Sean and Dustin think like myself, cost and practicality play a big part for me. Like Sean said, the BMC is a bit too boutique and proprietary in its approach. Even if money was no object, the Specialized would be my choice and just spend the money saved on some parts (anodized bits, grips, saddle, etc) to customize it to my liking.
I love my Chisel! With some carbon wheels and other lightweight bits, it's truly one of the most capable bikes I've ridden! XC racing, trail riding - and with a rigid carbon fork - bike packing, chunky gravel, adventure road. ATB!
I bought a Chisel 4 months ago: for my application (lots of XC, with mostly moderate up- and downhill) and budget the absolute sweet spot nowadays, I rode Specialized in the past, always loved their XC bikes with regard to the ride and the Chisel is no exception! If I got one for free, I'd like that BMC too 😄!
I’d buy the Specialized because party in the back and take the BMC as the freebie. The BMC is unlike anything I’ve ever owned so I’d let curiosity take the wheel with that one and expand my riding characteristics.
Chisel, anything else I’d have take out a second mortgage. I have a base model chisel from a few years ago….very capable even with shat parts. With those loamy trails I’d go full rigid.
0:41 If you like bottom bracket shell that is out of spec, different sizes, and not round. I've seen Hambini show how bad it was. I would definitely avoid BMC. 3:33 Ibis seems to have a good reputation. but not tried any one. So can't say if it's great or not for sure.
If I could choose between the three, to have for free - it would definitely be the BMC - any day. Wouldn't buy any of them really... 3500 for an alu hardtail is ridiculous! Last year I bought the cheapest spec'ed 2022 Scott Spark RC (Full carbon, 120mm front and back, Sram NX) and it cost me like... 500$ more than that Specialized... I get it that the Specialized probably has higher grade components, but this is something most people won't notice at all.
Can my answer be buy the BMC in the Two-stroke version & get the Ibis Exie for free. Do you think you can review the just announced Ibis DV9 carbon which is like the hardtail version of the Exie?
If its just between those 3 bike's if had to buy the Ibis even though its ugly I'll never own another hardtail rode them all my life as could never afford anything near a decent full suspension until this year i had abit of a winfall and bought a embt on sale for 5k lol 5k crazy but one life goal ticked off at the age of 38! Id take the BMC for free so could sell it for something better suited for the trails as it's an XC bike so limited on trails
The profile at the end of the Ibis w/ dropper down is pretty ugly. It's a bike I've been considering but I'm not in luv w/ the look. I must be getting vain in my old age. How's that for ironic?
Let me guess, you're asking if Sean is possibly Ron Lewis' kid? Definitely, some similarities in the looks department.....Ron, where were you in blank month of blank year?....lol
lol these prices are for shmucks. Hilarious watching the bike industry flounder while the people running it are somehow counfounded at the obvious that they have overpriced themselves out of business.
Fantastic concept, excellent production, and loved the descriptive reviews for each ride/bike. More of this, for sure.
My work here is complete! 🙌
Wanted just say that! Properly put together video's, on all levels. Love this channel.
Did I notice a sneaky spliff break going on?!
Nothing beats a awesome ride with the occasional phatt one to enhance the experience 👍
I actually did buy one. I’m a happy owner of a Chisel in the same color and very similar build spec. It’s a truly wonderful gravel bike! ;)

The Chisel has a frame that is well worth hanging the very best parts on it.

What a rad experiment! Awesome filming as usual this episode

Chisel is REAL!!
That bmc is a rocketship. Looks so fun to ride! Very rad action takes.
Dustin you're getting better at mountain biking. Cool beans
Hardtail for me.

Chisel please. Love a good hardtail.
YESH
I like Sean’s assessment the best. Practicality and such… I need to find a HT now.
You will be stoked!
Neat idea for a comparo! I gotta say, an AL hardtail for $3,500 is a trifle steep. I know it's Spesh, but.. daaang.
It’s because that is not a stock build kit
@@jmr909jmr Noooow I'm on the trolley
Such a great way to do bike reviews!
Whaaaattt !?! A mountainbike ONLY trail . Holy crap. That's a wet dream in these parts. ☹
BMC has modern XC geometry down pat….love their stuff.

Can you drop a link for that oakley helmet? That things dope.

Hey Dustin... Tell me about your Patagonia jacket (in the Pro´s closet segment) 😀
Can I get the BMC for free so I can sell it, buy both the other bikes and still have enough $$ left over to upgrade the Spesh wheelset?
😂🤣
"it's a casual triple black" 😂

Wow what a great ride! Hmm... I think I like your pick for the bike. Although maybe when I was younger. I could do it maybe with a dirt bike?
13.500, bike industry take a look at yourself ffs.
budgets gotta go for the hardtail I think
Is the travel fixed on that BMC dropper post? It doesn’t look like a very big drop, but the automation is cool.
There is a LT version of the BMC with 120mm of travel
finally... somebody reviewing mountain bikes who incorporates smoking weed. niche, established.
My People!
Ooof!! Late to this party but the Chisel is where my $$ would go.
What glasses are those?! And do they come with prescription? 😶
Dustin, maaaaate, we like the yellow glasses 🤓
Winged eagle belt is legend
Great vid, I’d take the Ibis !! 🏁🏁🏁
Great concept ! multi purpose experiment
great video man. i would not ride any of the 3. If someone gave me one i would sell it and buy more 90's hard tails.
I'll take the singlespeed please.
Buy the hardtail, be gifted the BMC 🚴♂️👍
Dig this!
And we love those glasses too 🎉
But what are they??
Nylaarn for life doggies.
Faaaacts!
My knees hurt after watching you guys switch bikes a few times. Jk. That BMC is a very nice. 👌
was that a road gap?
But what glasses are you both wearing??
BOOM: 🌝 DK’s Yellow Glasses: bit.ly/DKs_Yellow_Glasses
These are always in the description of each video as well
Nice contest😎
Chisel
$3500 for the chisel? That looks like the '21 model which sold for $1600 base or $1800 comp. I know it's an upgraded fork.
Fork and dropper were another $1500
@@dustinhenderson8945 is that a 100mm fork
@@theymademepickaname1248 yes and 150mm dropper
Great!
beast !
I would take the BMC for free. No need to buy any of them 😅
hshahahahhahaha
I call foul!!!! I didnt see anyone blaze before the first lap.... variables were not controlled... 🙄
You will have to trust that we kept all parameters equal in the name of science! 😉
LOL
I buy a chisel cos I bought 1 and I'd love a new one for free
fo chisel my nizel
When are you going to di a "Tell me about your bike" bumper sticker in your commotion style? People who know, will know.
Cool idea!
The profile at the end of the Ibis w/ dropper down is pretty ugly. It's a bike I've been considering but I'm not in luv w/ the look. I must be getting vain in my old age. How's that for ironic?
The BMC looks kinda looks like a bigger bmx bike
Dustin H!!!
I feel like Sean and Ron are related...
Is that guy whatshisname's kid?
Let me guess, you're asking if Sean is possibly Ron Lewis' kid? Definitely, some similarities in the looks department.....Ron, where were you in blank month of blank year?....lol

I broke my collarbone on a chisel at Black Rock 4 years ago, do not recommend
You're a terrible rider.
go for a road bike instead.
Smoking bad gummies good
Smoking weed in the BR parking lot?? Don't.
It's a delicate relationship between trail stewards and camp hosts here. We don't need any more conflict.
Jeez louise
so not bikes for normal humans
i couldn´'t even affort the chisel, so i would take this for free. the other ones are way out my league. #underbiked 🫀
