cracks me up all the people saying he can only do this because he's slim.. I know 50 guys who are this size who can barely do a press up. takes immense body strength to achieve this. most calisthenics guys are slim and ripped, in my opinion controlling body weight to this degree is the peak of fitness.
SirUncleCid Massive legs do nothing for your fitness unless you're a cyclist or similar. What do you need your legs for? Running and jumping? For those tasks, lean is actually better since it means less weight.
Wonderful form! I don't know about others, but I like that physique. It's completely natural and no sign of "buff"ness. Yes, I have loads of respect for people who work their asses off at the gym, with huge ripped physique, but it's just a matter of personal opinion- a natural lean physique with immense agility and fitness. This is the best I've seen so far.
Jose Ixpertay I am 41 and I just did my first muscle up 3 weeks ago. Keep on training and you will make it. UPDATE: I have, on my channel, added a video of all my attempts and the first successful kipping muscle up. In 2020, I will attempt to do a strict muscle up.
Hell ya! That's my goal! I started calisthenics 2 months ago and I could not do a push up now I can do 20 with a 30 sec break in between up to100 ,as many times a week as i can! Consistency and stick with the progressions ,and listen to your body! It's good to see others striving forward as Well! Cheers!!
Pull ups is always easier for lighter people, however I'm 95kg and can do quite a few even with added weights. However he is still very strong considering the low muscle mass he does have.
I did lat pulldowns til I could 6 at 100kg, with stritct form may I add. I never trained to failure except when I did 6 at 100kg, to make sure I could train lat pulldowns at least 3 times a week. After I was done with 100kg the pull ups where not as challening and I eventually worked up to 6-7 reps with 10kg added.
I was thinking the same. I do not understand what he is doing to be able to shift the hands like that, and no explanation is given. I thought it was going to be doing the one hand at a time, very small loosening and twisting.
Very strong arms in full lock is a start. Then as he pointed out impossible dips give you the insane tricep strength that is needed for control while manoeuvring as pushing out of full lock.
By doing gymnastics, i.e. functional all-body exercises. For professional gymnasts, sure, there is a strict nutritional regiment, but being a gymnast and being ripped are inseparable. For example, rings require extraordinary core strength, not just arms and back, so one cannot do gymnastics without being very very strong all over. Look up Nile Wilson, he's trying to push gymnastics into mainstream fitness for this reason.
To be honest, this seems more helpful in learning a muscle up compared to other videos showing muscle up progressions and step by steps. With this video I can analyze each movement and that transition that I have difficulty with. As I can see, it's all in the wrist at the transition point.
He's got some strong ass forearm arm and triceps there. I got my first slow false grip muscle up today and can't comprehend how a non false grip like this one feels. I really wanna work up to and achieve this and the explosive one motion muscle up one day. Good luck to everyone else that's also going for this!!
Man those are so smooth and your strength is insane. I just uploaded a few clips of my first muscle ups at age 37. Hopefully I can slow them down like these one day, my first ones are trash.
So... I'm reading the comments, and I realize that a whole bunch of people are missing the point of calisthenics. Becoming better means being able to do hard moves/excersises while feeling confortable with your own body. If you are 60 kilos and you are able to do 10 muscle ups, is not CHEATING.
I could do this when I was like 12, yes being really light helped, I was 5'1 maybe 85 lbs. I can still do 2 or 3 but I am now 5'7 185 lbs. This guys is a beast regardless....
After watching tons of videos about MU, I now sure that you need to be able to pull up with an extra weight of half of your body weight. If you're 80 kg, you need to perform at least 1-rep, perfect form pull up with 40 kg weight (prefably a few reps) easily. Pure strength is what you have to focus on most...
Props to ya, dude! It's tiring seeing so many people doing 'muscle ups' when they're really just kipping and using momentum. You have just pure strength here!
10/10,this is the best one I have seen, thanks for your video. I am working towards to slow muscle up using your method, my wrist tends to slip off the bar wheen using false grip evn i use rubber paddings or so ever. Your method has proven, you can do it without false grip. Thanks again, you have giving me the motivation doing it with normal grip.
Thanks for the impossible dips advice, I’m a rock climber who can always get my forearms perpendicular to the bar but can’t seem to get my elbows far enough over the bar to push my weight down into the bar like a dip. Will definitely incorporate those into my training. I can do front levers and at least 20 pull-ups (I stopped training to failure after I reached 20) so I doubt that strength has been much of a barrier, but the wrist technique is what I was missing.
Great! This guy motivated me a lot to practice my slow muscle up technic. And finally I could achieve slow muscle up movement with pure strength. Thanks!
Finally I did my first slow muscleup with no false grip ..i has the strength and skills I couldn't do it he problem was on wrong position of my shoulders in the transition and the distance between my hands on the bar I .Now I understand the movement :)
I’m around 170 pounds. I do a lot of calisthenics but nothing crazy, I can chest press more than my Body weight, bench more than my body weight I can squat double my body weight. I run 2 miles 5 times a week and I’m around 11-12% body fat right now. So I am very athletic. I can drop down more body fat which is what I’m doing for my summer body. I can definitely do at 10 muscle ups and more when I drop weight but to do a slow muscle up?? That’s PURE STRENGTH! I’ve tried and tried when I have been in the single digit bf percentage and I still can’t do it but I know that I need to work harder to achieve a slow muscle up but you people saying it’s because he is thinner blah blah blah.. stfu you don’t know the hard work and are Lazy as fuck because y’all don’t push yourselves past you limits and don’t believe in yourselves heavily!
+Misael Ricardo Chaves Leiton Same here. Something I've recently started trying is trying to do pullups with my palms already face down on the bar...almost as if you were trying to hold on to a ledge. I can normally do twenty pullups with a regular grip, but I can't even do one good pullup that way, but I feel that it really focuses more effort on my forearms, which is exactly what I think I need to improve on to get through the transition.
I Like How He Doesn’t Start Off With You Have To Put Your Hands In A False Grip Position Like Most TH-camrs Say Cause I Love Doing Muscle Ups And I Never Used False Grip To Learn

