also in the manga, when the elder from the kurta clan was holding the eyedrops in the manga, the design on the bottle looks 90% identical to the gate of the DC 11:24 when the V5 where talking about the Gatekeepers, interesting note, the door handles look like eyeballs
Maybe Leorio even has some comnection to the Dark Continent. He's no slouch, passing the Hunter exam on the first try. Granted, it was with help, but it's still a phenomenal achievement. He's also canonically very strong, pushing open the testing gate on his own in the manga. Additionally, Leorio developed his nen abilities much faster than Zushi, who was already a great talent with nen. Even though he wasn't as fast as Gon, Killua, and Kurapika, keep in mind that he was studying for medical school at the same time.
In Yuu Yuu Hakusho, Yusuke, Hiei, and Kurama all were either full or part demon. That's almost all 4 protagonists... except for Kuwabara... who was the only full human.
Everytime I see a video about the Dark continent I almost explode with intrigue and excitement, I think Togashi did something absolutely masterful with his creation and the way he decided to present it, it is something I've imagined but honestly never seen done this wonderfully anywhere else and honestly can't wait for the day I get to see him explore the Darkest depths, of the Dark continent
I had a dream of giant monsters fighting each other recently but it was scary asf there was a giant spider crawling up a mountain it was kinda like the dark continent
One other explanation for their infamy as a clan could be that this remaining off shoot clan left the main clan due to being opposed to using their abilities for evil gains. The main clan does atrocities and is eventually wiped out but the legend of scarlet eye signifying evil monsters lives on and thus the desire to own a pair to show how you conquered a monster. They carried the sins of their people and remained hidden to avoid retribution then the phantom troop acquired the location and the story happens
That’s what I was thinking too! I personally think that the Kurta Clan was a group of humans who renounced their animalistic urges to kill and violence and thus intentionally forgetting nen-based teachings(which was maybe mainly used for killing creatures) but retained a somewhat-related ability that is more passive like the one that enabled them to hide(an illusion or isolated space perhaps). Another addition is that the Kurta Clan was a bunch of defectors of the main civilization rather than a clan which took a liking to humans’ peaceful ways that came to migrate to lake mobius to live peacefully but was ultimately shunned because of their people’s whole schtick. Which would be awesome because there’s a possibility that we’ll come across a civilization full of red eyed people who may or may not be violent towards our protagonists and be antagonists themselves to the upcoming stories. Another theory is that the clan was a small group of specialists who mainly practiced passive abilities like illusions (maybe they were considered weak) and was then sent to lake mobius along with humans (who did not have abilities either) as outcasts
kurapikas ancestor is the dictator of meteor city whos going to separate the nen users to non nen users, notice when people saw the scarlet eyes they refer or identify them a monsters or demons.kurapika ancestor has done a lot of atrocities in the meteor city. and when the people of meteor city learned how to use nen the law of of retribution has establish or in other words an eye for an eye "only life can pay for a life".its all about revenge and the elders of meteor city know all about it or should i say the mastermind of kurta clan massacre
i don't know if you'll read this comment but the door at 11:20 has a design extremely similar to the medicine bottle that the old kurta dude gave kurapika, he said that their predecessors tried making that medicine to supress their kurta eyes, most likely referring to the kurtas who lived in the dark continent
Probably this comment is going to get lost and you’re never gonna see it. I’m from Dominican Republic. I just wanted to thank you for your HXH videos. During pandemic I was going through Dialysis and waiting for a kidney Trasplant, and while I was 4 hours connected to the machine , 3 days a week, your videos kept me entertained and motivated to keep my mind off the hardship of not having kidneys. If by any point you feel discouraged, Know that the things that you do and theories that you bring about this series, matter to lots of people very very far away.
Weird food for thought: What if the calamities weren't considered calamities to ancient humans. What if those calamities were actually easily hunted for sport and/or food for ancient humans and the reason they were sent over was not because it was a punishment but whoever sent them was just trying to be nice and send a parting gift.
Or they are just hitchhikers and the expeditions aren't very good at at keeping the rats from climbing aboard the ship when they sail home. The problem is the rats from the Dark Continent are things like the Chimera Ants.
I swear I could listen to you explain literally anything, you have such a great way of presenting your ideas and a nice cadence to listen to. Thanks for keeping the HxH community alive and well with your constant content.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but i wanna say i saw a video about nen being reason humanity had to leave from the dark continent. So it’d be cool if when we get to the d.c. We find out things without nen survive better like nen is actively sensed by everything on the dark continent as a food source so Gon not having nen could be the best way to actually explore the D.C. which would be dope.

TOGASHI HAS BEGUN THE MANUSCRIPT FOR CH. 417! We have 17 new fresh chapters of HxH. Togashis work ethic in the last few months have been unprecedented in recent times. This makes me believe we might have hit a new paradigm of togashi wanting to progress the HxH story faster. I have a hypothesis humans on the dark continent had a war that was massive with each other & the humans in the center of Lake Mobius are survivors, or a colony
That would be kinda cool if the kurta clan is just an offshoot of the main clan and the main clan still lives in the dark continent. Don freecs only explored the shoreline and the dark continent is so huge that its possible no humans came accross them.

The Kurta Clan swirls remind me of Junji Ito's _Uzumaki_ which fits perfectly with all the eldritch horrors going on in the DC.
The Kurta clan was conjured by Junji Ito and he is the gatekeeper to the Dark Continent.
