For all who think it was ptsd. He did not receive his C.A.R. and was deployed to an air station far from combat. He never once saw or did anything that could allow him to have ptsd. All he did was commit an act of mindless murder, realizing it was wrong, and try to use his "military experience" to get out of it. He was an armorer. He worked on weapons, issued them out, and checked them for cleanliness. He gave the Marine Corps a black eye not only for the murder, but also for integrity violation that followed. Please do your homework before sitting by safely in your home and deciding to be a typical keyboard warrior. If you don't have the intestinal fortitude to sign up for the military then don't talk bad about the ones who protect your "freedom of speech"
    Step up or step aside.

The idea it was impossible for him to be suffering from psychosis is untrue. The question is whether he knew right from wrong at the time of the double shooting.

I don’t know what’s going on. I don’t know what’s real.” A real paranoid schizophrenic, you don’t have to ask! They BEHAVE like they have no idea who they are, where they’re at or why they are there! They are seeing things, hiding behind chairs from people that can see through walls or covering their head so people w X-ray vision can’t read their mind and put dangerous thoughts in it.
They might run from people, but not w the skill of a high speed chase to flee from cops. The chase wasn’t as much of determining factor that he knew right from wrong.
Schizophrenics will run from anything, usually for NO REASON. The minute he stepped out of the car, put his hands up & did exactly what cops asked proved he knew EXACTLY what he did & what he was still doing!
He had no more options, his engine died and there was nowhere to run. He didn’t want to get maced, tased, shot, or killed. He knew he killed 2 HEROS & cops were MAD! He wanted to comply so he didn’t get hurt!
A true schizophrenic would’ve jumped outa the window screaming and run at the cops or into traffic. They would be confused terrified and keep running from the voices in their head or the people trying to do experiments on them chasing him w flashing light!
This man was nothing more than a coward. Obviously something was wrong w him, but his illness was not brought on by the military. The military was just an excuse to justify his venom.
He thought he had a forever pass to do as he wanted, destroy lives, and get away w it. People would understand and sympathize. Best yet, he would still be a hero.... because he was a Marine who saw too much.

    • @davidreed3021

2 hrs to convict. An indictment happens before trial. A person is said to have been indicted when a grand jury determines enough evidence exists to move to a trial; this hearing is held in private. In Texas, a grand jury indictment is required for the prosecution to move forward on any offense classified as a felony. If a grand jury refuses to indict then the charges are dropped. If they indict then the case goes to trial. The difference between the two is the burden of proof that needs to be met. An indictment requires a finding of guilty under the burden of probable cause. A conviction requires a finding of guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and is a much higher standard.

Makes no difference if it’s PTSD - mental illness - it’s not a excuse for murder. The killer is off the streets for life. You wonder if he will ever provide the real reason he killed. Just such a tremendous loss. A father , husband, comrade, friend , good Christian men lost. I have worked with soldiers at our VA for over 19 years - work with PTSD and mental illness - it’s not an excuse for murder- getting high and drunk is a choice - not an excuse for murder. Incorrect. He was never anywhere near combat. His job was to clean weapons and issue them. Obviously f*cked in the head, but not PTSD.

WormEffect X he knew exactly what he was doing, that’s why he immediately drove Chis’s truck to his sisters house and told he had killed them.

WormEffect X that’s why the PTSD defense didn’t work. He had full knowledge of what he was doing, Eddie was proven to have Mens Rea... and actus reas and it was enough to give him life. The defense didn’t have any evidence of this resulting in ptsd...

If you make killers . And then they kill . It's all very sad for all parties. After serving you're not the same person no matter who you are. It's very hard to get back to "normal " we need to really do a better job of taking care of our veterans. Be safe and take care of your family.

Who are you referring to when you say, "When one of his friends was taken from him he killed two more in anger"? It sounds like you're referring to Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield's murderer, Eddie Ray Routh. I thank God that the jury saw through his insanity bullshit! He tried to get away with their murders by claiming insanity but his actions and statements following their murders gave him away. I hope that he gets what he deserves in prison! The fact that tax players have to support him for life getting 3 meals a day and watching TV all day is a hard pill to swallow!!

I can't help but notice the ignorance in most of this....we strive so hard to fight for PTSD and those who suffer from it, yet a U.S. Veteran has a PTSD attack while at a gun-range (not smart for starters) with another Vet who KNEW he had PTSD which results in the shooting death of the helper(DUE TO PTSD), so we decide he is beyond help and deserves to be locked up and have the key thrown away! You CAN NOT have sympathy for one person who suffers from the disorder and not the next!! #USA

It's terrible that this hero was shot in the back by someone he was trying to help. I have a question though that I haven't seen anybody ask... If Chris Kyle and Littlefield had a funny feeling about this guy why did they ever turn their back to him? I'm not suggesting it's their fault by any means I just wonder what you guys think???

I believe Routh was extremely envious of Chris Kyle and saw an opportunity at the shooting range. Chad just so happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. RIP to both.
