@West Goes East sadly not. I was only there for 5 nights and was staying with my friends parents. We spent our time going to the expat areas. Beach, pool, M and S, and sunbathing. We were only 16!
Thank you. We did our own research and got some advice from our hotel in Muscat called Lana Villa. We also hired a car from them. As for the desert trip we booked it through booking.com. there's loads to choose from. We liked the look of that one as it was a small camp.
MarrHabban Phil! What an epic adventure. And very well told and edited. Such beautiful swimming trips and that lovely glamping experience in the desert. And a lot of other memorable trips and sights. Very enjoyable. Thank you for sharing and Masa' al kheir 😊.
This was very interesting Phil and very well edited and put together. You have come a long way since doing the South Downs Way (literally!) and deserve far more views and subscribers than you currently have. Well done! Wasn't expecting another adventure so soon after the last!
Great video...got here after seeing your Jordan video. I was already planning my Jordan trip but now I want to go to Oman too. Also tip on the phone: saltwater doesn't dry completely so the phone thinks there is still moisture. If you have a waterproof phone you just need to wash the salt off and let it dry.
Thank you. Yes, Oman is just as amazing as Jordan. In fact it probably has more to offer but Petra and Wadi Rum are incredible so well worth going to Jordan for those places alone. Thanks for the tip about the phone. Thankfully I had phone insurance so got it replaced. Just gutted I lost the turtle footage.
We arrived in the afternoon but could have spent the whole day there as its so nice. It felt a bit rushed for us. It's about a 2 hour drive from Muscat , a 5 minute boat ride across the river and then probs about a 45 min walk through the canyon until you reach the water. So it is doable if you have a car but you maybe pushed for time. Plus I think the last boat across the river is at 7pm (but cant remember for sure)? There is the Bimmah Sinkhole which is a bit closer to Muscat which is pretty cool. Not as nice as Wadi Shab though. Hope that helps?
I would book tbh as they get booked up pretty quickly and the port is a bit of a drive out of town. Having said that I think we booked a day in advance. The owner of our hotel rang them company up to see if there was availability on the boat and luckily for us there was.
*Also you mention there were people offering rides up to jebel? So one could potentially park the car at the bottom? We’ll be in a rental and I’m terrified of ruining it, haha. Thanks!
Hi there. Thanks for watching :) No issues with driving to any of the wadis. The only procarious drive we had was up to Jebal but we manged it and the car was fine plus we were in a brand new hire car and there not a scratch. It's just a bit steep and there was no tarmac. I wouldn't suggest trying to get a lift up as that was just some guy trying his luck to make a buck or 2....I wouldnt have fully trusted that plus you'd have to find your own way back too when coming back down the mountain.
Hey, I didn't take my drone? Are there any drone shots in the vid? I wouldn't risk tbh as you'll likely have it taken away at the airport but I guess you never know if you wanna try. I did meet a guy at the sink hole who had one but he had driven it through from Dubai. I've got the same issue for an upcoming trip to Senegal where it's not allowed. Bit of a bugger!
Thanks. Tbh I really can't remember. I looked on my bookings history on Bookings.com which is where I thought we booked it but it's not there. Perhaps have a look on there anyway and hopefully you'll find it. It only had 2 tents

@@EmmaSamways didn't realise they had Marks and Spencers there 🤔
@West Goes East well the used to. There was a big UK military base there so they did a roaring trade with the espats!

Hello!
What a wonderful trip ! :D
Where did you sleep exactly in the desert ? The spot look awesome. We are planning to go there also.
The camp was called Wahiba Bedouins private camp. Really special due to the small size and the kind host.
Hey! Awesome video. Really well put together. Where did you stayed for your time around jabal Al chams?
Thank you! :) It was called Sama heights resort. Hope that helps!
Great video! Any recomendations for renting car in Oman?
Thanks! We rented from our accommodation in Muscat, Lana Villa. There is a link in the description.
Thanks!
Come to nizwa fort
We did see it but didn't go in.
How long did you spend in Wadi Shab? We have a spare afternoon layover and were wondering if we could fit it in from Muscat.

@@WestGoesEast ok, thanks! I heard/read somewhere that there might be a checkpoint at the bottom not allowing non 4x4 vehicles up so wasn't sure.
@@sierraward9609we didn't encounter any check points. I think you'll be OK. That's if you go where we went anyway.

How much did you pay for the roundtrip transfer to the desert tent per person?
For the transfer or the whole desert tent experience?
