These cars are criminally underrated. Congratulations on picking one up. If you can get past the rust issues, it will quickly become one of your (and your wife's) favorite cars. You have a lot of studying up to do on SU carburetors. If you haven't already, get yourself a Moss Motors parts catalog. The exploded diagrams in it will be invaluable to you. Don't expect the car to run well until you replace all the rubber components in the carburetors, the dashpots have been oiled and they have been adjusted correctly. After that, the majority of the running problems you encounter will be caused by the distributor. Electronic ignition makes things a lot easier. Thanks for posting.

you have a mgb not miget it is the engin you have looks like its an early one not a 18v check the i.d to find parts are not the same
