Animal Cedeńo, gracias por tu comentario. Perdona que por error bore tu comentario. Respondiendo a convertir linea Blanca que trabaja con 220 para que trabaje con 110v. Puedes buscar transformadores. Pero lo más importante es el amperaje de consumo de tu aparato electrico y el amperaje que da el transformador. Hay mucha información en internet. Recomiendo canales de reparaciones de jente de España y México. Mucha suerte. Saludos.
if you run a jumper from common to #1terminal, you will have 110v to the dryer heating element. it will take about four times as long to dry (because of Ohms Law) because you'll only get 1,400 watts approx. instead of 5,600 watts. this is how RV and Marine electric clothes dryers are wired. They don't take special heating elements, they just wire up for 110v instead of 220v.

So how about an oven which run 240 volts was converted to 110v, would that take a longer time to to make? what about if it is converted by a volt converter?

Si tienes una estackable(secadora montada sobre lavadora) lo que sucede es que con esta manera de connectarla le estas quitando 120V a la secadora. (las secadoras trabajan con 240v luz trifacica como se conoce en muchos paises) entonces la lavadora trabaja con 120v porque asi funciona pero la secadora te va a prender pero necesita los 240v para que haga que los components electrico-electronicos funcionen osea en conclucion no te va a cecar solo agitara la ropa. espero q te haya servido

Te recomiendo para ese tipo de trabajos poner terminales faston redondas y queda mas seguro evitando que algun pelito de cable pegue con otra terminal y se ve mas limpio tu trabajo

I believe I heard him say this only works for the washer...which is correct. The washer operates on 120v. The dryer however, has a control circuit that works on 120v but the dryer element only works on 240v.

Maurice Williams the heating element is 220v, dryer controls and motor are 110v. You can run a jumper between terminal 1 and common (middle terminal) and supply 110v to the heating element. Because of Ohms Law, the element will only be able to draw 1,400 watts versus 5,600 watts for 220v so drying will take about four times as long. *****WARNING*****DANGER*****- DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS "CONVERSION" UNLESS YOU ARE A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN. FAILURE TO CORRECTLY WIRE THE TERMINALS, GROUNDING TERMINAL AND WIRE AND CORD MAY RESULT IN AN ELECTRICAL FIRE, PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH!!! just making sure no one tries to sue me for injury, death or property damage. This wiring is similar to wiring a 110v/220v electrical motor. just remember, it's gonna take a long time to dry your clothes!

Nessa Barker you need to watch de video an maybe pause it/rewind it to follow the steps. Remember this will work for your washer only but not for the dryer. If you don't have an stackable you are looking the wrong video.On your wires the color are the same as I got for the conversion and the colors on your unit are the same as mine so follow the video. Just make sure that the other end of your wire(the white one) is the neutral (the bigger plunge). Hope this help you out and if you have any question please let me know,
Can this be done to a 240 electric dryer? I have a friend that has a fullsize dryer that runs off a plug just like this one he engineered. It works amazing she does know the person who made it did change it to do this but he no longer sells them. Can i do this to a fullsize dryer? Please explain why or why not and how she has one.
Randy Blü a full size dryer heating element draws around 5,600 watts, about four hair blow dryers on high. Because of Ohms Law, watts = volts X amps, the most you can get out of a 110 receptacle is 10 or 15 amps. you are correct that a clothes dryer can be wired 110v to the element but there will only be about 1,500 watts available to use for heating, about the same thermoelectric yield as a blow dryer. In other words, it will take about four times as long to dry the same amount of clothes using 110v/15a as it would 220v/30a. This is why 110v dryers made for marine or recreational vehicle applications have 300 minute settings on the control knobs and buttons.
Can I use my 220 cord off my old dryer on my stackable washer/dryer the 240 doesn't fit
With only the washer, a step down converter will work easy for the non-electrician. My issue is with a 220 Dryer (from US) to 240 foreign. The US dryer will work if you get a 110 to 220 isolated center tap transformer. There may be an alternate way if you wire the 4 wires separately. The dryer works on 110 to 110 hot giving 220. This operates the heating element. The 110 is taken from 110 to ground used for the electronics and motor. If you wire them separately, it should work. However, the question is what gets real ground. Do you tie the two grounds together or only use chassis ground for the dryer case?
Thanks for the explanation. See the steps starting at minute 2:04. I really don’t know 4 the 4 wire dryers. But what I did was disconnected the ground from the chassis that ground plus the neutral from the cord connected to neutral and the ground from cord to the chassis,the hot cord goes to 1 or 2 (see schematics for your machine).
Can i put a jumper power wire from one hot to the other so I can run either the washer or dryer on 120 ?
Sorry my friend I'm not an electrician but I don't think that is possible. The outside wires (black on right and red on left) are your hot wires. The washers only work with 120V so if you jump the two lines you get 240V and washer will be damage and.... be careful. However dryer may works but won't dry your clothes, by the time that I put this video there was no information for stackable w/d 240v to work in 120v. Please let me know if you figure out how to do it.
I have to add a jumper wire from the hot for the washer to the would be other hot wire terminal. This is because the wash cycles aren't cycling because the unpowered relays aren't kicking over. I'm not operating the dryer.

