7029 Clun Castle thrashes through Widney Manor | The Polar Express Birmingham | 9/12/23

- Today’s video is of Vintage Trains’ “The Polar Express”, an annual regular train in November and December which runs out of Birmingham Moor Street top and tailed by GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 7029 “Clun Castle” and a diesel. The video comprises of some quick shots from last Sunday I took with @SYKAROST at Bentley Heath for the 1pm departure followed by a shot at Widney Manor for the 3pm departure. As it was a strike day I was helped out massively by Brian and by use of the 76 and 61 buses to see a close friend and get to Birmingham for a week up North. After coming home for Christmas now, I arrived in Birmingham New Street this morning at 9:27, heading out to Dorridge and meeting @danielstrainsukofficial9133 before heading to Small Heath Bridge where I met @LiamsLocos and @blackcountrysteamvideos8021. After this it was a short but muddy walk to Tyseley where I set up but didn't get a shot because my camera card packed in at exactly the wrong moment. I did meet @LukeAlfordUKsteam here though. The 5 of us proceeded to WIdney Manor next where a handy request from Liam to the driver ensured an excellent shot. After this we spent a couple hours in the pub before heading to Shirley for the 4th return. After this it was a matter of returning home for me and grabbing a quick shot at Bentley Heath Crossing.
I hope you all enjoy as I did, thank you to all our company today and those who put up with our antics lol! Thanks to WMR, Chiltern, and XC (who for the first time in 6 attempts got me from up North into New Street under half an hour late!!! Hooray!!!) Merry Christmas to all viewers.

That's great Scott, I hope it was good. There were rumours about 5043 being on this week but they didn't materialise. For now it'll depend whether they will withdraw her for winter maintenance or she may get a chance at next week's runs. Regards, Dan
