Was never a big fan of these hoods on the new wrx, just cause it makes the car look mismatched in other colors but once I saw it on the dark grey it just fits it right and matches really well. Looks really good on that color and that color only dude 👍🏼
My 2015 was hit prwtty hard by hail and my insurance only gave me 6k to fix it. I was thinking of getting a carbon fiber hood and trunk as those are the parts hit the hardest and this video helped me make up my mind about the carbon fiber hood thanks.
I know its been 6 years lol BUT Question.... You don't have FMIC right? what did you do about the TMIC Shroud? did you install an aftermarket one? or Jimmy the old one to it? Just curious because I'm looking at the same set up, but they don't come with a Shroud. and it's a MUST HAVE for TMIC. Otherwise the air is just flowing AROUND it.... LMK if you can.
If you swapped the heat shield over like you should have, there'd be no need to remove the aluminum mesh pieces. Hope the heat doesn't end up screwing up the epoxy. Does look dope though 👍🏼
동윤 what i mean is, spots around the corners and edges of the carbon fiber, are turning white and are powdery, as if the clearcoat is coming off because i didnt put the heat shield underneath the hood
Looks good I know people recommend hood Pins wondering if it's hype or would the latch do the job nothing to crazy what I do I speed a bit but mostly daily drive? Thanx
ive heard if you keep pushing your hood down to close it youll put dents where you push, i always drop mine at a small height. love the hood, im mad jealous!! gratz!
So how much weight did this reduce? Also, I would spray paint that mesh black and put it back in. That hood scoop is pretty big - you wouldn't want a chunk of something flying in there.
I got one of these for my sti and some of them come really shot from the factory because of the molding mines pretty off on the right side of my hood so just be careful buying these other than that cool hoods
I've been drooling over this hood, since I got my gray 2016 STI. I had my shop deter me from buying it, saying my stock hood was better quality. I want it again now, after watching your video. Did you have to cut the hood to make it fit? What adjustments did you make, after the video ended to close the gaps? BTW...I just ordered my fender flares. No DYI here, however. :) Yours look amazing! Thank you for sharing the videos.
Man that looks toooo dope!!! I'm so envious... I want that big wing and hood too hahaha.. The body shop doing the repair on my car wants $1,100 additional if I have them install the STI wing which sucks so bad :( Insurance only pay for the WRX ofcourse so I'm not going to do it.
Hey Dustin, did you ever fabricate a hood scoop air duct to the TMIC? Did you post up a video of it? Im thinking about getting this hood for my 2020 STI but I don’t want to heat-soak my engine. Thanks!
Get a undertray, the air i s going straigt under the hood now and not truu the intercooler It is mounted on he oem hood. mov it over to the new, so you got effect of the IC,,,that is not the case now
WOW Looks awesome! I'm wondering why the video got a little weird looking. Did you not have a 180 degree shutter on the footage? Those 50mm shots look amazing!!
***** During some parts it was kinda choppy around 2:37 it will give you a weird effect if its not a 180 degree shutter or about double the frame rate. I have done this before and just wanted to give you a heads up if you didn't know about it.
***** I know its tempting to just increase the shutter speed when its sunny out but the footie will look unnatural. I need to get some ND filters so I can run low apertures in the sun. Do you use and ND filters?
+Blake's Garage oh okay. No I don't. The camera auto adjusts everything for me while I'm shooting so I'll have to check the camera settings. I just bought it a couple weeks agai
Does the hood need to be modified to have the dampers and lining for my grimmspeed TMIC to fit? Looks like the TMIC doesn't have the lining to direct air to it correctly. Let me know. If I need to drill into myself great if not then it's a no go without a FMIC
Have you noticed more dirt/water getting in your engine bay because of the vents? I'm up in organ and am worried about rain water…? Thanks!!! @DustinWilliamsautomotive
Dude awesome man, thx for the extremely fast response. Yea I just got a brand new 2016 Lexus IS200T Fsport sedan, planning to get some Front Lip and Rear Diffuser for it. Guess Seibon is the way to go then.
+Dustin Williams Automotive Media yeah I follow you as well. I don't have the FR-S anymore. I sold it last year. I picked up a 04 STI back in November and been working on that ever since.
