Congratulations on new Bark River, they are one hell of a knife, the 3v man is so great, if you get out and really use it you will be even more in love. So many new knifes these days seem to be made of D2 which is a strong steel but most people cant sharpen it, and being brittle believe or not can break. You were very smart on your purchase of v3 , in my opinion, as they say, it cant be beat, but i think you know that, so thanks for showing, she is a beauty. I would match it against any of equal size or steel. You my friend got your $$'s worth.
Hi Rob, I think you are going to love this knife, the proportions are very well done. The new Lil' Canadian just came out and the stock is thin making it another great small knife. Nice review!
Nice review Rob. The mini aurora is on my to buy list when they have a fresh run. I have been looking for a small knife that can be use as a primary knife. I already own a ultralite bushcrafter an featherweight Fox river but need a small knife that is a little more robust.
I saw your review on the springbok. Im like you in regards to EDC fixed blade knives. I like them a bit on the smaller size for obvious reasons.I had my eye on the springbok but now you have me looking a the mini aurora. Since you have reviewed both Id like you take both in a side by side. THXS
If you take paracord and run it through those eyelets you will end up with a very nice horizontal carry option. I did that with my Ultra-light Bushcrafter and it makes it a dream to carry.
I think I might have to save for one of these. I have been wanting an EDC fixed blade in 3V ever since I got a Spyderco Tuff and found out how good the stuff is. Do you sharpen your Bark River knives on sand paper or on your edge pro?
Almost all Barkies have a large radius convex blade face and a smaller radius convex edge - think of the shape of a parabola. It’s kind of infinitely adjustable from there, depending on steel type and application. Only the “scandi-vex” models have one arc all the way to be apex.
@@hamedizzy5137 Definitely not. If it looks that way, it’s probably because the edge is finished to a higher polish than the rest of the blade. But it’s most definitely a convex edge bevel. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I bought my first Bark River knife the other day and must say i am a little disepointed in it. Not the best quality regarding the craftmanship. The edge is not centerd at al it's way of. The edge is not straight and they have forgot too polish the butt of the handle. i bought this at Lamnia some days ago and it was the Canadian Camp II knife in A2 steel with green micarta. Really like the design but the craftmanship is really lacking. Bought a Ontario SP 5 and a Sword Tempsky ranger bowie and they was alot better made without any flaws. How is this possible,i have heared so much good about them. They allways talk about caring for the product. Do they have too much too do,they have so many too quality check each knife several times so how can something like this slip thru. Maybe i will order one moore and see,if it is no better i will not buy any moore Bark Rivers.
Rob how can you not love it. I love the Aurora, so the mini has to be great as well.

Virtuovice channel infected me with Bark River Lust. They're lovely. I love those thick, pale sheaths too
Same it’s so bad. I’ve bought three in the past month
I own over 50 BRKs and I can’t wait til the Ext run of these guys.
Just LOVE these detailed reviews!!!

Can you show use how to sharpen convex grinds?
Great knives!! Can't believe I don't own one yet.
Great video. Thank you
How is 3v edge retention compared to a2?
DBK and Sikahunter infected me with knives worlds too. But I enjoy it, use them in camping and hiking.
great quote from scripture and what a beautiful fixed blade
But Rob, you can't have black canvas micarta ! Because that one is Mike's ! haha
I agree about the Bradford 100% , however his Double cryo double HT M390 is second to none.
Best I have tested,by far.Shame his handles are off.
Now on his site, there is a option for 3D machine contoured handle (carbon fiber, miccarta, g10, wood)
Che spettacolo.Troppo bello.Ps.quanto costa da voi Mini Aurora? Grazie.
? did you ever try the liquid compound from Chief Knives to go. May the blessings of the Lord be upon you all.
What do you think about the loveless knife management? 2k for a knife? Not much chatter on this.
I EDC mine for a long time now
Can you show or tell what a BRK "Full height grind" is and any advantage

Mine comes in the mail in a few hours 😎
Be careful Rob, this could develop into an obsession! ha ha
... Says the guy with about 300 GEC's 😜
+TheApostleP Do not tell my wife.
Bark River knives are the closest I've ever gotten to believing in a higher being.
how do you sharpen Bark River knives since they have convex grind? do you use your apex?
I actually have another method for that, Travis. I use a hard rubber substrate with progressive grits of sandpaper, followed by strops.
@@TheApostleP watching that vid as I type! Thanks
Never seen a BR knife have an edge that looks mirror like this.
My Ultra Lite Bushcrafter has the same finish.
Why would you but a secondary edge on a Barky?

@@TheApostleP iunderstand what you're saying but barbies all have a micro convexed bevel. What you have looks like a V
@@hamedizzy5137 Definitely not. If it looks that way, it’s probably because the edge is finished to a higher polish than the rest of the blade. But it’s most definitely a convex edge bevel. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
@@TheApostleP good. Yes maybe the high polish throwing me off.
do you prefer 3V or Cruwear?
Travis H Yes 😉
@@TheApostleP 3v? If so how come?
I think cruwear holds a finer edge longer and almost as tough as 3v. I prefer cruwear.
Excellent

Lol no one needs feather sticks LOL find a birch tree and be done with it proper.
Emperors New Clothes kinda thing going on here. Posh kitchen drawer carrot cutter with a nice leather sheath. Sorry Rob, not impressed. :(
It's an excellent kitchen knife... if your stove is wood fired and you need to split some kindling ;)
