Interesting. I'm going on 3 years with mine (2020 model) with zero issues other than the tailgate issue (although not as bad as seen here) you described here. A quick adjustment by the dealer and that was it. I'm extremely happy with mine. Flawless otherwise, despite its use as a work truck, off road and towing various heavy trailers.
I remember everyone saying that JLR had reliability problems. I of course thought they were all over blown. Every manufacturer has reliability issues with individual vehicles. So in 2012 I bought a 2012 Range Rover Evoque. Great vehicle. Loved it. It was a little small for the price i got it for. Issues: in the 1st year I had 3 different flats on the stock Continental tires that came with it. Replaced all four tires with Pirelles. Never had another flat after that. The headlights (both of them) would burn out on average every 6 months. Sometimes in as little as 2 weeks after being replaced. The Meridian sound system was awesome but if you lowered the rear windows while driving you would get a deafening feedback reverb. You only needed to come in for an oil change and maintenance once a year, but when you did at the dealership, you could be looking at a bill that could run as high as $2000 USA. No I didn’t make that up. The radiator needed to be replaced for faulty seams. The battery completely died in just under 3 years. The rear window washer jet didn’t work. 02 sensor had to be replaced I think twice. A couple other modules I’m not recalling at this time. The point being, all of these things I was willing to put up with, while the vehicle was under warranty. Couple days in the shop, get a loaner, no big deal. End of warranty period, differential needs to be replaced. Cost? $5000. Nope. No thank you. Traded it in for a Subaru Ascent. Oil change every 6 months. 5 years later no issues. I really do want a LR Defender but that gorgeous lil Evoque I bought 11 years ago has scared me straight.
Not major issues at all, bar the window leak, that was poor fitment I assume. No car is perfect sadly , even Porsche and Ferrari have more issues than this
You purchased a loaner car or a fleet car which means the dealership owner/worker's used it for a while then sold it. That's why it was cheaper because technically it's a used car. My opion of course. I own a 2008 Discovery 3 SE V8 and love it compared to the Discovery 5.
"All these issues" man there is nothing engine related, suspension related etc, you are v lucky, I have had serious Mechanical issues with my Discovery, i.e. gearbox failing, Rear Diff failing & Rear prop shaft becoming unbalanced, now I think the Transfer box needs to be rebuilt. I have had nothing but drive related issues, which has cost me now the price of a small van that I could be driving around in. Yes you have issues and yes they should not be issues like that, but that's minor stuff compared to what some or even a lot of Land Rover drivers experience/ are faced with!
I'm still baffled with that scratch in the rear hatch. I have a 2018 HSE and I don't have that particular problem. If you are watching this, you would think that the entire line up has that issue. I bought mine at 38K last year now at 43K.
I recently had a very unpleasant episode with my Disco 5. The steering rack failed whilst cornering causing me to have an RTA. I claimed on my insurance for body and mechanical repair. 14 weeks in to repair and I am still awaiting return. Very long parts wait from LR (steering rack, suspension arms and subframe). Can anyone advise if I have a legitimate claim against LR as I have excess to pay on my insurance claim and the car is now devalued as it has been in an accident. I understand that this fault has been recognised with other LR models that have been recalled but not the Discovery 5.
New reported issues: Windshield started to leak water, got replaced under warranty The black gloss exterior panels started to oxidize, getting it replaced under warranty Other than that, seems like a solid ride
Only three things wrong with modern Landies, the engineering (which is pathetic and the back of an envelope would reject most of it), the components (which are the cheapest available and often not fit for 50K miles even) and, of course, the assembly (so bad, oh so bad).
Please like the video, this car is a disaster and JLR knows it but won't admit it. My crankshaft broke into 3 pieces likes it's a toothpick. Engine was toast and no goodwill from JLR
Discovery and Range Eover are designer drug. Once you had it, its impossible to find a car that gives you the same feeling. But it will ruin your life. Im an addict, and i know understand my addiction. Never again.
ugh, I feel you. It's like a baby boyfriend. Everyone tells you to leave, but he he's hot. He's passionate. You swear this repair will be the last. But you keep going back.
I’ve had a 2017 for 3 years, bought used. I’ve never had any issues with it. I love this truck
Same. I love it
I wonder if the 2020 model will be ok!
3.0 or 2.0 ?

Discovery 5?

I also want a defender so bad! Lol.
Hey all there is a recent windshield recall if you head to dealership it’s covered under full factory warranty due to water leaking.
The owners had the windshield replaced a few months back under warranty but not under the recall.
I LOL when he said the issues it had HAD at 36k miles. I died.
Still rather own one of these than any American 4x4. America is an automotive dustbin full of off roaders that can’t off road.
Hopefully you still consider Toyota Japanese automobile. Because they’re way more reliable and just as offroad capable. Ie landcruiser and 4 runner

was that a woodpecker working away in the background lol?
Lol initially i thought a woodpecker visited my place then realized from this channel😂

You are probably right but ideally they took good care of the car. The current owner owned a Disco 2, which brought him to buy the new one.
how reliable/costly has maintenance been for the LR3?
I like the U.S. Navy license plate bracket

I have a 2020 Discovery 5 and have same scratch issue. I've seen it on other Discovery as well, it is common and disappointing.
Great video. Informative and concise. Beautiful car but the issues you noted are significant.
New or used neither are guaranteed to have no problems no auto is perfect. Regardless of the brand
Great video, your editing is getting better with each upload!! 👍
I appreciate it! Trying to refine my editing formula for these new videos. I appreciate you sticking around although you came for the Mustang content!
Most Land rovers are like a good woman !?
You get a great ride but You have to put up with a bit of sh*t sometimes 😂

Any updates on this? Were you able to proceed with claim?
@@carolm6299 yes the claim was honoured and finally got my disco back 8 months later. Getting parts from JLR was a nightmare.
You missed the main issue. The bloody steering wheel is on the wrong side.
lmao
I've had way more issues with my F150 King Ranch. Thinking about trading it for one of these.
New reported issues:
Windshield started to leak water, got replaced under warranty
The black gloss exterior panels started to oxidize, getting it replaced under warranty
Other than that, seems like a solid ride
what year was your F150?
Just avoid the Ford v6 engine and the ingenium 2.0 diesel.
Great honest review. Thanks!
Wait until the real issues begin!!
great presentation..you are a natural !

Have to agree ,JLR run by accountants, no more to be said, sadly.
Are you in a recent TH-cam commercial??
I am not. What commercial was it?
I forgot but it comes up on TH-cam shorts sometimes, it was maybe a car insurance or aftermarket warranty company…
The title of your video should have been: Don’t own a range rover out of warranty…
Don’t own any car out of warranty or take out a extended warranty
I took an extended on my Tesla… worth every penny.
Please like the video, this car is a disaster and JLR knows it but won't admit it. My crankshaft broke into 3 pieces likes it's a toothpick.

It's a Range Rover. What do you expect? Perfect reliability, sorry buddy but keep dreaming
