    Just got a couple of these. Had to run inside to check before commenting. That knob that's bothering you so much (@ 3:50) is the style where you pull it out to rotate it freely. No one mentioned it yet so I thought I'd do my part. Cheers!

    That's pretty handy! The phone holder surprised me, will consider one of these as I often find myself wanting to mount my camera on fences etc. Thanks for making this mate, another thorough and honest review 😁

    • @RalphMayhewPhotography
      @RalphMayhewPhotography  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank Rauri. The mount for the camera is super handy too as the only thing you need to rotate is the turn wheel. Saves that silly dance as you spin either your camera or tripod round.

    I switched from GorillaPod to one of these, and it’s great - especially with their higher end ball head. But… it does droop a bit during walk and talk filming when you bend it upwards towards yourself. But yes - brilliant little thing, and much more versatile and easy to live with than the GorillaPod. 👍

    • @RalphMayhewPhotography
      @RalphMayhewPhotography  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. I found on mine that there was lots of grip and breaking margin so you can make it really tight and it didn’t slip. Thanks heaps for the input man.

    • @peterfritzphoto
      @peterfritzphoto 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RalphMayhewPhotography Nah, the ball head is fine. It’s the legs. I noticed this a couple of days ago when I put my DJI OM5 on it with my phone. It started drooping slowly, like it’d had a few too many beers.

    • @RalphMayhewPhotography
      @RalphMayhewPhotography  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha ah I see. Maybe the high centre of gravity and extra weight caused it. How’s the OM5?

    • @peterfritzphoto
      @peterfritzphoto 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RalphMayhewPhotography Probably, yeah. The OM5 is very good - although I have a love/hate relationship with Gimbals - including even the Ronin. That’s probably why I love the Insta360 Go 2 so much - no stuffing around, yet with awesome stabilisation. I’m going to shoot more B-roll with the OM5 (easier now with the built-in extension), but probably not much A-roll or walk-n-talk stuff. I still prefer the R5/M6II for the former and Go 2 for the latter. Shit, that was a long answer…

    • @RalphMayhewPhotography
      @RalphMayhewPhotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha I’ve entered a comp to see if I can win one. I have the OM4 which I did a video on. I find it helpful for unique sort of tasks.

    Wow, thanks for the comments on the shortcomings!
    The ball head is a shame. More professional ballheads like ones by Manfrotto unlock the ball *but also* the panning base. That way you can orient the tightening knob in whatever way you want.
    The fact you can't remove the plate on the ballhead is also a bummer, but at least the ballhead itself is removeable.

    • @RalphMayhewPhotography

      I’ve often thought a pano function would take this to the next level.

    Hi!
    Everybody say the leg is brake some weeks/months later of use.
    Do you see screws somewhere under the head between legs)? If yes, easy to remove broken leg and repair.
    If is this work, I going to buy.

    • @RalphMayhewPhotography
      @RalphMayhewPhotography  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m not sure you’ll have a lot of success and I do t think you can replace the leg by itself. On the other hand I use my HEAPS and have never heard or experienced a leg break with it.

    • @talpalatnyizold
      @talpalatnyizold 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@RalphMayhewPhotography aluminium can brake when bend many times. Especially near one point. This is the weak point of this.
      Anyway, I saw other videos there are screws on the bottom so I am sure if it brakes I just remove the faulty leg, repair with wire and put back.
      Thanks!

    Mate, I thought this was better than Joby 1k. After one week, the leg broke off right where it attaches to the ball head. I wrapped it around the tree, went to take it off, and it broke. It may be cheaper than other portable tripods, but it's not worth it at all. Such an dead investment and environmental waste tbh 😅
