As a grown man pushing 40 I watched the same show in South Texas. When the Covid hit I deep dived into the Lord & Gospel Music. Been going strong ever since...Dixie Hummingbirds, Pilgrim Jubilees, 5 Bind Boys of Miss. & Ala. , Rev. Julius Cheeks, etc...Thanks to the Internet I was able to experience new what you Experienced as a young boy. Now, into my early 40's I love Jubilee Showcase! I think it was, had a 100ft. microphone cord and when things got really cooking she went out into the audience and danced and held hands with us as she sang. To say it was a powerful experience would be grossly inadequate to describe what I felt. Besides the vocals, the beautiful haunting,sparing, understated, sublimely tasteful guitar of Pop Staples was powerful. At this time I believe the brother sang with his sisters also.
