  • This week we head up from Brisbane along the Burnett HWY. There is so much more to see, free camping and less traffic
    With what little info we could find we drag the trailers up the steep climb from Monto. The track is defiantly not for caravans, but ok with campers. Not rutted, just a bit rocky, steep and long.
    We had 2 days of heavy rain and we where actually in the clouds so everything inside and out was wet. The track dried out fast and supprisingly the creeks where not flowing, which if they where could easliy leave you stuck up there. More heavy rain was forecast so we left a couple of days early to be on the safe side.
    Camped at Razerback which we picked so to be alone, but turns out main camp ground was very quiet.
    National park has no water, bins and only pit toilets at the main camp ground. Be respectful at the bomber crash. It felt like a grave site as the bodies would have been there for 50 years. Its a mark of respect to see this site and leave it undisturbed.

    To promote Kroombit Tops National Park in Australia. The Destiny's Child hit Lose My Breathe could be remixed changing the chorus lyric of: 'can you keep up' to 'kroooommmbit tops!'
    You'll love every krom of it.

    Think I might have disturbed your Razorback camp on a rainy afternoon, came down to check out the camp site and didn't realise it was so tight... sorry, I was doing a reccy run before dragging our camper and family up there in the cooler months. I came in via Razorback track which is a great drive if you aren't towing, then went out via Cedarvale, stopping at The Wall overnight. I highly recommend checking out the Monal mining area and cemetery next time you are up there.

    Great trip...did parts of it a few weeks ago. What's your camper? it looks like what I want to get next with a pop top and outside kitchen, rather than the windup we have.

      Its a lifestyle breakaway 2plus. Made in Australia. Real offroad camper. Full ready to travel around Australia camper setup video uploaded later next week. Otherwise we have a video uploaded last year on the trailer. Best thing we ever bought.

    There are no gold mining relics at Kroombit. They are mainly down around Monal etc.

    Why why why do you let your tyres down just to go up there. It is such a simple drive.

    • @GoingOverland
      @GoingOverland  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To stop tyre damage, make the ride more comfortable and traction towing a 1600kg camper up the mountain. It's something we do any time we hit the dirt

      @@GoingOverland Mountain? that is just a hill. please don't try and make a simple drive something exceptional. i have done all three tracks to Kroombit many times. None of them are daunting or troublesome.

      @@sg3596 I did the back track from Cania Gorge in 2006, up to Bettsy, and let the tyres down to 24/28 for the trip, as I look after my Cooper Geolanders. At that time Bettsy was not very well signposted, and one way down and back, no loop via the Wall. The B-24 was not closed off, and some of the search grids done by the Yanks to identify body parts were still visible from when they were there in the mid 1990’s.
