When I was a very young kid it was Karen Carpenter who inspired me to play drums and Charo who inspired me to play guitar. You just don't see this type of talent these days.❤
I slept on both of them for a long time. Didn't realize until very recently that what made them both famous overshadowed their truly high level musical skills.
They both were/are legendary musicians. Karen's voice is what overshadowed her drumming skills and Charo's looks and natural timing and gift for comedy overshadowed her guitar chops. So many people never knew how great they were. You can blame talent management and corporate greed not wanting to risk their cash cows being taken as serious musicians.
@@kaneshuppert636 --- I agree with your reply to the original posted comment. The problem is now the same as it always has been, entertainment industry executives, agents, promoters, and of course sponsors and advertising agencies don't always promote the actual talent that people have but focus on what is a marketable aspect of that person be it looks, or ability to act or something other than other talents they may have. That is the business of the entertainment and advertising and modeling etc... industry, to make profits off of people whichever way they feel is the best way to do that. Most of the talent (industry name for the people who work in front of cameras, on stage, performers, etc..) are going to go with whatever their agents tell them to do because that will make them the most money in the shortest amount of time. Being a celebrity has a very short lifespan for 95% of people who become famous, so they do what is going to make them money and fame right now even if it isn't their best talent. Being an actor makes more money than being in a Barbershop Quartet even if it's the best in the world. Many people who are creative types are multi talented, actors can sing and dance, play instruments, and vice versa. If they are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work in multiple areas then they have to make the choice of doing what makes them money or doing what they love if they can only do one thing. Usually once they make some money they go back to what they love and maybe more talented at. One of life's lessonss is we have to work, if we can work and make money even if it doesn't make you happy, make the money. But if you can do what you love and maybe be lucky enough that you can make money doing that then you will enjoy working because it isn't work. Some people would rather be struggling and poor but doing what they love. Who has the better life? The rich person who hates their job or the poor person who loves doing what they do?

1:20 Something that's interesting to point out, when the Maestro himself Eddie Van Halen wanted to do a flamenco-inspired peice for the intro of Little Guitars, he literally wasn't able to do the technique that Charo is doing at this moment. He had to cheat by doing the hummingbird picking on the open high E string while playing the bass line with his left hand. It really speaks volumes of her talent when not even the greatest rock n roll guitarist in the world could replicate her technique.

At 78, I have been a fan of Charo's for quite a while. To me, she is sexy, funny, dances well, and now, a well-trained classical guitarist. But, above all, she is so very beautiful.
Thank you 'keenanmt1' and Charo for your efforts. May you and yours, and she and hers, stay well and prosper.
I either forgot or never even knew Charo could play flamenco guitar!! W🤩W!
I heard Charo play live several times in the late '80s. Not only was she a phenomenal Flamenco guitarst, she also had those super long fingernails! I don't know how she chorded with them.
Loved these talented celebrities we used to have in those days. Unlike who is out there today.
no one makes it big without talent whether you think theyre talented or not
A thing of beauty is a joy forever. What a thing of beauty Charo is, the music, the presentation, the concentration, the style, everything! Bravo, BRAVO!
I adore her. So very talented, gorgeous and funny. Bless you, Charro! Your videos bring me joy! Liked, thank you!
As a young boy growing up in the 70's, I was absolutely in LOVE with Charo! Beautiful, funny, sexy, and talented. She had it all! Now that I'm all grown up & in my mid-50s, I realize that I was a smart boy! :)
And I'm still in love with her! hahaha
I had no idea she trained under Segovia. I was a kid when she did the Cuchi-cuchi bit so never thought more of her nor knew of her talents.
What a blast from the past! I'd completely forgotten what a fabulous guitar player she was!
Was always a fan of this amazing woman. ❤
The timeless Charo - real beauty real talent. What a woman! Boy howdee the good old days.
People still exist that have talent “these days” 🙄
@@kaneshuppert636 like who?
my friends and i were fortunate enough to see her live one night at a supper club in san francisco back in the early 90's. HOLY SHIT!!! this woman's talent is horribly underrated!
