Hmm, I think I see how you avoid the wind flattening your Insta360. The mount is cocked 45 degreed and it looks like the pole is pretty much straight up? The wind always wants to blow mine flat. It's been pretty annoying. I use the X2, which is skinner (less wind resistance, right?), but it's been pretty frustrating. Keeping the pole short (2 segments) helps quite a bit, but still. Ha! I see where your mount went flat in the rain! It's not just me! I'm glad only a little bit of your beartooth ride was a bust. I can tell you, It sucks riding all the way to the north rim of the Grand Canyon only to be socked in, foggy, rainy and not even able to see the far wall of the canyon. I am the Taker of the World's Worst Grand Canyon Pictures. The view at the top of Chief Joseph Highway is incredible. you can see range after range after range on a good day. I'll be doing this ride in a few weeks, coming from Lolo Pass, MT, heading to Tetons, then over to Estes Park area. I like the lights on the back of your side bags. The hail should be a reminder not to ride in a hoodie. lol Did it leave bruises? Hail: 1 star. Would not do business with ever again! It's funny how rapidly chipmunks nibble. Like, what's the rpm on that lil buddy?
You just showed me what kind of a ass rider you are . Going down the highway with no hands on the handles of the bike . To bad you didn't tip over and smear yourself down the road. You never know when road hazards pop up .
Wham Bam !!! You knocked it outa the park again 👍Loved this ride you shared with us thanks so much for capturing motorcycling again ! Wonderful scenery sometimes comes with some weather , hail wind rain you just marched through it , Thanks so much !!! 👍😎
Just WOW !! thanks 🙏🏾 for the awesome video Jess !!! It is by far just so serene and makes you feel just in awe of how small we are on our beautiful planet ..
I was once a rider like you, then I took a huge chunk of hail to the knee! Dohvakin!!! Foos Roh Dah! In all seriousness, those were some epic vistas, thank you so much for sharing! Definitely a bucket list of roads to hit up in the near future!
Rode Beartooth on our way to Glacier last year; it is an amazing and beautiful ride. I also loved the pull off/ overlook with all of the chipmunks running around; the critters were cute, but the view from that overlook is awesome.
OMG! All the bleeps during the hail storm. Hahahaha! I just love you to pieces, Jess! And wow....that drone footage though. Amazing @FullThrottleHog!!!
Wife and I rode the Beartooth Highway on July 4 several years ago. Crossing the pass, the road was dug out of snow with walls 16 feet high beside us. The pass was a huge snow field with skiers playing on it. We had a snow ball fight on a beautiful day.
I've been out here since 1986 and have seen it snow ❄️ EVERY month of the year! We had a stretch where it snowed 🌨 on the 4th of July somewhere in Wyoming for like 5 or 6 years straight. A few year's ago we had a blizzard that dropped 15-18" of snow on the last day of school before summer break..lol..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
That's really cool. You got feed chipmunks. I wouldn't say hailstorms are fun, but you got through them. I love your video. I can't wait for your next one. I hope there is less rain. I do hope I get the chance to meet you down the road.
I have to say I really enjoyed this video. It made me laugh and had great scenery. Thanks for showing you go through trials like rainstorms and still have a great attitude.
Usually head up from the other side(Red Lodge,MT). Lived there for several years and did that ride many times.Never gets old,you will have to come back again and again.
Heck yes! Watching the Jess goes West series and reliving those epic roads!! I came over from Australia for Sturgis last year with Heavy Duty Motorcycle Tours and we headed out through Cody, in to Yellowstone before heading south through Colorado and Utah. Just spectacular riding!
I’ve ridden Beartooth no less than a dozen times and fortunately I’ve never had rain like you did. With a little luck I hope to ride it again in 2 weeks.
Wife, Eldest daughter, Granddaughter and I were there in June. All snow covered except roads. Many Moose, bear in bottoms where we stayed near entrance to Yellowstone. Greetings from Oklahoma
have not been on that trip yet. sooo many beautiful places in the Americas I want to visit. rain forest of south America to Alaska.. one of these days I'm going to ride to them all
Not the worst hail I've seen. Got caught in storm in northern New South Wales near Graystanes. We had golf ball sized hail and luckily for us we found a toilet block to shelter in for two hours. Worst one I've been through.
wife and I rode to Jackson from wa.st rode in the south entrance of Yellowstone, back to Jackson. Rode into the south entrance, out the east too Cody. up over to Red Lodge over Beartooth pass then out the west entrance of Yellowstone. back too wa.st. home. in September weather was perfect
Yes your videos just keep getting better and better I can't believe you did that in the rain I've been over Bear toothpaste and all over Wyoming Keep up the good work
Love that place so much! My husband and I went there on our honeymoon and fell in love with it. The chipmunks were definitely one of my favorites too! We hope to get back out there on our bikes soon! Your footage is amazing!! ❤️
Happy to see the GOEGEOUS PARTS of Wyoming..not happy you had to experience the very painful parts! 😲 An incredible video! "Jess Goes West" makes me ready to hit the road WEST! Looking forward to Yellowstone! Ride Safe! ❤
Have ridden Beartooth and Chief Joseph highways on several occasions and several different bikes. Always pack or wear long John’s to ride those highways.
Been there done that 4 years ago. Add to my adventure pulling a m/c trailer, we entered from the South and when on top it started sleeting and snowing and it started getting dark as it was late afternoon. One good thing the temp held at 34 degrees so no ice on the roads. Stayed the night in Red Lodge Montana. The next day the group wanted to go back over. I said see you and Cody and we finally met up later that day.
Great video with amazing scenery. That was pretty cool seeing you feed the chipmunks. Sorry you got stuck and hit by the hail. But if it makes you feel any better, when I watch it again I’m gonna take a drink every time you say OW! Lol
Rode the same roads yur on this year b4 sturgis, from cody to red lodge, then through the big horns , very beautiful, fun fact it could snow at any time on top of beartooth, it did a few weeks b4 sturgis, washed out part of the roads.