+Do Boy's Garage nice!! I knew I recognized the name lol. I had my civic back when you had the FRS and I would drool over that thing haha. I'm going to check your page now to see the sti haha
How much horsepower do you want that thing to have, I'm getting the same car but in black with a couple of mods from Subaru themselves, like the Harmon kardon audio and rear diffuser and short throw shifter
Hey how's the hood after a couple months? I saw that installing the hydrolics is not recommended because it can deform or crack the hood cause of pressure? Anything happened cuz I do want to install the hood with the hydrolics
I found a few articles about some companies trying to fabricate one but nobody ever followed through. The idea from this is that your going front mount. I'll probably switch to VIS that has its own ducting or just do a cf hood scoop and vents. www.snailperformance.com/journal/why-do-you-need-the-under-hood-ducting-for-your-subaru
+Dustin Williams Automotive Media fab something up too work cuz you need that for your intercooler so you don't get heat soak and your car won't run a its best.
i have the 2016 wrx same color and just got hit the carbon fiber hood is cheaper then OEM do you think it will damage from sun or is the clear coat good?
He probably just undid the bolts a little and pushed it across 1-2mm to even it up then tightened up the bolts to hold that in place. Its only 4 bolts and 2 hydraulic pins remember
COD Noob. Not sure why you would want one without the scoop- unless you have a front hood mount intercooler, having the scoop will feed air into the stock top mount intercooler. Besides, it totally makes the car look cooler ;)
You need the hood undertray for that, and that they dont mount. that the part that points the inflowing air thruu the intercooler , as it is now the air just pass the intercooler, but not going truu it as it meant.

Thanks man!!
how do you go about adjusting it?
Agreed! It matches the Grey PERFECT!
Lol I didn't know the pigeons from finding Nemo came out with a song 😂
lmfao
Seagulls...
My 2015 was hit prwtty hard by hail and my insurance only gave me 6k to fix it. I was thinking of getting a carbon fiber hood and trunk as those are the parts hit the hardest and this video helped me make up my mind about the carbon fiber hood thanks.
Flows really well with the look of your car! You need some limited headlights, with the dark housing!
Dude I know. I'm getting them done soon. Gonna be crazy!
I know its been 6 years lol BUT Question.... You don't have FMIC right? what did you do about the TMIC Shroud? did you install an aftermarket one? or Jimmy the old one to it? Sick man, thing is gorgeous
Thanks bro!
don't forget to the heat shield of the hood or you won't get warranty from seibon. I had that from experience
동윤 what i mean is, spots around the corners and edges of the carbon fiber, are turning white and are powdery, as if the clearcoat is coming off because i didnt put the heat shield underneath the hood
Looks good I know people recommend hood
Pins wondering if it's hype or would the latch do the job nothing to crazy what I do I speed a bit but mostly daily drive? Thanx
I will be getting those eventually!
Watching this in 2022 cuss carbon fiber hoods are dope!
ive heard if you keep pushing your hood down to close it youll put dents where you push, i always drop mine at a small height. love the hood, im mad jealous!! gratz!
unless you pushed it to make sure it was fitting all good, haha nevermind!
All I got is a 13mm wrench.....DAMN IT!! Guess I gotta stay stock.
Lol!
the hood on that black car super sick I'm loving your mods man
Thanks bro!
Yo baby Tim out here puttin in that workkkk🤟😂
Thanks for install video just got my seibon carbon fiber hood today! I can't wait to install!
+shawn stiles Nice man! you'll love it!
snow in ohio no install my mesh grill is black from seibon
I'm certainly getting that bonnet for my STI. Thanks for sharing this video with us.
Thanks man!
So how much weight did this reduce? Also, I would spray paint that mesh black and put it back in. That hood scoop is pretty big - you wouldn't want a chunk of something flying in there.
+Peter Schmidt I'm not sure on exact numbers.
I got one of these for my sti and some of them come really shot from the factory because of the molding mines pretty off on the right side of my hood so just be careful buying these other than that cool hoods

Okay, I totally just brought the hood. Ha! I mean enough is enough...18 months of looking and not buying. Come now.
that carbon hood is bloody amazing!
