  • After a month without shows in January, Sander goes through some of the recent purchases that were brought to the shop and small collections that he bought in Europe. He talks about WW1 spike and steel helmets such as a M16 helmet and a M18 ear cut out. Furthermore he talks about an Erel Feldgendarmerie visor cap, Luftwaffe field division field blouse, a WW1 stirnpanzer helmet shield, a German Cross in Gold by Otto Klein, a NSKK double decal reissued helmet, a Wooden wall eagle and a splittertarn helmet cover.

    Almost 80 year old Chicken wire, with no rust... The guy that put it on must have had on gloves and never touched it while applying it. 👍

      Chickenwire is galvanised steel, hence it does not rust. Any advanced collector would know this.

      @@bevo-militariaoriginalww1w976 To put it bluntly, you're wrong.
      Galvanized Chicken wire DOES indeed rust, it's only Zinc coated steel wire. Once the Zinc coating is compromised in ANY way it begins to rust in any environment above 50% humidity. The Zinc coated, outer liner bands in German helmets RUST and I have at least a Dozen examples of that.
      Unless that Chicken wire never saw any service/use, it's going to show rust/oxidation.
      Don't get sideways on me about who's a serious collector or not.
      So please, stop with the attempt at being condescending, it's not going to work with me.

      He's incorrect, galvanized steel absolutely will rust overtime. Especially if it saw use getting scrapped against a hedgerow or anything else. Part of the reason why they ise chickenwire, the cloth covers got tore up on that stuff, even tanks couldn't get through them. Galvanized chickenwire does rust and if that helmet saw any action at all there would be.

    Lovely entertaining and detailed video Sander. Here in the UK I always enjoy your videos and passion for Militaria, like mine! That yellow poster at the end is a Hammer and ANVIL (in English). If you are going to be at the Show of Shows in the USA go meet my best mate Rob Baker on his 'Heroes Militaria' stand - He always has nice, original items for sale or trade.

    Half-size in the LW cap, very unusual for German caps to be in half-sizes.

      @@bevo-militariaoriginalww1w976 I would be inclined to disagree, it is unusual for German headgear to exhibit half-sizes, most are in whole-numbers, like the helmet liner system they'd employed.

      @bevo-militariaoriginalww1w976  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nathansaunders2576 sorry but you are wrong. Look on my website, many sold examples with half sizes. One example of the many listed: bevo-militaria.com/shop/sold/luftwaffe-overseas-cap-schiffchen-8/

      @nathansaunders2576 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bevo-militariaoriginalww1w976 and the ratio of half-sized to whole sizes you've sold?
      Assuming the sizes of those caps you have sold, are a random selection with no purchase bias which would unintentionally influence the incidence at which half-sizes appear in frequency, within your selection, such as purchasing by size, maker or style.
      I would wager, not all manufacturers of caps, and quite possibly fewer than half, produced caps in half-sizes. More research needed.
      It may also vary within any given period of the war, as well as by maker. It is possible that some manufacturers dropped half-sizes as an economy measure. More research needed.
      I have been collecting as long as you, and have a medical predisposition to identify patterns. The half-sizes being less common than whole sizes, in German field cap production, is a pattern I have noticed.

      The cap looks good imo. Looking forward to seeing the pictures on the web shop so we can see a detailed stamp. I would be the first one to be critical, all items look solid.