Tell why is it funny when someone ells is ohw ohw ohw.. and in pain why did i laugh at your discomfort ? anyhow absolutely loved that footage, and i loved the omaness music during the rain sequins, made it that much more omaness . i too must give my thanks at you taking us along.
GREAT video!!! I have driven in Wyoming many years ago and thought in was the most beautiful nothingness I have ever seen. Thank you for bringing back that memory. Ride safe and can’t wait for the next installment. 🏍🙏🇺🇸👍🤓
We've ridden Beartooth before, and plan on it again for the Beartooth Rally in Red Lodge this year. It's definitely one of the greatest rides ! Love your videos, keep them coming!
I rode this in 2021. top of the world had a ton, of mosquitoes. we moved on and hit the Summitt. I remember thinking how earlier in the day we had no snow and at the Summitt we were riding in snow. enjoy your trip.
I rode over the bear tooth a few days before you did. It was a crystal clear day, blue sky. I’ve ridden it a few times and this was by far the best day ever. Really enjoyed your video.
Back in June 1983, my first wife & I was on this highway only so many miles east and west of Beartooth Pass was a gravel road. I stopped at the peak of Beartooth pass and took a couple of pictures. Let me tell ya, there was still snow there and WINDY! I jumped back into the car and warmed up. You are hitting this at a good time, Jess. I didn't stop at The Top of the World because it was closed.
Road Beartooth last year for the first time as part of the HOG Border to Border Posse Ride. What a great ride. You should Vlog on of these Rally's. You will be blown away. Tell David hello from John and Samantha if you ever get to do this.
We rode to Sturgis from NY last August then to visit family in Billing MT. We then rode from Red Lodge over the Beartooth pass into Yellowstone. We got lucky with the weather that day but the next day it poured on us all day going through the Tetons so unfortunately we could see the tops of the trees on the side of the road never mind the mountains. Plus it was 40 degrees and my rain gear had an epic fail so i was wet and frozen all day but such is the adventure of long-distance motorcycling Hoping to do it again next year.
I do the beartooth pass nearly every year. You got to enjoy one of it's glorys. 12 foot snowbanks are possible in june. Beartooth rally is always the 3rd weekend in july. Very laid back. A lot more fun than sturgis. Book rooms a year in advance though. The chipmunks and rock chucks are awesome critters.
Great ride report. Loved the Skyrim reference. 1 thing in learned from traveling. Whenever I was west of the Mississippi River, if I saw a grey cloud l got rained on (only hail once) by the end of the day and it didn’t matter how far it was . It always caught up to me . 😆 Which is why I got a Aerostich roadcrafter
My first hail ride was a nice summer day, I didn’t have a jacket on and there was a random hail squall that I went through at 60 mpg. It lasted about 30 seconds, the pellets were airsoft BB sized. When I got home I had welts all over my arms, and neck. Basically anywhere I didn’t have a shirt.
so awesome!! beartooth is amazing, glad you got to experience ALL of it :) haha love your vids! its as if i had a camera & mic on when i ride ~ and those were the chunkiest chipmunks I've ever seen!!
We were with you up there that day, we stopped at the top of the world store also, you 2 were sitting on the picnic tables In the trees. We went on to Cooke city, then came back up and over about 3 hours behind you. By that time there was about 2 inches of slushy snow. 5 miles an hour, and cold and wet, brrr, glad you made it off the mtn ok also.
Beartooth pass is in my backyard, i'm from Billings and me and my buddies ride it every year. I went camping on my bike one year and on the last day it started snowing, so I had to hi-tail it to Red Lodge before getting snowed in. I had an inch of snow on my windshield, and ice cold water in my boots. Then I had the 60 mile ride back to Billings in the rain.
About a month ago I went out to Colorado and rode to Loveland pass right at 12,000 feet. I got out and walked around and took pictures of where my late wife and I used to ride. I couldn’t breathe. I chocked it up of being 62. A few days later we have fun wheeling up about 11,000 feet. Again I couldn’t breathe. The next I rode back home to Kentucky. Two days of breathing hard. Went to the doctor and the problem was a pneumothorax a partial collapsed lung. I don’t know if I can ever get back to the Rockies. Plenty of rides in the Midwest
The tall poles on the side of the road are for the snowplows to help them find the road in the spring, cause the snow usually gets to the top of those tall poles.
I have rode beartooth highway from city too red lodge on a 1995 fatboy had a blast loved it now you have too ride mt evans in Colorado it's highest road in North America omg !!!!
You definitely can't predict the weather Jess as this video was evident but the scenery and roads looked like a good ride in better weather conditions glad you were able to see these open ranges and mountain valley views keep up this great adventure be careful and ride safe my friend God love ❤ ya
I'm in SKYRIM! got me, but then singing the opening theme got me even more. Definitely going to have to make myself some plans for the future to go ride those roads!
Been on Chief Joseph and Beartooth a couple of times now. Wife and I got hailed on in 2015 (on the down slope from the lookout you were feeding the chipmunk) and got the rain, too! :) And they're always doing some sort of construction during the summer months. It's their only time to have decent weather. Hopefully you got your Top of the World shirt. If you stop in Red Lodge, MT they have a shop called Bone Daddy's motorcycles which sells shirts that say "Get your ass over the pass!" in honor of the ride. Glad you made it up there, hail and all! The Big Horns in Wyoming are also very nice off of 14A. Great vid! The views are breathtaking and incomparable!
I wish they had all this technology back in the 90’s. Since May of 1999 I’ve had 5 Harley’s the you could travel across country with. I had a 1999 heritage, a 2001 road king , a 2005 ultra classic and I now have a 2014 Streetglide special. Between all o those bikes I’ve rode over 230,000 miles and I’ve rode to all 48 of the continental US.
Been in hail one time. Heading home from work one day, I had my winter gear still so it was nto feeling the hits, but I still hauled @$$ back to the office parking deck to wait it out. Wasn't ito the possability of one coming through my visor as I drove. That sceanery looked really impressive, must have been even better live.

