Not very many people are building these and it makes it difficult to check out what guys are doing and build up my knowledge to the level I have with GenIII and GenIV engines. The blocks go for $2300 prepped by SCDP and are supposed to be as strong as an LSX. Even capable of 4.125-4.165" bore n/a, depending on the source. Google doesn't bring up any big inch strokers or even much with stock 400ci engines. I had the idea a while back of buying a complete L83/L84, assembling or buying a pullout L8T, using the top end and accessories from the 5.3, doing cam+springs, vct delete, header and building a budget, high compression, high torque Frankenstein. From what I have seen the 5.3 heads are still pretty good and capable of well over 500hp on a 5.3 with flow similar to 821/823 rec ports, I was thinking that with the DI retained, 11.5-12.0 could be possible and it could make around 600hp as a 400ci and might get close to 650hp as a 427-441-454ci stroker at 4.125" bore and 4.0"-4.125"-4.25" stroke. Shame the blocks didn't stay as cheap as I initially saw them around $1000. Ford sells new 6.8/7.3 Godzilla blocks for $995 and I am tempted to leave the LS/LT reservation considering that I could assemble one of those with a stock crank, forged rods and pistons with 446-452ci for about what an LT8 block and crank cost. Must be that the performance scene is still lagging from covid compared to how good things were and how rapidly the performance game was moving before. Cool build thanks for sharing.
Ain’t gonna lie when I first came across ur Honda swap vids in the beginning I was like WTF. I thought what a dummy! But I was intrigued and got over it And I subscribed. But now that ur doing a V8 swap back into it on my favorite car of all time, I’m really excited !!
Was certainly looking forward to see how it would turn out with the K series in it but a v8 in a camaro really is impossible to argue against. More power to ya (literally!) and good luck with it!
Great 🎥 been looking at this block for future build great to see someone taking the time to show the whole process also pretty funny guess ICT is the plug 😆 keep up the great work
Brain Tooley of BTR just had a video out today where they extensively tested port vs DI and they lost up to 85hp going to port over the DI, NA...they said it was an 8% overall decrease in airflow available to engine it was an eye opener...plus lots of torque lost...I was gonna LT2 port converted myself till I seen that.... Just get a stand alone harness like spear tech and the ecu from engine, any lift ( low side ) that can supply the engine is fine...just harder to tune but worth it looks like... Or Holley with their GDI add On... SDPC made 2000hp with this block and crank, WILD
Dude stock LT1genv injectors will handle 650-700hp? And stock LT4 genv LT4 injectors can handle over 1000hp !? The HI pressure pump from the lt4 good too! Your main issue is having a good EFI that's your $$$$ but not 4-5000$ as you said. Just a little FYI , unless you're going carburetor?! It's all not cheap 😊
Brother you should put the injectors on E-Bay and sell the cheap. Someone out there prob needs an injector and can't afford a brand new one. I was thinking about building a L8T but there running around $6500 even on E-Bay. There is one on there that has 3 miles on it and they want alot of money for it lol.
That’s exactly what happened to them injectors. They are on feebay. Yeah the 6.6 L8T is not a cheap platform to get your hands on, but if you do get one the smiles… they just don’t stop!
The oil pick up tube is cast into the pan. It being part of the pan makes it to where there is no more tube to bolt up. Just an oval seal between the oil pump and the pan
@@HOSSgarage estaría genial hacer una réplica de la 454 ss. Imagina ese motor es lo mejor de dos mundos bloque de hierro y desplazamiento de big block, con la parte superior de un motor moderno inyección de combustible y gestión electrónica
No the LT 6.6 L does not come with arm or DOD factory. so you don’t have to change the cam you can but you don’t have to if you just lock out the VVT solenoid.
It’s the perfect upgrade. You can covert it from direct injection to regular port fuel injection and it will be the best upgrade. It’s already non AFM and non DOD from factory
The orange rust looking stuff? Looks like a hole but it definitely isn’t a hole. I went over the entire block with a wire wheel to prep it for paint. No holes. Thanks for looking out
HIT THE LIKE BUTTON FOR ME, REALLY HELPS THE CHANNEL GROW! THANKS 🙏 ❤
makes my day to see other people still modding and enjoying their 4th gens as well!
Thanks! 4th gen is a great platform!
4th gen ftw. Awesome cheap car easy to make fast
Welcome home :) FYI, SDPC has already made 860 bhp naturally aspirated with ported heads and high compression pistons.
Thanks! Good to be back!
TOTALLY AWSOME BUILD!!!!! TOTALLY AWSOME VIDEO!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!

Dude I appreciate you checking the build out so much! Glad you’re enjoying it!
This video was very informative video. Taught me allot about gen v
That thing is clean! Can't wait to hear it fire over.
You and me both! One step closer to the road!
This swap is gonna be killer in the SS
THANK YOU SO MUCH. HOT RODDING INNOVATION!!!!! I LOVE THE UPGRADES!!!! PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED!!!!
Will do!
Right on!! I just purchased me a L8T block so this helped me out a lot. I’m a new subscriber. I appreciate your detailed video 💯💪🏾
Thanks for the sub! New videos soon

13:10 install the sensor before mounting the sensor mount.
facepalm... i wish i'd thought that...
is that just a regular Ls oil pan? i have a Oil pan for my Ls swap looks just like that one. are they the same?
@@shadetreerestorations9053 nope they are way different. Pick up tube is cast into the pan on gen v engines
@@HOSSgarage thank you for getting back to me
No 7.3 nonsense here 😤✊
6.6 all gas no brakes.. literally no brakes cuz I haven’t finished the brake system hahaha
Oh hell yeah!
Hope all is well D! High five! Very nice!
Did this swap in my 2018 z71 with c8 intake and 218 cam..very strong engine
Heck yeah! Awesome sounding engine. Did you upgrade your oil pump or delete the level sensor?
Are the motor mounts the same?
One thing I Def like about the Gen 5 engines is they don't have the 5 small bolts across the cyl heads.
Oh then you’re gonna love the next video!!! Thanks for watching 💪
What cam are you going to go with? Deleting the DI and staying with a stock cam is going to delete a lot of power.
Either TSP or BTR

It’s carbureted now
Did you use a windage tray with the new pan?
Yes. The new pan comes with it.

It’s a Holley Oil pan clone. Grabbed it on Amazon.

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙂
L8t is direct injection, need high pressure fuel pump and very expensive! Better swap with ls7 more simple and reliable....
This L8T is no longer direct injection. L8T stronger internals more hp.
Thing had a hole by the 6.6 sign.