Hi Barstarzz. Thank you for the video. Very impressive and inspiring. Like some others, I am able to use false grip to muscle up, but I am having trouble doing it the way it is demonstrated in the video. I can’t seem to get my hands to rotate around the bar. I tried loosening my grip so that there is a lesser area of contact contributing to friction, but to no avail. If you could share any tips or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks again.
this is not a tutorial. this is some kind of antigravity force field demonstration. respect.

I am already 45 years old..i am not gonna die till I get the muscle up💪

i am 46 and my first muscle up 7 months ago . Don't give up!
Got it?
I get at 40 lol
This shit defies gravity
sbaio1116 With 70kg and training it is normal shit... U will never seen nobody to do that with 100+kg. Same shit as the Gymnastics
Pull ups is always easier for lighter people, however I'm 95kg and can do quite a few even with added weights. However he is still very strong considering the low muscle mass he does have.
Cobrakay2003 agree, I'm about the same weight as yours and can only do 7 reps. Any recommendations?
I did lat pulldowns til I could 6 at 100kg, with stritct form may I add. I never trained to failure except when I did 6 at 100kg, to make sure I could train lat pulldowns at least 3 times a week.

Much appreciated. Will try that today. Have fun pulling.
I don't understand how it's mechanically possible, without momentum there seems to be a transition that's impossible to do, mad respect to you.
I was thinking the same. I do not understand what he is doing to be able to shift the hands like that, and no explanation is given. I thought it was going to be doing the one hand at a time, very small loosening and twisting.
@@dandeveny4513He says to practice on parallel bar L sit muscle ups + impossible dips to achieve the transtition required for muscle ups.
Very strong arms in full lock is a start. Then as he pointed out impossible dips give you the insane tricep strength that is needed for control while manoeuvring as pushing out of full lock.
0:20 I'm like wtf.... he just keeps going upwards...?
The first muscle-up tutorial (of many) on the internet that shows proper form. I know: I was a gymnast!
you sure?
How do gymnasists get so ripped? Do your trainers advise your diet aswell?
By doing gymnastics, i.e. functional all-body exercises. For professional gymnasts, sure, there is a strict nutritional regiment, but being a gymnast and being ripped are inseparable. Yea but it's a hell of a lot easier when you weight basically nothing.

Mad respect, nice to see a real muscle up, not one of that crossfit hip thrusting shit.
Muscle up without momentum and with perfect form: real muscle up, great!!!
damn..this slow muscleup is just crazy
Agreed he did a great job, world class

People who do Muscle ups are usually a combination between momentum, timing, and strength. But this right here is pure Strength, mad respect!
I thought they are usually a combination of blood, tissue and bones 🤷♂️
Nice form. Will do that low bar practice.
The best workout channel on TH-cam by far.
vidvidvid2012 Honored, thank you
OfficialBarstarzz featured you on my blog: sambagblog.com

impossible dipping is a great idea...never realized, that its the same motion as the ,,turnover point" in the muscle up
Watching this again in 2024. Still mind blowing with the strength, control, and dedication to the art!
Nice! As a former gymnast this is a basic move bit still very nice.
Do you remember how gymnasts are taught this basic move?
Look at his shoulders at 4:15.. Dammit. That's pure power.
wow pure respect for this guy! crazy strong ..

Holly crap you are strong! Amazing transition. Have you ever taken time on your slowest muscle up? I just uploaded one at 1m48s.
Amazing. I always have trouble in the transition. Without momentum and without kicking my knees high, I cannot do a muscle-up.
10,000 man points for this guy
Just got my first slow muscle up!
Now this is a muscle up. Wow!
beautiful. now i understand how the elbow moves for the muscle up
Outstanding performance and very nice advice and tutorial. You are awesome
This is next level shit. This isn't calisthenics anymore, it's advanced gymnastics.

Best tutorial by far!! Awsome.
This guy looks skinny as hell but when he gets on the bar he looks like ripped Jacky Chan