Thanks dude!!
Thanks for posting! Curious to how one would adjust the hood. Might you make a video of that if you haven't already made the adjustments?
+Scotty “Scooter” B Yeah man I can do a video of it. It's super easy. Just apply pressure to the side where the gap is and tighten the screws.
Very Nice Dustin!!!! Congrats!!
Thanks bro!
all he needs now is some stance nation motivation.
Oh man, stay tuned to my channel... You're going to LOVE what I'm showing this week....
I’ve been looking into getting this but on the product description is says that bonnet pins are required doesn’t seem like you used any?
I've done over 120 multiple times with no pins, they say that for safety and liability reasons. Just send it
beautiful!!! I wonder how it would look on my 2016 white wrx whith black vinyl roof?hmmmm
+bb65346 ummmmmm GREAT! duh lol
Great video dude...AND great song for the vid
Man that looks toooo dope!!! I'm so envious... I want that big wing and hood too hahaha..
The body shop doing the repair on my car wants $1,100 additional if I have them install the STI wing which sucks so bad :( Insurance only pay for the WRX ofcourse so I'm not going to do it.
Thanks man and Wow that's crazy!! You could buy a hood for that much money
Hood looks great! stupid question. With those vents on the side, is rain getting in there gonna be an issue?
I haven't had any issues so far!
Hey Dustin, did you ever fabricate a hood scoop air duct to the TMIC? Did you post up a video of it? Im thinking about getting this hood for my 2020 STI but I don’t want to heat-soak my engine. Thanks!
having this same issue. looking into making something myself..
Very clean!! Looking forward to slapping this on my Subie!
+bruceleeroy213 Thank you!
+Dustin Williams Automotive Media anytime just subscribed and looking forward to more of your videos!
Get a undertray, the air i s going straigt under the hood now and not truu the intercooler
It is mounted on he oem hood. mov it over to the new, so you got effect of the IC,,,that is not the case now
Did you this mood for looks or performance? Cuz you talked about everything except how much weight does it saves you?
+dominicancash Both, I wasn't able to get an exact weight difference, but the Seibon is definitely MUCH lighter than the stock one
+Dustin Williams ok make sense
its carbon fiber, obviously its lighter holy shit.
Dang looks Sweet! Perfect combinations done right!
Thank you Fred!
Did you have any issue about water when rain???
Thxs
WOW Looks awesome! I'm wondering why the video got a little weird looking. Did you not have a 180 degree shutter on the footage? Those 50mm shots look amazing!!
Thanks man. Idk what you mean about the footage. My vlog camera shoots 1080p at 60FPS
***** During some parts it was kinda choppy around 2:37 it will give you a weird effect if its not a 180 degree shutter or about double the frame rate. I have done this before and just wanted to give you a heads up if you didn't know about it.

+Blake's Garage ago
what about the undertray ? you dont have anything that points the airflow to the intercooler without the undertray...
Looks super clean!
Thanks man!
your forgot that washers for that sick jdm look bro
+KoG GoK lol
Very nice congrats man! Maybe a front mount intercooler next?
I actually have an aftermarket bumper on the way from Japan right now!
I am putting one on tomorrow also DGM WRX, if it needs to be adjusted how do I do that? thank you
TheSubie Guy I'm looking for the exact same answer....?
Dustin, buddy, the mesh is there to prevent a rock from flying up and in while your driving
It looks really good bro! Question is it safe to drive it on a rainy day cause I notice some of the vents are almost on top of the battery?
+CEPHALEXIN323 yes it is perfectly safe. It poured down raining the day after the hood was installed and it's 100% fine.
+CEPHALEXIN323 yes it is perfectly safe. It poured down raining the day after the hood was installed and it's 100% fine.
+Dustin Williams Automotive Media thanks for the quick reply! I just wanted to make sure I'm thinking about picking one up for my car too.
Thanx for the reply n keep videos coming
Thanks!
Awesome upgrade bro! very good time now to plasti glossify few coats or wax to prolong the life! i cant wait to get my own subaru :)
Oh yEah I've already been waxing and stuff lol
Great!
