I bought Ole La Mano from him in 1962. He has not lost his fire a bit. I like him so much more than Paco de Lucia. He plays the traditional flamenco and his technique is superb. He’s playing here in a school’s gym? It should be in a concert hall. Thanks for uploading.
Sorry, Mario Escudero was one of the greatest flamenco guitarists of all-times and, one of the greatest teachers and, I took one or, two lessons with Mario here in nyc way back but, Mario was not Juans' idol, maybe an influence but, Juans' big heros were Ramon Montoya, who by the way was one of Marios' teachers and, the big pioneer of the flamenco guitar and, Juans' other big hero was the great Sabicas, even though Juan came up with his own style and, came up with a few techniques of himself.Oh, if if you want to compare the two Juan and, Mario Escudero, I really know Juan was the better guitarist. Maybe you never heard Juans' early elektra recordings like 'FLAMENCO FENOMENO' or, his first album 'OLE LA MANO'. Juan was the best flamenco guitarist to come on the scene since the great Sabicas and, the thing was he had his own style, came up with a more sophisticated rasguedo while everyone was using the same old rasguedo and, was the only flamenco guitarist using his pinky on his right hand on the arrpeggios which made them sound fuller. Even today not many use their pinky finger on the arrpeggios. Juan was also the first flamenco guitarist to earn a doctors degree in music and, the first on 'GUITAR MAGAZINE' cover. Maybe you don't know much of Juan. Oh and, let me remind you that Juan was also one of Paco De Lucias' very big idols, along with Nino Ricardo, Sabicas, Mario Escudero and, Victor Monje Serranito. Now explain again what you mean by 'he did from Mario Escudero'. JUAN SERRANOS' BIGGEST FAN.