Las conexiones de la lavadora son parecidas al del video, tiene GND - L1 - N - L2. Como haría la conexión desde 220v monofasico hacia la maquina? Desde ya, muchas gracias!
Jesuan Lazarte, lo que podia sugerirte es que agarres el diagrama de tu lavadora/secadora que lo conseguiras al abrir la parte donde estan los controles o en internet por el modelo.

Obdulio Gonzalez .primero aclaremos algo no son alambres son cables de corriente. Nocreo que te sirva ya que primero el consumo de corriente seria increiblemente grande ya que estariamos hablando de prender tu secadora mas de 4 o 5 veces para una secada y segundo los cables se pueden calentar y eso puede convertirse en incendio no contando que el motor tambien se puede quemar ya que esta diseñado para 220-240vac no para 110-120vac. De todas maneras si tienes una stackable (lavadora/secadora) repito STACKABLE (lavadora secadora) pues sigue el video y en ves de corriente en linea 1 pues corriente en linea 2 recuerda en mi caso la lavadora fue en linea del lado izquierdo y secadora del lado derecho. Espero te sirva de ayuda.
Hola Guillermo se podra hacer lo mismo con una secadora.. la de 220v me tumba la luz a cada rato.. se podra convertir la secadora 110v .. lavadora trabaja bien pero la secadora me truena la luz.. y jamas la uso por eso.

Secadora electrica trabaja con 220-240 dependiendo el pais. Secadora no secaria la ropa porque el heater element trabaja en 220-240. De cuantos amp es el breaker?
Thank you very, very much amigo. My washer/dryer (aka laundry center) specifies only 240v and I need to run atleast the washer for now. It did not mention which terminal is for only the washer. And for all of the people asking if they can run a 240v electric dryer on 120v, you CANNOT for safety purposes. The reason being that if you cut the voltage in half, the amperage is doubled. You are attempting to pump twice the amperage (starting amps) out of a 120v circuit than what it would on 240v. 120v can be more dangerous than 240v in some circumstances. Remember, amperage is what heats up wiring, hence why 120v requires such large gauge wire. If you manage to run the dryer on 120v it might be as warm as a sweaty ball sack. Consider a gas unit instead.
This is incorrect. The amperage doesn't magically double. Your dryer will simply work at a lower wattage (1/4 power to be exact), so it will dry extremely slow at 120v. This confusion is do the formula E=IxR (Voltage = Current x Resistance). So the thought is that when you decrease voltage, current must go up. But decreasing voltage reduces counter EMF which means resistance is less. Your load demands what your load demands. Changing the supply voltage doesn't alter this.

sandro villatoro la secadora trabaja con 240v en condiciones normales,con esta conversión la secadora trabajará pero no secara tu ropa como en otros comentarios se ha mencionado. Como se echó a perder la secadora en mi caso y la pieza era demasiado costosa además ya habían cambiado otras piesas pues hice este vídeo para si alguien tiene una como esta pues no la tire a la basura y pueda usar solo la lavadora en 120v. James Nguyen All dryers work on 240 v. If you put your dryer on 120v by this method it won't dry your clothes. If for some reason the dryer wont work anymore I only made this video to show how to use the washer.

