Like your style, not overly complicated, just nice and simple. 👌
I may be an imperium aligned warhammer fan but I hold a deep love for the dark vengance era cultist as they are a great base kit for conversions. two of my imperium armies have models drawn from the cultist sculpts from DV and those models are some of my favorite models in my collection.
I have turned the following sculpts into:
- uniform wearing sculpt with close combat weapons (one of the two matching sculpts has a gasmask): planetary defense force imperial guardsmen, used them as vehicle crews, cupola gunners and built platoons worth of them
- chaos great coat guy with shotgun and sword: commissar (removing all chaos bits and doing both a chest replacement and some sculpting), inquisitorial accolyte
- skirt and long axe sculpt: imperial guard pskyers, possibly an evisor assassin soon though i need to work out what model body i am going to use instead
- autogun open coat gasmask cultist: tech priests (before the plastic tech priests came into existance), imperial guard veterans and commanders (mainly just the legs), ministorum crusaders (one 10 model squad is basicly complete, 2 more 10 model squads are underway
- full coat and autogun with sewn mask: used the legs for a commissar yarrick conversion
- the rest: i've built imperial milita and other milita troops from them as well
I love the kit but it's gradually becoming more and more expensive to get more of them for kitbashing. for building the guard army i've started having to look to alternative options for squads that look similar because finding enough models for a price that i can afford and enough models per lot is becoming harder

As far as those cultists go you was gentle with them. People usually mutilate those guys for conversions lol. I don't think I seen the guy with the trench coat with his shotgun in ages.