Oh man, 1977, native kid from a reservation hearing this for the first time ever, I was enthralled by Charo's performance. I fell in love 😍Still in love to this day.
Wow! This is the first time I have seen this performance, what an amazing artist. She was so young and beautiful I almost didn't recognize her. I saved this to watch again and again, I need to be constantly reminded of how much I suck on guitar - thanks Charo!
56 and didn't know she could play! Outstanding! Thank you!🤘🤠🤘
Who knew? 67 here? 😮
@@love68 pretty hands
1:20 Something that's interesting to point out, when the Maestro himself Eddie Van Halen wanted to do a flamenco-inspired peice for the intro of Little Guitars, he literally wasn't able to do the technique that Charo is doing at this moment. He had to cheat by doing the hummingbird picking on the open high E string while playing the bass line with his left hand.
It really speaks volumes of her talent when not even the greatest rock n roll guitarist in the world could replicate her technique.
Charo used her looks and comedy to get national attention, especially with Johnny Carson but she is a beast on the classic guitar.
My father always loved her playing. Can’t wait to send this to him.
Wow absolutely captivating
She plays so perfectly it's amazing. Her presentation and delivery is flawless.
Amazing, amazing, amazing!
So glad you showed me this. who knew! Incredible what she was reduced to. Such an Amazing Talent.
A wonderful reminder of how talented she was
I waited on her and her friends and family many times. What a character. Super nice, absolute pleasure to serve her.
I had no idea she could shred on the guitar.
What a fucking beast... I gotta learn how to play that tremolo bit where she's playing like a million notes a second on a single string with 3 different fingers... Absolutely awe-inspiring. Also, she was on Suite Life On Deck that one time! Neat!
@Evan Hodge gracias
I got arthritis just watching this
time stamp?
Magnificent!
She is amazing and I always find it shocks people when I tell them that didn’t know her talent at flamenco 💃
At this time, I was a 13 year old boy in awe. Now I am 60 , and still in awe!
So amazingly talented and what a gorgeous doll!!
Love to see Hollywood make a film about this amazing woman’s life. What a motivation she is. I know she would draw a crowd anywhere she went. Bravo!
Impressive. I never knew she was an accomplished classical guitarist.
I remember reading a while back she was one of the world's best. Yup... cuchi, cuchi, cuchi. Charo! One the worlds best flamenco guitar players. I can believe it, too. She got chops! Aloha!
Wow, she was extremely beautiful
I saw Charo live in Honolulu in the 80s, and she was fantastic on that guitar !
Girl had...has...one of the best tremolos in the business.
Wow! Amazing Flamenco guitarist! I knew she played guitar but I had absolutely no idea she was this good. After seeing this I went online and saw she studied under the great master Andres Segovia. OK, I know, I’m a little late to the party but I am going to try and see her play at Morongo if she comes again as it is near me. Cuchi Cuchi, she is so much more than that!
So glad this just popped up in my feed! As with many other commentors, I wasn't aware of this aspect of her talent.
Thank you for posting. Exceptional and multi-dimensional artist.
I could here you play all day Charo. I wish you had more guitar in your acts.
In her sixties, she is STILL IMPRESSIVE , GOD BLESS YOU CHARO. for your light and inspiration. JOHN❤ revisited 10 October 2023❤
Don't know if that's tongue in cheek but she is more likely in her eighties. A fantastic talent regardless of age!😁
@@michaellemaire5380 Nobody knows. She guards her actual age very closely. She has given numerous birth years over the course of her career. Supposedly, at least one year she gave early on was to protect a man from criminal charges when she was underage.
@@Guitcad1 True, but I'm thinking the birth year she gave when she emigrated may have been accurate which was 1941.
Wow, good for her!
I’m happy to see that she has talent. Good for her. Wow! I never knew….
Beautiful and extremely talented!!!
Underrated guitarist, great feel and playing here.
Mad respect for Charo. I had always heard about her guitar playing, but until TH-cam came along I didn't get to see more than a few clips. Thank you for uploading!
