Thrall pushing his chest against the blade to stop it from shaking was such a great bit of cinematography. And a really clever bit of character writing. I don't know if something like that would actually work in real life, but when watching it play out, I firmly believed it worked in that moment. Anduin, shaking and lost, and then Thrall, without even touching him, stabilises his shaking hand. It was a beautiful moment. I've not been following the story much recently, but that cinematic was fantastic.

I actually made a parallel between Thrall and Anduin on reddit and it caught a lot of attention. The connection i made here was, Thrall lost his shamanistic abilities after slaying Garrosh, Doomhammer went quiet, the elements he could no longer hear, he lost his power, due to his own inner conflict, and doubt. Anduin has much the same, he admitted he has no light, and he's not that person anymore. Again.. i think it's a self doubt and inner conflict thing. I think blizzard likes doing throwbacks in cinematics to get people hyped, that's all. But i think this is more about.. Thrall relating to Anduin.

I somewhat agree, but he used Astral Recall? at least, the colors of the icon in game were depicted in the cinematic. of the two, Green Jesus is the one who specifically touches the ground & gets hit with a vision, as opposed to Andu who closes his eyes. they both receive the 2nd vision afterwards, but the initial contact of Thrall’s hands on Azeroth’s ground felt v shamanistic. perhaps it’ll be a theme of stepping back into power for these big names? or finding something new altogether via “Hero Talents?”

Alleria isn't getting visions from the World Soul at all. She is getting visions from the Void directly, trying to move her towards siding with Xalatath. That is why it is emphasizing the amulet of Iridikron in Knaifu's hand, and focusing on her (Knaifu) and the Nerubians. She even mentions that in her dialogue in the features trailer. The World Soul wouldn't and I believe couldn't individually target people right now outside of Magni. Alleria gets the knowledge of the visions from Turalyon, and he probably knows her visions, as they tend to share these things. It wouldn't make sense that suddenly Azeroth herself just goes "Hey Alleria, see these visions!" when everyone else can just barely hear her.

    • @Nobbel87
      @Nobbel87  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Yeah alleria be hearing the call from the void/different message as the others, that's what she says in the trailer. The part about visions/hearing voice for multiple people comes from the anne stickney wowhead interview: Anne Stickney: It's a part of the Saga. The World Soul is calling to people, and calling for a reason. And a lot of people have been hearing these words and these visions.

as someone also pointed out to me, Anduin even with all his doubts and fears, always had the Light to turn to, he believed that it's divine power would never fail him. but yet The Jailer was able to smash his barrier and capture him with ease, he probably begged the Light to come help him, to save him somehow, but the Light never answered, hence why he feels unworthy and without Light as he states in the Cinematic, since he ultimately had to save himself.

Think about this cinematic on a meta level: Anduin represents the dwindling playerbase, and Thrall is Metzen.
Anduin's PTSD parallels players' alienation caused by the failed narratives of bfa, shadowlands, and dragonflight.
ThrallMetzen has returned to coax us back, promising better long term storytelling that's in the spirit of Warcraft and not Stephen Universe(Dragonflight)
Don't get me wrong, I do think the Daneuser writing team is going to keep writing dark girlbosses over and over (look at the Alleria teaser), but maybe they'll be nested in a more holistic story that Metzen can help them develop.
The sad thing is that girlboss characters can totally work. Look at Cersei, Marjorie Tyrell, Olenna Tyrell (from asoiaf)
The Dansnoozer writing team thinks that being a strong woman is a REPLACEMENT for characterization rather than one color in the tapestry. Case in point: DF's Alextraza and Vyranoth.

Give me a Lo'Gosh Side-story and Arthas dealing with the Loraderon stuff. By the end of season 1 you would have covered a majority of the Alliance and even touched on the orc culture thru the Arena. Have to disagree with you a bit on this cinematic, Nobbel: The Mannoroth cut scene is part of an in-game narrative and there the emotional stuff definitely has its place, but the Silithus cinematic is an extremely weird choice as *the* cinematic to promote an expansion. It's supposed to be a concise, exciting, persuasive hook to get people in and epic battles and fighting or introducing villains helps with that. I would have loved a cinematic on this quality level giving us a glimpse at what Xalatath and the Nerubians are actually up to as our introduction to the next expansion. Instead, we got a rather context-free conversation between two guys standing in the desert and talking about their feelings. This kind of scene belongs in an "Old Soldier" stye narrative, not out front as promotional material.

That's not Azeroth's world soul calling out to Anduin and Thrall and i don't base that claim on its fiery appearance alone. The only lore i ever gave any credibility about Azeroth's creation myth is the Tauren lore, with their tales about An'she. Mu'sha and Lo'sho. This world is not only "a prison" it's also a giant battery powering "something" with our anima and chances are that something has everything to do with "the titans" respective "the constructs" they all probably really are, just like the Jailor, robots part of a conspiracy we will find difficuilt to comprehend (Chris Metzen).
Azeroth is long gone and Sargeras plunged his Sword into the planet to stop that cycle and possibly siphon An'she's power/light into the sword(mourneblade). The Jailor said in one of the SL cinematics "Death comes for the soul of your world", but as we all know now, he was merely a construct programmed to say that.
in short this world is a giant battery with An'she and Mu'sha at either end of the poles. Our souls (the anima) are the electrons floating towards Mu'sha powering "something" or "someone". We have zero clue what the world around us really looks like since an artificial veil that Sylvanas managed to pierce at one location is blocking our view.

On Legion, Varian was there too before he accepted the sword. And now it seems that Thrall will be the one to push him in the right path with maybe Jaina. He needs to be tested and he needs to come out on top on his own. He needs to leave everyones shadow.
That being said the man's curriculum is IMPRESSIVE. I disagree with Nobbel on the "epicness" part. In the epic-fantasy or high fantasy genre, the epic moments do not just occure during war times or in the/aftermath of the battles. When this subject comes and I need to make myself clear, I always give this scene from LOTR as an example: th-cam.com/video/PfhZB7rQ7iA/w-d-xo.html
The scene and conversation between Anduin and Thrall could be articulated way better, it could be way intense or it could be done in a way to invoke emotions within us. But as it is, conversation is very basic, we don't really get emotional and Anduin's supposed "doubt" goes away in seconds. It feels unrealistic, it does not immerse the viewer.

Back when i played it was one of my favorite zones because it was rough and alien like, the place always felt creepy and cursed. In this they didn't capture the other worldly vibes that actually comes from that place in game. I get that they wanted a calm scene for the scene between Anduin and Thrall, but they missed the opportunity to really bring the actual Silithus to life, it being one of our only chances to see in game worlds on a bigger screen. Maybe they had him sitting at the more sandy dune areas that looks more normal but still i would have wanted to see the bug hives and creepy amber skies associated with that place, i appreciate the crusty side of things. At least have the area the sword's at be amber hued and briming with wind!

This announcement cinematic is the weakest for sure. This is more of a story cinematic, like in BFA. Announcement cinematics gotta have more action, that's how it's always been. I mean, compare this to the BFA announcement cinematic, yikes.

I only like the new cinematic after watching this lore explanation. I guess that is the main problem, if you're not keeping up to the lore, the new cinematic don't hype you up much..

I had a few paragraphs type out then my pc crashed so I just gonna put the tldr; the primals were right, the titans are the bad guys and by proxy so are we, and when azaroth wakes the planet is done for as is all life on the planet. That's just how I feel, thorts, opinions, contradictions please discuss.
