I just wonder how much their employees get paid. If you pay 10,000 Euros, and the employees get paid 100 Euros, you will be getting 100 Euro service.

Have you tried cleaning a room at the speed they do every day? This is very skilled work. And the risk they take every day is the same as any hard Labor: you ruin your body, you literally put your quality of life at stake. And you are under stress because your "boss" who "knows what it takes to be excellent" at something they have never done themselves might fire them because they felt their Smile wasn't bright enough.. or because a Client might throw a temper tantrum over a valuable they lost themselves and accuse a perfectly honest person of stealing something useless.. you think a Manager manages? A Manager is a pretty face but the people who run the place are the ones who put in the actual work. The physical work. The essential work. Trust me, if your staff is happy, nobody will notice the absence of a manager. In fact, most work can be done more quickly and more effectively without one. Managers put carpets on hospital floors, not doctors or nurses.

I stopped working in the hospitality industry eight years ago and this video just drove it home again, why I did. I never worked in a hotel near the scale of the hotels in the video, and so glad I didn't, but we go all kinds of crazy shit from people you would think would know better. I don't miss this crap at all. I saw an earlier comment about making the employees believe in what they preach, so right and so disgusting. "You're part of something bigger than yourself and you are valued", yeah fuckin' right you are, now get down and clean the snot rockets out of the bottom of the tub, serf.

I guess it depends on where you worked. I worked at a resort for two years and had an amazing time. I worked front desk and all of us rarely had a bad interaction with a guest. I only left the job because they didn't have any full time work available; otherwise I would have stayed. Now I work in private aviation, booking trips on private planes for Ultra High Net Worth Individuals, and while half the time we communicate with their assistants, again most interactions are pleasant. One client recently sent us chocolate. The job doesn't really feel hard unless multiple things go wrong on the day of the trips, but in those instances where the catering is wrong or there's a delay because their original plane has a mechanical issue and we have to send a new one, I understand why the clients are frustrated so I'm able to take it on the chin. That said, I make a lot of money and the benefits are fantastic, so that definitely makes the bad days much more bearable.

It is simply ridiculous to engage an animal which really divides emotions:
Have you ever realized how it smells? Or how it is mishandled by humans projecting emotions on it and treating like a baby which never grows? Or making an op at an "animal" hospital so that it looses interest in female cats....

I have just watched a documentary about wars between different groups fighting each other over three thousand years ago. War... war.... war! Now I watch a documentary on luxury hotels and the commentator chats about hotel wars. War...war....war! Next time I go to hotel I will think of the soldier cleaners, cooks, and managers. I one went to a hotel in Istanbul called hotel Stop which we called hotel grot. Personally I liked it but it closed years ago and was pulled down. Hotel wars ?

But if I am on the safari hotels or the Le Duro stay or those Maldivian cottages, what if I want to see a Can-Can show and dinner and Saturday night? They don't have them! Therefore those concepts are UTTER FAILURES! Horrible, pretentious efforts. Give me a Bristol of a Claridges experience any time!!