Did it with my kids in the car years ago. On my list of roads to bike over. I have some kind of a shirt from it (I think)
I’ve ridden Beartooth no less than a dozen times and fortunately I’ve never had rain like you did. With a little luck I hope to ride it again in 2 weeks.

I went over the pass 3 times last week . We had 36 degrees and sleet , then 40 mph winds and rain , then 40 degrees and sunny
I've ridden Bear tooth pass. The scenery is amazing at a 2 mile altitude.
Thank you for the journey, awesome
Love that place so much! My husband and I went there on our honeymoon and fell in love with it. The chipmunks were definitely one of my favorites too! We hope to get back out there on our bikes soon! Your footage is amazing!! ❤️

Amazing capture of those squirrels, national geographic at its finest on her two wheels channel, awesome 👍🏽🥳✔️

Everything looks so beautiful and that sucks you got hailed on hope your not all bruised up have a wonderful rest of your trip
This was a great one start to finish good job
GREAT video!!! I have driven in Wyoming many years ago and thought in was the most beautiful nothingness I have ever seen. Thank you for bringing back that memory. Ride safe and can’t wait for the next installment. 🏍🙏🇺🇸👍🤓

Awesome Vid! Thanks for sharing! The hail was a beast! 😬
Beautiful. Beartooth was not open when we were out there in early June, because of snow, so it is great to see your video of it.
I think it opened like 3 weeks before I got there!

Raised in red lodge area… done beartooth in the summer as well as winter. It’s definitely something to see and do …

I live in Wyoming ....the flat part in the southeast...and I rode that for the first time in 2020. Awe inspiring for sure.
We were with you up there that day, we stopped at the top of the world store also, you 2 were sitting on the picnic tables In the trees.
I road the Beartooth pass in my Miata with the top down and tunes cranked! I can't wait to ride it again.
Hey, I’ve seen lots and lots of motorcycle videos, this one is by far the best yet……really enjoy it…….
Such a beautiful ride i know you had to enjoy that
Another brilliant video!!!
Amazing..the WY landscape is beautiful
Was there last year, awesome ride for sure
I wish they had all this technology back in the 90’s. Since May of 1999 I’ve had 5 Harley’s the you could travel across country with. I had a 1999 heritage, a 2001 road king , a 2005 ultra classic and I now have a 2014 Streetglide special. Between all o those bikes I’ve rode over 230,000 miles and I’ve rode to all 48 of the continental US.
That Hail Did Suck !!! So cool to see Me in Your Vid. Thank You!!
Nice video, excellent work!!! WY is so beautiful and from a motorcycle even better!!
Great video on a great trip. I love that you're not afraid to be real. Awesome!
Great video! I will get out there someday
Looks fun, as always
Nice choice of music on this video. It made all the difference for me watching.
OMG! I'm not the only one, I always think of the settlers when I'm out on the road. Kind of mind boggling isn't it?
😂
And we don’t have to worry about dying of dysentery. 😁
Those chipmunks were soo cute, they are living the good life! They looked well fed. The scenery was awesome too!
The chonky one killed me!
Been in hail one time. Heading home from work one day, I had my winter gear still so it was nto feeling the hits, but I still hauled @$$ back to the office parking deck to wait it out. Bear tooth highway is my favorite road in America so far. With that said, I haven’t done “going to the sun road” yet in glacier national Park.