Si el manual dice 120/240 pues si te funcionaria ya que los fabricantes no te Mienten. Ahora tendri que ver en el manual si tienes que cambiar la resistencia esta es la clave de todo.
I'd like to specify that your diagram and machine look identical to my Kenmore/Frigidare/Electrolux from 2007. I think in error you mentioned to connect to Line 2 but your diagram as well as mine is showing the red wire as Line 1. Inside the dryer door it shows Line 1 as a 12-amp motor (double that for motor starting amperage). Line 2 appears to be the dryer motor which is 5 amps. I'm not sure if those are 240v amp ratings. These machines do not specify anything really.
Thanks for your feedback. Line 1 or 2 doesn't matter to much. If washer motor works in line1 fine if doesn't will be line 2. I'm been using the washer only for more than 2 years I do not need the dryer.
My washer seemed very sluggish. As if it wasn't rotating at full speed. But maybe with the split phase 240v (120/240) it may have been trying to draw additional power that wasn't quite there. But as far as I understand the washer is 120v with a 12 amp motor that needs quite a bit of startup amperage through the 120v line. It should be run on a 30 amp circuit with a 10 gauge line.

No. Mira es como tartar de prender un carro con una bateria de una moto. Si vives en USA todos los apartamentos tienen al menos una toma para conectar la secadora. La lavadora trabaja con 110-120v si tu maquina es lavadora abajo y secadora arriba (stackable) y funciona pues un electricista te pone 220-240v. Agora si tienes una (stackable) que la secadora no sieve mas pues este video es para que luego de poner los cables siguiendo el video pueda funcionar la lavadora. Cualquier duda pues escribeme. Un saludo. No es algo simple. Para esta hay que recablear desde la brequera ya que la corriente de 120 es completamente muy diferente. Lo mas facil es comprar un transformador de 240-220 a 120-110 en las tiendas como lowers o Home Depot si vives en USA o en ferreterias. Mucho mas barato seria Por internet. Suerte

This looks like a washer/dryer combo very similar to the one I have. Both units share a single 240 cord. Can I still switch to a 120 cord and turn them both on?
The receptacle and cord(to work correctly) needs to be 120/240 volts with 2 hots, 1 neutral, and ground. The washer runs on 120 volts, the dryer controls are 120 volts, the dryer heating elements are rated to heat up a certain amount at 240 volts. If the heaters are connected at 120 volts, it will take a long time to dry. Strongly suggest you do it as it's designed to be used.

Sherri Long I assume that you have an stackable one. If so remember that only the washer will work and yes you need to find a 110-120 v old wire from an old washer and the reason is originally this stackable comes with a 220-240 v plug and the washer will work with 110-120 v. (Depends the country). Here in the US is 120v. You may want to watch de video one more time to see the convention. I hope this answer your question.

Johson Merk this convention is for a combo(stackable) when the dryer stopped working then only the washer can be used. For a regular 240 dryers the answer is no. You can’t convert 240 dryer to 120.

Asegurarce que el neutro es en realidad neutro O’Shea siguiendo el final de el cable que es la pata mas grande y Mira si esta conectado correcto. Si conectaste la corriente en 1 pues cambia para 2. Deveria de functionary en 1 o en 2.

He is Jerry rigging this machine to run as it was not intended! This is dangerous!!! He didn’t even route the power cord bac threw the strain relief. Do this at your peril!!!!!!!!!

While I agree he should have ran the wire through the strain relief. The washer was manufactured to operate on 120 volts and the dryer on 240 volts. The terminal he attached the wire to seperated the two phases of the power, the 120 for the washer and he left the other side dead. There is nothing wrong with this setup other than the wire not being secured. The dryer was not intended to operate in this setup. We have done this to 240 volt dryers just as demonstrating without using the heating element, even the dryer uses 120 volts for the motor and the timer motor and light inside the drum if it has one. Now if he had tried to wire the dryer heating element things would have been very dangerous and a fire hazard, also since the dryer motor also runs on 120 volts along with the Dryer timer motor unless the dryer motor is dead the dryer will run although without the heating element because that takes 240 volts. No after say all this if this would have been in a country that uses only 240 volts this setup would not work. The only reason it works is the United States uses two phases of 120 volts to create the 240 volts for our major appliances.
Not all in real life is learning in school or is in books. Thinking out of the box is how you fix things.thanks for the comments.
