japanese take hot baths in the morning?! 😮
Good tip to not eat crap; when you are shopping don't put them in your shopping cart, done, easy.
Is it okay to go for a long term if I'm okay with 24 hour fasting with one meal a day?
I'm doing it for 3years and had no problems but I don't know for long term like 10years or so.
Very curious about it.
check your blood work it will tell you all you need to know
Or indeed...45%. Which was the actual result, excluding a single weird outlier.
Very weird outlier, that dude likes feet. 😂

So 18-24 is the magic window?
@joeskwara5823 I believe so. But I know there are diminishing returns somewhere in or right after that window but you can refer to Dr Rhonda Patrick podcast and she sets links to the studies if you want to read it yourself for the specifics. Her channel name is foundmyfitness, type in human growth hormone and it should come up
glucagon should be renamed outsulout
I fast most days for 19hrs and once a week 40hrs. Buy my last blood work shows, an insuline resistance sore of 80, and all of my lipids are high and off, including the small particles and lipoB. I really don't know what is causing this metabolism shift? Genetic? In the meantime, I m going back on meds.
I might reintroduce metabolic monday to my hormones.
Yaaasssss! ❤❤
Thanks for sharing this
Thomas Delauer and HIH back to fasting being good. Attia took us off track for a while and now we’re back?
Sounds like it's a compensation mechanism, starve yourself & the body goes into a mode that saves the muscle mass by counterbalancing it with growth hormone
Fasting for 24h shouldn't even be called fasting... It should be called "eating once every day". I've done that for years.
Did the study measure sex hormones and/or thyroid hormone changes from fasting?
But muscle building maintenance is hard when you go 2 days each week with no food.
What about the side effects of berberine?
You are useful mann q❤
Why does berberine make we throw up about an hour after I take it? I e tried it three times and every time I have thrown up shortly after taking it
What about the risk of muscle atrophy due to fasting? How do I mitigate the risk?
Keep working out during the fast, eat more protein the day before and after the fast through the week to support your muscle gains.
I just completed a 20 day fast. My head is now double the size 😂😂
What about a daily 16/8 or 18/6 for a fit person??
So, is this a bad idea for people who are prone to cancer?
Whats your take on protien sparing fast or fasting mimicking diets? I do whey protien diet below 500 calorie once or twice a week .
Increased HGH ameliorates Muscle-loss from …not eating.
HGH is Anabolic; Starving is Catabolic.
Increased HGH is a band aid for inconsistent nutrient intake; not a muscle-building Hack.
Lets say I like to lift weights fasted. Would taking some EAAs prior to lifting potentially inhibit the growth hormone release?
the best fast is skipping a entire day of eating. and then the next day just eat normally
also look into donating blood around 3 or 4 times a year.
What were they eating?
Sure Gh spikes super high during fasting roughly after 16 hrs or so, but IGF-1 is going to be lower , T possibly will be lower, you cant really Grow new tissue during this time since no food to rebuild. Its good if u need a Boost to Gh to keep on track or whatever you need a boost for
T is boosted Im pretty sure. Been doing OMAD for about 6yrs now. Im a trainer and avid gym rat. 49 next month and my T is much higher than it needs to be (700's) check about 2-3x/yr.
I've been supplementing berberine daily, amongst other supplements, for anti-fungak since ive had toe nail fungus for 7 years now. I've noticed that ive ebeen eating alot less than usual, is that a normal symptom ?
All the meat getting you fungal infections sad 😢😂
Hi, I'm nearly 50 yo💪
I started to practise in the sauna once per week 2x 30min after at least 24 hours of fasting. ( once per week I fast for 36+ hours ). Before the sauna, I'm doing 5-6 sprint intervals. My goal is to make a peak of HGH and that is my idea of how to do that. This Routine I started 3 weeks ago and looks promising. Can I ask for an opinion?
Can i alternate Fasting Days and on non fasting Days take mk-677? So my gh stays high all week
Hey Mike. What gets easier to pick up the more it weighs ? A woman.
If you are born with out any HGH and took HGH shots as a child will fasting do anything ????
The guy that said I’m done fasting 🤣
So we are fasting again?
Results male vs female?
This conforms with my experience
If you don't know your blood work you won't get anything out of this
Ghrp’s also help increase growth hormone.
Reminds me of that mindy pelz pr whatever her name is. Uses the highest possible number
My meds are slowing me down big time but have got 12 housr.
zinc and copper for that grey hair in your beard :) :)
Was this study conducted with men AND women or just men?
All people trying to build muscle know that growth hormone increases when you sleep that’s why sleep is so important. I guess fasting too, huh?
How to boost IGF-1?
So one meal a day???
No, that will drop your leptin and cause more issues
I would recommend a 24h dry fast with physical activity and hot/cold therapy from time to time.
I have 6-8% BF year around while not eating 'clean'. (I like steak and alcohol)
Intense exercise is as important as fasting. But people don't know what that means.
Was very interested until “fasting”
or you could just eat a ton of carbs and inject hgh right after
Increasing growth hormone signalling = decreasing lifespan and healthspan.
If this was at all true, I'd look like Joe Rogan by now.
I wish fasting cures mental issues
it helps a lot
1500% ? why not 2000% ? how much actual healthy GH activity going on long term?
I'm fasted for 23h right now
I don't like leading with empty numbers and buzzwords
If its true why arent competive athletes doing it.
Should teens do this to grow taller 😂?
What is that necklace thing? You and Ben Azadi have it. Thanks!
ty
Fasting is dangerous for anyone with hypoglycemia.
Fasting Kills
Not sure fasting will increase GH by that much. Good title bad content.
Ya, but if you're already underweight, It doesn't help.
Not new
Can it hasten tumors
No fasting deprives cancer cells from its nutrition and so it helps against cancer.
