  • Saved several Hamiltons by changing the center brake light myself. Works on Hyundai Sonata's from 2006 to 2009. All you need is a phillips head screwdriver and a 921 bulb (filament or LED for longer life). Good luck!

    The images are bad, but the idea is perfect. Simply, easy and fast procedure, if you follow the sequence described.

    When I did mine, I cut off part of the bottom of the socket. That way the I could install the bulb into the cover before installation. Made the job easier. Thanks for the video.

    One of the most helpful videos I have ever watched...it saved me atleast 100 dollars and I just listened and followed what this guy in the video was saying and it took me 10 minutes and just 5 dollars to fix what I once payed 80 bucks for.

      LEDs do last a while but cars are staying on the roads longer. They've got to make access easier for the inevitable.

    Good method. On reassembly I installed the light socket from the bottom as i lacked the dexterity to work from the top. Also only installed one screw holding the light socket as i lost the other screw between the decks. Grateful for the tips though! thanks for sharing.

    I'm 6'2" with very large hands. I reached in the access port on top of the trunk and BARELY wiggled this bulb out and back in with my finger tips. Job took 2min. Didnt unscrew or unbolt a single thing. I went straight to the location and used good ole hand eye coordination. If you're handy, long needle nose pliers (or even better the long needle nose with a curved end) will get this job done easily in under 5min

    I have large hands so it was difficult to get the bulb in the brake light assembly After several attempts, I decided to cut the extra piece of plastic stem which allowed me to fasten the light socket much easier.

    Helpful, but unfortunately did not worked with my 2007 Sonata. The hinges at the end of the lamp would not come off, make it impossible to remove it like in this video. I tried to pry it out but ended up breaking one of the thinner corners (my wife hasn't found out yet!). Looked in another site, saw the idea of making a hole in the metal. This actually is a faster an more practical way. I am planning to make a video myself. Thank you for your assistance!

      @jakejones5736 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MrGuaGui Had to work on the rear speaker yesterday, so I ended up removing the entire deck panel. Turns out the bulb was also burned out. I had been through this a few years ago and forgot the procedure. You pretty much have to dismantle the entire back of the vehicle just to get to the speaker. To make matters WORSE, I just went to the dealer today and they tell me a new speaker is $250! Crappy vehicle design and rip-off prices .I plan on doing some research to hopefully find a cheaper alternative.

    • @jakejones5736
      @jakejones5736 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +MrGuaGui Forgot to mention, because of the poor design I break more plastic clips every time I remove the panel. Unavoidable. Doesn't matter anyway because they overkill the amount of clips they use. As I mentioned, crappy design.

    • @ArtzFenix
      @ArtzFenix  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +MrGuaGui Glad I could inspire you and others. Apparently you're the 2nd person to suggest simply making the hole bigger for easier access. Please send me the link once you get your video posted.

      No videos from all those discrediting your efforts, AK! Too bad - I'm about to tackle this project and it's one of three (four?) options, 1) forget about it, my state doesn't inspect, 2) do it like you show, but I have fat fingers, 3) do the Dremel hole-drill out, or 4) remove the entire back seat and rear window tray!

    • @ArtzFenix
      @ArtzFenix  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear about the break. I saw that suggestion in another video but chose to take my time and keep it stock since I was replacing with an LED bulb. I figured the bulb will probably outlive the car :)

    What a bitch! regardless of video quality, this hinted to the solve. but I just couldn't get it back in. SO I adapted. Bought
    TOMALL 3156 T25 Sockets Female Adapter for Turn Signal/Reverse Light Bulbs Socket
    and Yorkim 3157 LED Light Bulbs White Super Bright, 3056 3156 3156A 3057 4057 3157 4157 T25 LED Bulbs for Brake Lights, Backup Reverse Lights, Reverse Tail Lights - Pack of 4 .
    The low mount coupled with the 90 degree bend - and using LED instead of filament bulb (2.5x the life span) was my solution. I can get the assembly in and out in literally 5 minutes. Slightly more lumens than the original, with 2.5 x the life span, and 1/2 the cost. I did have to barrel connect 2 wires :).

    +Arthur Kirk - I have a 2006 Sonata that I'm thinking about replacing it's original tail light bulbs with LED's. Since you mentioned you did this..did you find any advantage or improvement in brightness? Or..was it just a waste of cash? Thanks for your input!

    • @ArtzFenix
      @ArtzFenix  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since LED and regular was about the same no cash wasted. Brightness is comparable to original but it's a whiter white and a little brighter but that's not why I went LED. I just wanted to do it once and basically never have to worry about it again. It's the same reason I'm thinking of switching to LED headlights. By the way, it's a year on and it's still shining brightly. My advice to anyone having to change a burned out bulb is to go LED whenever possible. (FYI, If it looks dim in video it's because the rear window was tinted in that particular car.) Good luck Nightbird!

    Why the hell did they make it so difficult to change a light bulb!?

    • @ArtzFenix
      @ArtzFenix  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Who knows. Oh, I know...to give the dealer a direct connection to the owner's wallet for a little more cash. I like this generation a lot, especially the V6, so I'm chalking it up to an engineering oversight.

    Not very helpful for anyone who's not already mechanically-inclined, but who thinks it's RIDICULOUS to pay labor costs for replacing a damn brake light bulb. Problems: Poor lighting (why??), and no description of how to get TO the bulb (which is the only difficult thing about the entire procedure). Correct those two things, and the video could be more instructional.

    • @ArtzFenix
      @ArtzFenix  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. If you're going to replace with original equipment you'll need a 921 bulb. I decided on the LED equivalent which is the T10 similar to this one www.amazon.com/Yorkim-Generation-Interior-Replacement-10/dp/B00JRE38EA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1484839769&sr=8-3&keywords=t10+led because I didn't want to mess with it for a LONG while. With 5 individual LED lights on the bulb it'll still work even if a "side" or two goes out. Btw, mine is still going strong. You can find a conversion table here th-cam.com/video/axUCpKmblxU/w-d-xo.html for any other bulbs you may want to upgrade. Good luck.
