    Just enjoying every Bark River knife you present to us. I have to admit the blade profile here doesn't hit on me, love the classic Bravo profile. Of course the more defined tip has it's benefits in piercing or drilling. But it just looks strange to my eyes on an Bravo. The handle is great.
    The steel... I would have problems maintaining Elmax with what i got for stropping or sharpening. I believe BRKT has got it right with heat treatment and hardening Elmax, but i was so relieved when they released the Bravo Necker II 2016 with CPM154. Great knife with a steel I'm not afraid of 😉

    Nice knife, but one thing bugged me. Was the BRK logo crooked on the knife?

    just FYI, Elmax is from Böhler-Uddeholm , which is an Austrian company, not German.. (bought a few years back by Voestalpine, which is another Austrian company) :)

    Did you use the edge pro to sharpened the bravo edc..
    I want to buy a bravo edc in elmax or cpm s30 but im afraid the edge pro stones wont do the trick.
    Please advice..

      Bark River knives are all ground with convex edges. A fixed angle system is not the tool for that job. Check out my convex sharpening videos.

    I wish it could be found in 3v. I want to get a small bark river knife in 3v but the bravo line is my favorite.

      Elmax is a bit less tough with significantly better edge holding, M4 has crazy edge holding but less toughness(its also sucks to sharpen)

      Knives Ship Free has a large selection of the Bravo EDC in 3V. I just picked mine up yesterday as they are in my area.

    Wish they made a LT or featherweight Bravo EDC Elmax/M390 .85 or so

    What sheath comes with this blade?

  • @gabrielcr78

    So... after this time.. would you say for pairing with a big knife... you would prefer the Bravo EDC over the Featherweight? and in general comparison after having used them more.. which one would you say you do prefer?

    • @TheApostleP
      @TheApostleP  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gabriel Sanchez By a very slight margin, I prefer the FFR. It’s the super thin blade stock that is the difference maker. I like my small blades slicey!

    • @gabrielcr78
      @gabrielcr78 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheApostlePI'm really glad yiou said that.. i was almost sure it would bea tight, but i also was thinking the thinner blade, if pairing with a bigger knife like a bravo 1.5 would be a better pair... not to mention FFR sometimes comes in 3v :)

    I love the knife and design, but hate that steel. Its really a very difficult to maintain steel for a lot of us with minimal skills and/or sharpening materials. At least in my experience. I know its tough and all, but I really prefer easy maintenance over indestructibility.

    You sharpen knives,you review knives,yet you don't comment on steels.Some first hand impressions would be quite welcome.What's your take on Elmax is what i really mean.

    I have two of these edc elmax and I have to say it's a total bitch to get it sharpen up. wish it was available in A2 or maybe 3v

    • @JamesSmith-gt2tq
      @JamesSmith-gt2tq 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Louis Lee Plenty out there in A2 steel.

    • @SimpleAdventuresLLMSX
      @SimpleAdventuresLLMSX 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James Smith yes, but not the same thickness plus I think Mike and crew won't be making the A2 version anymore.

    • @JamesSmith-gt2tq
      @JamesSmith-gt2tq 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does that 1/50th of an inch in stock thickness make much of a difference in use?

    • @SimpleAdventuresLLMSX
      @SimpleAdventuresLLMSX 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James Smith,
      yes it does. hella lot different. my bravo 1 LT vs my other 1.25 bravo 1 is different too. I like the thinner stock but not too thin my ULB, which was too thin so I sold it.

    • @SimpleAdventuresLLMSX
      @SimpleAdventuresLLMSX 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James Smith if Bark river had made these A2 thinner stock like the elmax. no doubt I would pick up two as well.

      +ogenmatic It's my knife and sheath. When ordered at KSF, I asked for (and received) the Bushcraft "F" sheath.

    Too bad the new batch is .102
    I really don't get the trend of making knives thinner and thinner....i rarely use my edc for vegetables since i have kitchen knives & i don't eat very much greens 😁
    .125 is the thinnest i'll go.....i like sturdy knives.

      Uhhh… so they cut…
      We have hatchets and axes for splitting 😉
