Great vid as always. The blue belt looks in the camera like he wants to smesh everybody watching it.

"Building off the grip they give you" has been such a huge revelation for me.

The concise and clear explanation is gold. I love the long winded folks like Hall and Danaher but sometimes this format is exactly what I need

The production value of these videos has gone up tremendously over the past couple months. Hopefully this channel soon gets the support it deserves!

Your videos are super helpful. I like how you explain the repercussions of certain positions. “Don’t just put one spider guard in because they can just throw your foot over.” Even though that’s common sense, I never thought of it until you demonstrated it. Subscribed!

Professor, I love your content. So understandable and easy to apply. I have a question not really related to the specifics of this video, but much more general. I am a 3 stripe blue belt, and at the moment I feel totally overwhelmed by how much I still have to learn. I feel like I have a decent closed guard game, but so many other areas are sorely lacking. I assume it's normal to feel this way, but I don't know what to do about it (other than keep training! lol). Do you have any advice?

I feel you from a skinny, lowly one stripe blue belt. lol

I’m no expert at jiu jitsu, but it’s no different than any other competitive skill. First, you’re only a blue belt. You’re not even halfway to black belt yet, and even black belts often say they suck. There will always be more to know. You’re literally staring into infinity… of course you will feel overwhelmed. Instead, look at everything you’ve learned since you first stepped on the mat. You’ll probably realize that you’ve come very far. From there, just pull things out of that infinite skill depth and learn them individually. Instead of trying to learn everything, constantly strive to learn something. Then just let time and consistency work their magic

I like your videos, thank you very much for the content. I am a bit put off by something though and I would like to know more. I noticed that you have two red arm bands on all of your gi's. What is this moniker? Does it have meaning? It makes me think of the WWII era red arm bands...
