- -Welcome to the Sleep Ranch! We are located in the Northern Black Hills on the South Dakota/ Wyoming border where our ancestors settled and started ranching in 1883.
I (Carson) work alongside my parents, Jeff and Jodi, our ranch hand, Jaques, my wife, Damaris who also works as a nurse in town, and our son Silas! We have friends and family who come along very frequently as well!
We run a cow/calf operation where we summer our cattle on the Black Hills National Forest and winter them in the foothills of the Black Hills. We also have a backgrounding feedlot, and grow alfalfa and grass hay.

Trailing cow in a storm like that 25+ years ago and seen lightning kill 2 cows in the front. I’m scared of being outside in lightning now. Stay safe in that weather.

I know I’m not supposed to be jealous but it is so green where your at and the rain ……. We are dryer than a pop corn fart here in Parker County .😅Carson I can’t help myself. Looks as if y’all will have plenty of hay . How many more cuttings you figure to get. Angus should be ready to start going with y’all soon . Silas and mom are looking good. How is her garden doing. Today is August 4 and at this time it is 103* at 2 PM .

Wow, that was some rough weather to be moving cows in. Your mom is a real Ranch wife riding a 4 wheeler in the pouring rain rounding up cattle. Glad that you were at least successful in getting the cows together after maneuvering through the hills in the downpour.
Moving cows in a rain storm looks like a whole lot more fun than cutting and loading tobacco in 114 degrees.
Feel like temp was 124 here in NE Arkansas yesterday

In Hawaii rain is a blessing, looks like they shared a little with South Dakota. lol

Was getting those cows moved on that day worth your life? I ranch too, and love watching other peoples videos from around the country to see and appreciate all the differences. But when I am out working, facing my elements, I always ask myself, is doing this worth my life? No. There will always be another day.

The cows were done with playin in the rain they wanted to get under cover in the trees. I swear Sylus is growing so fast. He has the cutest smile. ❤

I have had to ride in rain like that before!! We started a trail ride once that began with sunshine, then rain, then sun, then snow, then sun, then rain and finally sun! That was an interesting 8 hour ride, to say the least!

Enjoy the rain, but not the hail and lightening. "Bubs" looks cute as always. You need a clothes washer so when you get back with wet clothes you can put them in it and wash them. Hope you guys stay safe and healthy.

days like this I like my dri's-a-bone full slicker, covers saddle, horse, legs and keeps ya from sliding off the old wade... just tell your cows you're moving them to a dry pasture....................??

I'm surprised that the cattle spread out so much. Our cows always stayed together in the pasture. If you find one, you've found them all.

I always have loved being up on the Big Horn Mountains with thunderstorm and listening the thunder echoing off the mountains…. But moving cattle during a thunderstorm can’t be too good or safe…It would seem like you could be a target for a lightning strike….It looks like you got a good rain up there according to the water on the trail….Trump loves talking to the cows and letting know he’s coming for them….😊 Glad you all are safe and in where it’s dry….I’m sure Demarius would appreciate some rain for her garden….Angus is ready to play….See you in the next video..Thank you…

We haven't had a drought in 17 years...but we do this year...just started feeding hay, normally we don't feed til mid- November her in NW Wisconsin...