Dustin Williams hi how what do you wax it with?
Wait what a Subaru with real parts omg
hahahahaha
Tim making a return in 2020
Does the hood need to be modified to have the dampers and lining for my grimmspeed TMIC to fit? Looks like the TMIC doesn't have the lining to direct air to it correctly. Let me know. If I need to drill into myself great if not then it's a no go without a FMIC
Whats the weight difference? And the previous hood... Is it made out of aluminum?
+Xenophene01 I'm not sure bro
What's the weight difference between regular hood and this carbon fiber hood?
Great video man!!! Keep up the good work!!💯💯👌🏽
And car looks sexy as hell by the way👅💦💦
+Manuel Guzman thanks Manuel! It means alot :D
How about when it rains water doesn’t get in the motor
It looks amazing bra!!!
+Xenophene01 Thanks!
otherwise bad ass hood, cant wait to get one!!!
+Juan Gonzalez Thanks Juan!
Have you noticed more dirt/water getting in your engine bay because of the vents? I'm up in organ and am worried about rain water…? Thanks!!! @DustinWilliamsautomotive
+Christopher Saylor Definitely water, but not so much dirt!
Is Seibon Cargon best brand or something? why did u guys choose Seibon over other brands?
Yes, Seibon is an extremely high quality carbon fiber brand.
Dude awesome man, thx for the extremely fast response. Yea I just got a brand new 2016 Lexus IS200T Fsport sedan, planning to get some Front Lip and Rear Diffuser for it. Guess Seibon is the way to go then.
Seibon is real shit compared to VARIS
Nice! I'm super jealous.
No way dude! I'm jelly of you. Don't you have the super sick FRS? I follow you on IG haha
+Dustin Williams Automotive Media
yeah I follow you as well. I don't have the FR-S anymore. I sold it last year. I picked up a 04 STI back in November and been working on that ever since.
+Do Boy's Garage nice!! I knew I recognized the name lol. I had my civic back when you had the FRS and I would drool over that thing haha. I'm going to check your page now to see the sti haha
haha well i guess the tables have turned. Now I'm drooling over your WRX
+Do Boy's Garage haha! Thanks man. She's my baby... Much more to come though!
How much horsepower do you want that thing to have, I'm getting the same car but in black with a couple of mods from Subaru themselves, like the Harmon kardon audio and rear diffuser and short throw shifter
im making 325whp/345 wtq
+Dustin Williams right now you are? When I get mine and finish modding it I plan to have 600-800 horsepower
Yep
yup, its dope! Great work...
+Robert Smith Thanks, Robert! More to come, stay tuned!
This may be a really dumb question but since there are open vents, wouldn't rain or snow get inside?
Yeah. The engine components are covered and won't be affected.
+Dustin Williams Automotive Media Sweet, car looks dope man. Keep grindin!
+Jed Garcia thanks homie!
Hey how's the hood after a couple months? I saw that installing the hydrolics is not recommended because it can deform or crack the hood cause of pressure? Anything happened cuz I do want to install the hood with the hydrolics
Hey Sara! I've had the hood for months now and i've had 0 issues. I don't use hood pins and I still use the hydrolics!
the amount you have spent on the wrx, why didn't you just get an sti? just curious..
I prefer the new FA engine
+Dustin Williams yea makes sense..looks good bro.
Any extra performance? Like is the hood lighter or anything? Is that intake feasible for cold air or is it blocked off
Yes, it's incredibly light. None of the vents are blocked off. it's all functional.
Dustin Williams may wanna do this to my e39 m5!!!! Thanks!
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to install the stock scoop vent ducks on the carbon fiber hood
I found a few articles about some companies trying to fabricate one but nobody ever followed through. The idea from this is that your going front mount. I'll probably switch to VIS that has its own ducting or just do a cf hood scoop and vents. www.snailperformance.com/journal/why-do-you-need-the-under-hood-ducting-for-your-subaru
you need to put the ducting for your intercooler from your stock hood on it!
+killswitchnotengage It wont fit unfortunately! I tried!
+Dustin Williams Automotive Media fab something up too work cuz you need that for your intercooler so you don't get heat soak and your car won't run a its best.
