    Exactly the same place and box on C5 X7 (2010). Thank you!

    Would relay control unit be responsible for engine suddenly going to no more than 3000rpm, but after restarting it going back to normal until it occurs again next time?

    • @ThatRunningGuy

      You need to find out the fault code stored in the ecu

      Quite a mouthful of what could go wrong with this one, it seems.

    Mine is lumpy and Smokey when cold could it be glow plug related? Fine after about ten mins of driving

      Just changed my glow plug relay on my bmw 520d. Gave me the fault code. Without a fault code it’s just guesswork. Car would take a few turns to start, blue smoke only on cold start up and rough idle. Since changing, all back to normal

    What is this relay for?

  • @bassoalto

    My 407 sw don’t start after a few minutes on ralentí (slow motion) because the computer get too hot. After 40 minutes, I can start fine when the computer get cold. (Gasoline version. Not diesel)

    I have a 407sw 2.0 hdi it's starts fine as it warms up thick white smoke and shakes could this be related

    • @ThatRunningGuy
      @ThatRunningGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No as the glow plugs and relay are to do with starting the car. Causes of White Exhaust Smoke. ... One of the main causes of white exhaust smoke and coolant loss is a cracked or warped cylinder head, a cracked engine block, or head gasket failure caused by overheating. A cracked head may allow coolant to leak into one or more cylinders or into the combustion chamber of the engine.

    I have same p1351 faulty code and p0088
    On peugeot 508 2.0hdi 103kw 2011,im changed fuel pressure sensor and now when its machine hot working perfectly,but when its cold he have bad (leer) rpms.
    Its possibly because of that glowplug rely?

    • @ThatRunningGuy
      @ThatRunningGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A glow plug is a heating element that heats incoming fuel and air to encourage efficient fuel combustion in a diesel engine. The fuel combustion starts your engine so that you can drive.

    What were the symptoms that made you change urs? my car is now going into limp mode because of my FAP being full of black smoke my car is producing, but before that i could see the care was kind of missfiring like losing power for a second and then coming back as if the diesel stoped going in for 1 second and started again, were your symptoms like that?

      Glow plug relay.....it was a starting issue.

    • @ThatRunningGuy

      I brought a cheap eBay £5 OBD2 reader and found the fault code using my phone. Re car losing power for a second....could be a dirty fuel filter??? (cheap and easy part to change)

    how did u figure it out it was the relay? I have the same 2.0hdi 136 bhp and my glow plug indicator doesnt light up and it's -2degrees celsius. No errors on dash or on diagnistic tools.

      I used a ODB2 code reader to get the fault code. Then start with the cheapest parts first: fuse, relay (£15 2nd hand off ebay) and last the glow plug! Good Luck

    • @rzepekpl
      @rzepekpl 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your method of replacing the glow plug relay is good but why would you like to start with the cheapest part first? This way you might replace every single component and still have a car that is not running properly, both relay and glow plugs can be easily tested with a simple multimeter, only replace the parts that are faulty, replacing one good component with another good component will not fix your car.

    • @ThatRunningGuy
      @ThatRunningGuy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** true, I've never had or used a multi meter before. Just had a code reader to hand.

    • @rzepekpl
      @rzepekpl 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a very good tool, highly recommend, this channel might be useful for you "Schrodingers Box" if you're interested in diagnostics with a use of a multimeter, even though the tool has its limits you can get quite a few things tested with it, scope would be ideal sometimes but it is very expensive. When it comes to glow plugs you need to be careful with them, a lot of times the tip of the glow plug breaks off and stays inside the head, there are tools to pull it out but it can turn into a real nightmare very quickly. I've had a chance of diagnosing glow plugs not so long ago on a 2.0 HDi engine, the plugs are hardly accessible, but the connector is not, it has taken about 5 minutes to check the resistance of all 4 glow plugs, once you get familiar with all the tools and testing methods it gets a lot quicker. Please be cautious though, the tool can cause a lot of damage as well if not used properly, the channel above is a good place to start :)

      I do. remove the filter airbox and it is by the rear of the headlight.
      It has an aluminium ribbed cover and is held on with a nut. remove the electrical connector as per this video.
      Just taken mine off today, think the part number is 9640469680. Have some on Ebay, some look different but I assume they do the same job as the part number is the same.

    was the fault code p1351, because my car some times dose not start, check battery, starter motor, alternator. now im thinking relay or glow plugs.

    • @ThatRunningGuy
      @ThatRunningGuy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      P1351 on Peugeot diesel cars relates to 'Preheating Relay Circuit'
      Start with the replacing the cheapest parts first: Relay (£15 2nd hand off Ebay) and then getting the glow plugs tested.
      My car still has a P1351 code & takes a little longer to start when 5c or lower, but lucky for me always starts. So I possibly just have 1 glow plug that is faulty.
      Good Luck.