+killswitchnotengage good idea. I'll see what I can come up with
+Dustin Williams Automotive Media but you gotta video it haha!
+killswitchnotengage lol of course!!
that looks mean bro!!
Thanks homie
I just ordered my hood man! Lol
How much lighter is it?
what about water getting in the vents
i have the 2016 wrx same color and just got hit the carbon fiber hood is cheaper then OEM do you think it will damage from sun or is the clear coat good?
+G3Gixxer Mines been great so far!
Same boat, damage to OEM hood costs more go repair than replacement. Should be here any day. +Dustin, what's the name of the song in background?
Did you weigh the CF hood and the OEM hood? I'd like to know if there is any weight savings.
Nah man I haven't been able to yet. There is definitely a huuuuge difference though.
How did you adjust the hood... can't seem to find a way to adjust that gap on the right side
He probably just undid the bolts a little and pushed it across 1-2mm to even it up then tightened up the bolts to hold that in place. Its only 4 bolts and 2 hydraulic pins remember
Clean af!
Thanks will!
hey Dustin it's your neighbor I never knew you made videos
Which neighbor? haha
+Dustin Williams it was a prank.......are you laughing
+Dustin Williams it was a prank.......are you laughing
Where are the extra latches?
fits your wrx well.
Thanks man I thought so too!
How did you fix the gap?
VERY nice bro!!!
like Mr burns from the Simpsons would say "excellent "
Hahahaha!
Damn that's an expensive hood!
Do you think this hood would fit on a car that has the verticooler?
Yeah I think it will.
how do you put the latch? did you screw it or glue it?
Is it possible to get a plain hood without the scoop for this car ? Can anyone help me out here?
COD Noob. Not sure why you would want one without the scoop- unless you have a front hood mount intercooler, having the scoop will feed air into the stock top mount intercooler. Besides, it totally makes the car look cooler ;)
Eden RN | エデン work doesn't allow me to have the scoop. Is there anything I can do. I need it without scoop at least for an hour.
You need the hood undertray for that, and that they dont mount. that the part that points the inflowing air thruu the intercooler , as it is now the air just pass the intercooler, but not going truu it as it meant.
Did you use the nuts and washers that came with it or did you use the OEM stuff?
I used what came with the Hood!
Were you able to install the intercooler shroud onto the cf hood? The piece that directs air into the car from the scoop.
Hey Dustin are you going to use hood pins?
+dlroto yeah, i plan to. really dreading cutting into the carbon fiber hood
did you ever get hood pins?
No more OEM dampers?
Like the vids... hated that music lmao
Was there any fitment issues with OEM latch on the new hood?
nope!
Shes absolutely looking gurgious,i like👍🏽
Thanks man!
Fantastic! How much weight did you save?
Thanks! I'm not too sure. A lot!
you need hood pins dude, many horror stories at high speeds with out them on a carbon hood
When I get the guts to cut into the hood I will. Lol
+Dustin Williams god no!!! No pins please. That would b ugly af
I would rather be safe than sorry. When you are hitting high speeds in a car with a hood that was not intended for the car itself is nt only a hazard to you but everyone else you are next to. Ive heard too many guys say the same thing about it looking ugly. Just my opinion
seiboncarbon.com/support/ go to " are hood pins required" just looking out
That Civic Si in the back looks better.
Thanks it's my dads!
How did you adjust the hood after it after a larger gap on one side ?
????
+Estevan Duran probably just loosened the bolts. There's likely a little wiggle room.
Peter Schmidt as in the bolts on the hinges or ?
Estevan Duran Yes, on the hinges. There are only 2 mount points for the hood so there's only so much that can go wrong or need adjustment.
pronunciation of seibon is "sayben" or "sayBON"?
Saybon i believe
What the exact color of this wrx?
dark grey metallic!!
A rock or whatever else That’s on the road is gonna fly straight into that hood intake
NICE
Noice! 👍🏻😍
Thanks!
hood looks awesome but that song was annoying AF
Sorry about that. My music choices back then were not very good haha
Its all good man still enjoy your content! Creating content myself I had to learn how hard it is to find good uncopyrighted music. keep doing you!
FUCKING SICK!
